This TV show seems to forget to have multiple characters that are 15-16 years old and that should act alike. Plot is inconsistent, lacks originality and is a sum of people with gambling and sexuality disorders. I rated this episode so high because the last 10 minutes are so well acted I almost cried. Susannah, Conrad and Jeremiah showed a very deep and emotional moment around their recent discovery and their act is a little gem in this trashy bland love triangle.

A win for me

Warning: Spoilers
I had a strong visceral reaction to this episode. Maybe it was the 3 vodkas I had with my boyfriend, but the realistic portrayal of the children's impact to the cancer diagnosis really got to me.
As someone who tends to like high brow shows, I was okay with the simplicity and rawness of this. These reviews and even friends of mine agreed on the corniness and futileness of the series, but it really didn't bother me. As someone who vacationed in the hamptons, it was depicted partially accurately, and this episode particularly really got to me.
I binged season 1 in 2 nights. I cried for 20 minutes throughout & i'm feeling alive.

A forced finale

Even though this wasn't the best of finales, the show still tried to pull us in with it's heart pounding moments and shocking reveals. I will say that they did focus a lot more on the Belly love triangle (something that didn't really have anything to it until the later episodes).
The show was intended to focus on the Belly/Conard/Jeremiah story and that would be the driving force of this show and after watching the final episode that wasn't really the case. In several scenes throughout this season we have seen the decline of Susannah's health and it was revealed that she has cancer.
Now at first I wasn't really buying the parents story in this show as it was a teen romance and I had no interest in watching these characters. But I think as time went by I slowly started to like them, they weren't great characters but they still offered something to the table.
Now the stuff with the kids, I feel as though since the whole Susannah thing kind of took over this episode, it didn't really make me enjoy the ball scenes that much. They were setting this up since the first episode and for it to be subverted in the worst possible way is saying something.
I just think that the show falls flat because they just didn't know what to do with the different plot lines they had and it led to a very forced finale.
