After doing "Multiplication Rock", "Grammar Rock", and "America Rock", the "Schoolhouse Rock!" crew starting doing "Science Rock" in the late '70s. This was the first of those I remember seeing when I was a kid growing up during that time. With lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and vocals by The Tokens-best known for the early '60s version of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"-they do an awesome tribute to the '50s Doo-Wop style as we see images of a duck-tailed pompadoured guy who either keeps falling over or dropping things but his girlfriend, Mary Jean, seems to mostly tolerate him just the same. The group also mention Galileo Galilei and Issac Newton as contributors to the gravity theory. Just about the whole thing has a cool nostalgia vibe related to popular entertainment looking back to the days of early Rock 'n' Roll that was around then like the TV series "Happy Days" and the Broadway/movie musical Grease. Heck, seeing Newton provide the last nonsense words while another apple falls on his head provides the perfect ending to "A Victim of Gravity".
