I have been skeptical of the plot-linear and action-oriented approach to the writing this season. However, this episode hits on most accounts. There are a few unexpected revivals of previous arcs, cameos from fan favorite characters, deep-cut references, new running gags, and enough humor to harness longtime viewers.
I cannot shake the feeling that Archer appears to be heading toward natural conclusion by the end of its 15th - at the latest. Frankly, I think it's for the best. This show won't capture the magic of seasons 1-7 again. Times have changed, and the show feels like it's catching up to our new cultural conditions. Archer's anachronistic distortions feel less significant to the plot than ever before. If you're looking for a truly great episode of a truly classic show nearing the end of its remarkable run, this episode sticks the landing and more.
