- We open with Jake packing his bags so as to visit his four gal pals' families. "This journey has been incredible," Jake tells the camera. And it's about to get even more amazing -- or at least more awkward. First stop: New York, where swimsuit model Gia is excited to show the Jakester "my world." Gia then proceeds to point out the Empire State Building -- just in case Jake didn't know what it looked like. The pair then take pictures in front of the Statue of Liberty while making out. "When I kiss Gia, I just kind of get lost in it," Jake tells the camera. "I have such a burning desire to get to know her heart."
Gia talks vaguely about a "bad guy" she used to date who cheated on her with all her friends. Yikes. Another dude was a poor communicator. Jake no longer wonders why Gia is so guarded. Jake then meets the family, including mom, stepfather, stepbrother and half brother. Almost immediately, mom starts firing questions. Will Jake have Gia's "back" if they stay together? Is Jake serious about Gia? Is he serious about all the other girls? Jake doesn't answer any of the questions with any specificity -- but he does manage to butter up mom by gushing over her daughter. "I think he really does love you," mom tells Gia. "Call it intuition." Later, Jake gets the third degree from brother Erick, who closes the conversation by threatening to break the pilot's legs. "Treat her right," Erick warns.
Later, Jake heads to Williamstown, Mass, where Ali squeals at the sight of her man. "My relationship with Ali is getting really strong," the bachelor tells the camera. Ali agrees -- and the make-out session begins. Jake then tries to make the leaves fall by shaking a few branches. Ali thinks her would-be hubby is HILARIOUS (we're not so sure). The pair then heads to ... her dead grandmother's house? Yup. Ali tells Jake all about her gram, who helped raise her. "I really believe she made me the woman I am today," the reality show dating contestant tells the camera. The whole experience makes Jake think of "life, love and death." In other words, it's way deep.
Next, Jake meets the living members of Ali's family: mom, sister and brother. Turns out mom didn't approve of the last guy her daughter brought home -- and wasn't shy about sharing her opinions. Will the bachelor live up to mommy's standards? He's off to a good start. Mom calls Jake "genuine" and "sincere." Turns out Ali's mom also has a "gut feeling" about the pilot. "I'll look forward to planning a wedding," mom says. "Usually, my gut doesn't fail me." You know what doesn't fail Jake? His lips. He and Ali make out in the backyard after Ali confesses her deep feelings for the pilot. "I want you," she says.
Sometime later, Jake arrives in Newburg, Oregon to visit Tenley and co. She has also been "so burned" in the past -- and, yet again, brings up her ex husband. Turns out the guy was led around by his parents. Jake assures her that he is indeed his own man. Tenley then shows Jake her favorite dance studio -- apparently a place her ex husband didn't appreciate (did this guy like ANYTHING about his ex wife?). Tenley then performs a specially-choreographed dance for her beau. It's awkward, but Jake LOVES it. "I was shocked that Tenley's ex had never seen her dance like that," he says. Or had he?
The two head to Tenley's parent's house. "It's so important that I have my parents' approval for the next man I marry," Tenley tells the camera. Dad then takes Jake upstairs for a man-to-man chat. Jake explains that he was raised to "do the right thing" -- and understands that Tenley has had a tough year with the divorce and all. Not surprisingly, dad also had a good "feeling" about Jake. Mom, meanwhile, assures Jake that her daughter is ready to date again. "Tenley is going to have emotional spillovers for awhile," mom says. "But as far as her being ready, if anybody could be, it's Tenley." Jake ends the night by asking Tenley's father for permission to marry his little girl -- you know, if he decides to ask her over the other girls. Dad says sure. That's some first impression.
Cut to Sanford, Florida, where Vienna greets Jake with a squeal and hug. They go for a riverboat cruise. The pair sees turtles and moss and gators. It's exciting. Vienna then explains that her father hasn't really liked any of her boyfriends (or her ex husband, for that matter). Will this time be any different? "Good luck," she says with a laugh. Jake notices that Vienna "really puts her dad on a pedestal." You think? Upon arriving home, Vienna and her dad hug each other for a long time and cry. It's kind of weird. Later, dad pulls Jake out to the garage and tells him to treat Vienna "like a princess." Jake agrees. This gives pops a "good feeling" about the bachelor. As the night ends, Vienna makes out with Jake in the upstairs bedroom.
The next morning, a very serious-looking Ali enters Jake's hotel room. She immediately bursts into tears. "I have to choose between staying here and going back to work," she explains. Jake is CRUSHED. He tells her that life is about "minimizing regrets" -- and that she needs to decide which she will most regret losing: her pilot or her career. "I can not now guarantee that I'm going to put a ring on your finger," he says. Confused, Ali tells Jake that she will come to a decision by rose-awarding time. They hug. Later, Ali sits in the hotel hallway and weeps. If only she could call in sick -- lovesick!
Rose-ceremony time. As the ladies arrive to be judged, Jake stares at framed photographs of the women surrounded by burning candles. Ali requests an audience with Jake -- and it turns out she STILL hasn't made up her mind. Many tears, mumbles and intense close-ups later, Ali opts to ... ask for a little bit more time. Many more tears, mumbles and intense close-ups later, Ali decides to ... leave. "I feel like you're slipping right through my fingers," Jake tells her. Then the bachelor cries -- hard. After a few moments, the Jakester gathers himself and heads inside to give out all three roses. "I realize that I have three amazing women and I'm really excited to continue this journey with them," he says.
Next week: the Caribbean, where it's always bikini season.
