Un-spectacular third documentary...
dwpollar17 July 2021
1st watched 7/16/2021 - (Dir-Dan T. Hall): titled "Ghost Stories 3" Un-spectacular third documentary where a group of paranormal folks investigate a few more known haunted locations in Indiana. Similar to Dan T. Hall and his group's 2nd movie - they use fast-forwarding photography and scary music to hike up the scariness factor, and try to do the same with repetitive scenes and audio that come across scary or at least un-nerving. What they needed to do was give us the straight stories and let the viewer decide. There is a lot of interesting historical information that they gathered from the interviewees as to why the sites are considered haunted, but the results from the investigations don't add much more. The last site in Valparaiso was the most plausible from the evidence that it may be actually haunted, but if it is - what does it matter ? The cases don't really have a major impact on their lives except in Valparaiso where the people living there seem to have some kind of interactions with the ghosts. So, the bottom line is this documentary doesn't make me want to explore things further and therefore it is not doing a good job. This was, at least, my perspective. There might be TV shows that do a better job than this film if you are interested in exploring this genre.

Eerie and haunting!

I'm a newcomer to the Ghost Stories series so I wasn't really sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised (and, well, sufficiently creeped out a bit!) after finishing the film. What really helps ground this documentary for me is the very gritty and realistic feel it has. There isn't an abundance of fancy, overly dramatic effects or cheap jump-scares to be had here - as is usually the case with most of these "documentaries" (solely for the sake of being dramatic) - and to me that made it even more creepier as it began to sink in that this was a legitimate documentary and that these things and discoveries were quite real. I don't want to give too much away but some of the evidence they managed to uncover in some of these locations shot chills right up my spine. It was a really interesting watch and it certainly left a lasting impact on me - making me question the validity of whether or not these kind of spirits actually exist and linger in our world (where previously I was a huge skeptic). Looking forward to seeing more of these.
