Watching a movie can be a devastating experience especially if it tells about something that everybody is even afraid to think about. In these terms, the most terrifying movies are definitely the ones based on true historical events. Or on the contrary, the ones that follow a story that everybody hopes will never happen in reality.
War movies are the ones that come to mind, but there’s nothing worse than nuclear war movies. And even though it can be tough to follow such stories, it’s important that everybody knows the possible aftermath of events in case they happen.
So Redditors picked 5 movies that serve the purpose.
1. Threads (1984)
This is the movie that is actually credited with being the first to even show nuclear winter. The story centers on two families living in the small town of Sheffield, England, who discover that nuclear war is closer to them than they thought.

David E. Diano, a veteran camera operator with credits including Tombstone, The Fast and the Furious, Wedding Crashers and Spider-Man 3, has died. He was 71.
Diano died Jan. 22 at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena of coronary issues after a battle with prostate cancer, his wife, still photographer Gemma Lamana, told The Hollywood Reporter.
Diano served as president of the Society of Camera Operators from 2003-04 before deciding not to run for a second term.
“To write that David was a one-of-a-kind friend to those of us who worked with him would be an understatement,” Soc historical chair Michael Frediani said in a statement. “His kindness, artistry and boyish smile endeared him to countess friends and fellow industry colleagues — and that is what set him apart from many,”
Diano shot 17 movies for cinematographer William Fraker, a six-time Oscar nominee, from 1983-2002. Those films included War Games (1983), Murphy’s Romance (1985), Baby Boom (1987), Memoirs of an Invisible Man...

Let’s get this out of the way right off the top: Phil Alden Robinson’s Sneakers (a previous Best Movie You Never Saw entry) is one of the most criminally under-seen movies from the 90s – maybe of all time. Sporting an airtight plot, a phenomenal cast and splendid direction, it’s been relegated to cult classic status as opposed to just plain old classic status. And while there’s nothing wrong with being a cult classic, it’s just when a movie is this good, it’s always surprising to find there are so many people who’ve never seen it. Well, we’re here to change that the best way we know how, by cracking the code of what makes a great movie so special. So boot up your super-computers and draw down the shades – cuz you never know who might be watching you – and let’s find out Wtf Happened to Sneakers.

“Ferris Bueller may take a day off, but Matthew Broderick does not,” the two-time Tony winner vows upon his arrival in Tuesday’s Only Murders in the Building.
The stage veteran makes a meal out of his brief stint at the Arconia, playing a heightened (read: extremely pompous) version of himself in Episode 7. “I had worked with Matthew years ago [on the 2003 movie Good Boy], and he was a natural fit for this show,” series co-creator John Hoffman tells TVLine. Plus, Broderick’s Producers pal was already a member of the Only Murders comedy troupe.

Sooner or later, Ethan Hunt will face a mission he really ought not to accept. But for the time being, he remains the one man on Earth willing to attempt the impossible without questioning the motives of those who require his services. That’s the deal with America’s most dutiful Boy Scout, Tom Cruise, who’s carried the billion-dollar “Mission: Impossible” franchise across 27 years without losing steam. Compare that with Indiana Jones, who’s failed to connect with a younger generation, or the “Fast and Furious” movies, which aren’t running out of gas so much as guzzling the laughing sort.
“Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One” finds Cruise, now in his 60s, still running from one side of a very big, very wide screen to the other as if his life — and the lives of all 8 billion people on the planet — depended on it. This is Hunt’s seventh blockbuster outing,...

"Ferris Bueller's Day Off" remains the quintessential '80s story of teenage suburban revolt almost forty years after it was released. Matthew Broderick had already appeared on Broadway and made his big screen debut with "War Games" and the criminally under-seen medieval fantasy romance "Ladyhawke." But it was his role as a dashing high school rebel that sent his career into the stratosphere.
With all the natural charisma Broderick gave Ferris, it seemed perfectly reasonable that his character would be able to stay home, play sick, and skip school while still being the perfect son and the most popular kid in high school. Ferris made kids everywhere think they could do anything -- even jump on board a parade float lip-synching "Twist and Shout" in front of a roaring crowd. Everyone wanted to either be Ferris or be around him, and Broderick was electric in the part.

In a new interview, Matthew Broderick says he would occasionally “butt heads” with John Hughes during the making of the 1986 comedy classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
“He was not easygoing in some ways,” Broderick, 61, says of the late writer-director legend on The Hollywood Reporter’s It Happened in Hollywood podcast. “He was nervous it wouldn’t come out right.”
Broderick fondly recalls spending hours in Hughes’ swimming pool in Brentwood around the time of the filming, “smoking cigarettes and eating potato chips” as they discussed the role that would eventually shoot the actor, then 23, to superstardom.
But things got off to a bumpy start when filming began on location in Chicago in September 1985.
“I remember we did a costume test early on,” Broderick recalls. “We walked around the streets of Chicago in our costumes and they filmed us — me, Alan [Ruck], Jennifer Grey and Mia [Sara].
“That was a big drama.

Ready Player One was my most anticipated film of 2018. I am a huge fan of the book, which was written by Ernest Cline, because it is a love letter to the geek culture. It pays tribute to and honors all of the movies, video games, and music that I grew up with in my life, especially the 1980s.
For me, the 80s was such a magical era. My love for movies was born in 1982 when I saw Steven Spielberg’s E.T. and George Lucas’ Return of the Jedi. I have vivid memories of watching those films when I was a kid, and I just fell in love with film. Going to the movies has been my favorite thing to do since those days and I never get tired of it! I am inspired when go to the movies. I love all the feelings and emotions that I feel when I see them.

Despite the worst kind of pre-release buzz that a tentpole has seen in a long way, "World War Z" did not burst into flames upon its release earlier this year. In fact, it remains one of 2013's biggest hits to date.
The film's success wasn't a surprise to anyone who actually saw the film, which got the benefit of a new ending from Damon Lindelof and Drew Goddard.
Now for the Blu-ray release of the film, MTV News spoke with director Marc Forster about the film's success and what it was like to sit through all that bad press.
How has it been looking back on "World War Z" all these months later?
I'm excited, and I'm also excited because we're releasing the unrated version as well. For a filmmaker, seeing the PG-13 version of a film is always a little more restrictive. Some excited people can experience the unrated one.

Globally, World War Z made over $535M dollars this summer. For a movie that cost in the neighborhood of $200M, that’s not a bad haul, especially when you take into account the bad buzz leading up to the film’s release. General moviegoers probably couldn’t have cared less about the third act of a film being reshot, but for most movie nerds, it’s a knee-jerk warning sign. A movie that requires reshoots always draws negative attention despite presenting an opportunity to get some pickup shots, a scene to add some clarity, or in the case of World War Z, a whole new act. Even in the age of special features, we’ll probably never get to see the original ending that the reshoots made irrelevant. At the end of the day, the bad-buzz-creating gamble paid off with this well-liked zombie hit. Speaking with the film’s director Marc Forster it was obvious how happy...

As Fast 6 arrives on disc, we interview director Justin Lin about leaving the franchise, long runways, Community and Highlander...
When Justin Lin clambered aboard the Fast & Furious franchise with 2006's Tokyo Drift, it was in a very different state. Although still undoubtedly popular, its original stars had gradually drifted away, and it's just possible that, in less secure hands, it could have drifted into straight-to-dvd oblivion. Instead, Lin managed to not only gradually tempt the cast from the first two films to return in Fast & Furious 4, but with Fast Five, take the street racing series in another direction altogether.
A larger-than-life heist movie with added Dwayne Johnson, Fast Five breathed new life into the franchise, and became one of the ten top-grossing movies of 2011. This year's Fast & Furious 6 (or Fast Six, or Furious Six, depending on who you speak to) was an even bigger hit,...

New Delhi, Sep 13: Kajol lives in India's entertainment capital Mumbai and is surrounded by glitz and glamour. Despite this the actress, a mother of two, tries to shield her children from the limelight to ensure they lead a normal childhood.
But it's certainly not an easy task for Kajol and her husband, actor-producer Ajay Devgn.
"We have done as much as we could to take care of them, protect them and keep them out of the limelight," Kajol told Ians in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.
"At the end of the day, we want them to grow up as normal kids and want them to have as much of a chance at childhood as they can,".

Do you know the men I had to crawl through, the people that disrespected my body, my mind, my heart?," she asks. The singer -- whose real name is Stefani Germanotta -- may seem super confidant on the outside, but she too has to cope with feelings of insecurity. "I am—Stefani is—a perpetually tortured artist. That's why I changed my name. I can't be her in public.

"They F*cked Up The Mandarin!" No they didn’t. At best, The Mandarin has always been a B or C list villain, so what makes him so different to the numerous other villains that have been reimagined during their transition to the big screen? The reaction is easily explained; Marvel managed to fool fans and not everyone liked the fact that they had the wool pulled over their eyes. It was a damn clever twist that was extremely well received (with raucous laughter) in both the press screening I attended and the two regular showings afterwards. Did it make some people mad because of the way the character had been depicted in advertising? Marvel never lied to us, they just didn’t show us the full picture! At the end of the day, we’re talking about an extremely lame villain who simply did not fit into the Marvel...

"World War Z" was pretty much just a big ole' mess — it took several drafts to script, cost oodles more than it was supposed to, had to be retooled by outsiders and even then it still didn't make a ton of sense at times — but audiences threw half a billion dollars at it, so of course a sequel is in the works. That's a zombie-style no-brainer.
According to Brad Pitt, though, the pedal's not quite to the metal on "World War Z 2" just yet because he wants to make sure they've got a few things straightened out before they go full throttle on the second installment to the Zed Apocalypse ... ya know, unlike last time.
Speaking to Variety, while promoting Oscar fodder "12 Years A Slave" at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, Pitt said of the "Z" sequel, "We're certainly talking about it, yes. We have so many ideas on...

Though the main focus on Ron Howard’s new F1 biography drama Rush, is that of racers James Hunt and Niki Lauda, equally as important to the narrative are their wives – and we were fortunate enough to speak to German actress Alexandra Maria Lara, who plays the latter’s spouse Marlene.
Maria Lara, who has had starring roles in both Control and Downfall, discusses what she believes to be her biggest project to date, as she enthusiastically talks of her joy at working alongside director Howard. She also tells us of her working relationship with Daniel Brühl and Chris Hemsworth, as well as her own personal experiences with Lauda himself. The pregnant star – who is married to British actor Sam Riley – also tells us about her own future, speaking about directing one day and a potential move to Hollywood.
What attracted you to the role, and how did you get involved?...

My “Come Lucha Me” face. In Miami to celebrate the WWE Hall of Fame induction of luchador and cinematic monster slayer, Mil Mascaras.
I’m not a horror guy. Never have been. I know, it’s like I just shouted “Fire!” in a vintage magazine store. But before the panic sets in, allow me to tell you a little bit about myself and my journey through Monster-dom, and to provide a little context for such a blasphemous proclamation. As Forry before me was an open book, I think it’s only fair that you know just who it is that’s helming FM these days. At the end of the day, we make the magazine for you guys. While my personal tastes influence the magazine to a certain degree, it’s the voice of the fans that we listen to the most. It’s you guys who largely determine what it is that we cover.

Dig out your double denim, B*Witched return to our TV screens tonight in The Big Reunion: On Tour.
Digital Spy met up with Lindsay Armaou from the '90s pop combo to have a nostalgic catch-up.
We saw an awful lot of lows in the first series of Big Reunion. Were there ever any happy moments for pop bands in the '90s?
"The work does consume you and you kind of live in a kind of bubble in a pop band. It can be difficult mentally after a certain amount of time. Add that to the fact we were very young and more often than not, when you get into a pop group like that you are very young, and that can cause problems. It's quite a surreal environment to be in.

Now I’ll begin by telling you that before going into the cinema and taking my seat to watch Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, I wasn’t exactly excited or filled with confidence that I was about to watch some sort of groundbreaking fantasy film. I saw the first movie and it was what it was, an easy-going if ultimately flawed fantasy picture with plenty of charm to keep it from being terrible. I expected pretty much the same from the sequel, and that’s pretty much what I feel was given to me.
I haven’t read the book series, but I know plenty of people who have and they assure me that the movies are nothing like the books and...

The X Factor musical is starting to take shape, and this week Digital Spy got treated to a preview of three chucklesome songs from Harry Hill's much-anticipated show.
Of course, we don't want to completely spoil the experience of I Can't Sing before it opens at the London Palladium next spring, but we couldn't resist sharing with you some of our favourite Simon Cowell-baiting lyrics...
The first song up was 'Please Simon', where an ensemble of X Factor auditionees desperately appeal to the show's version of Cowell, played by ex-EastEnders star Nigel Harman, in a Les Mis 'At The End of the Day' style:
"Please Simon, I won't give up I'll keep trying, every single member of my family is dying."
Ooh, hitting Simon right where it hurts - right in the sob story.
"Please Simon, this is a talent I've mastered, what gives you...

In September 1997, my first year covering the Toronto Film Festival as an earnest young accredited journalist, I wrote the following: "I'm not sure how many years it has been going on, but one of the most enjoyable things that I've discovered at this year's festival are the 'Midnight Madness' screenings. The programmers have amassed an eclectic, diverse program ... this is the true spirit of the festival."
What I hadn't quite caught onto was that Midnight Madness, the Tiff showcase for the weird and the wonderful, had been going on for a decade by that point. Originally programmed by Noah Cowan (who would eventually become co-director of the Fest and is now the Artistic Director for Tiff's Bell Lightbox Theatre), this internationally renowned subsection of Tiff's film selection has grown under the steady hand of Colin Geddes, who started that same year I first discovered the programme's magic.

2Nd Update, 3:20 Pm: Time was not on Time Warner Cable‘s side with the NFL season looming. It looks like CBS got the big increase that it wanted but TWC was able to retain most if not all of the digital rights it was offered. It also picked up new rights to Showtime Anytime and VOD, which were not previously available to TWC subscribers. Said FCC Acting Chairwoman Mignon L. Clyburn on the end to the TWC-cbs content carriage dispute: “I am pleased CBS and Time Warner Cable have resolved their retransmission consent negotiations, which for too long have deprived millions of consumers of access to CBS programming. At the end of the day, media companies should accept shared responsibility for putting their audience’s interests above other interests and do all they can to avoid these kinds of disputes in the future.” Update, 2:40 Pm: CBS Corp. head...

Something was fishy when I arrived in the Philippines the day before the filming began to interview the 10 pairs set to compete in Survivor: Blood vs. Water. Namely, the fact that one of them was missing. Rc Saint-Amour (from Survivor: Philippines) and her father Craig, who were supposed to be one of the dynamic duos, were nowhere to be found. And the other contestants were just as confused as I was. Rc and her dad had indeed traveled over to the Philippines with the other cast members, and were staying at the same pre-game location with them. Then, all of a sudden,...

As is often the way with costume designers, Stephanie Collie is something of an unsung hero. We will not reel off her entire back catalogue, but it does include South Riding (2011, TV), Telstar (2008) Peter’s Friends (1992) and perhaps most exciting of all, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998).
Now, anyone old enough to remember when Lock, Stock arrived will remember just what an incredible influence its Mod inspired costumes had on the world of fashion. You could not pick up a men’s magazine of the time without seeing some guy in slim trousers and a jersey polo shirt. Stephanie Collie invented this look, thus providing one of the clearest examples of how costume design can transcend a movie and become something more. We would go so far as to say Stephanie Collie helped define an era.

Chicago – Even if “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints” hadn’t premiered this year, snagging two Sundance awards in the process, 2013 would still be considered a landmark year for David Lowery.
He brought an arresting poetry to Shane Carruth’s “Upstream Color” and Amy Seimetz’s “Sun Don’t Shine” through his hypnotic, artfully nuanced ending. Now one of indie cinema’s most indispensable collaborators has helmed a major, star-studded feature of his own.
“Saints” unfolds in a melancholic haze, as an escaped Texas outlaw, Bob (Casey Affleck), struggles to reunite with his estranged love, Ruth (Rooney Mara), and their young daughter. Ben Foster steals scenes as a compassionate police officer who falls for Ruth, while Keith Carradine exudes animalistic force as Ruth’s father, hellbent on ensuring that Bob keeps as far away from his daughter as possible. Zap2it: This season, your character, Elam Ferguson -- a former slave now working for the Union Pacific, building the Transcontinental Railroad -- has reunited with his love, former Indian captive and prostitute Eva (Robin McLeavy), who may or may not be carrying his baby. What's it been like to play that?
Common: It's a strong [relationship], and it's a conflicted one. It's one that outside circumstances can affect; it's one that inner demons can affect. Obviously she was pregnant at the end of last season, so coming into this season and seeing when the baby arrives -- those things are part of his arc and challenges. It's really just building that home that he wants, just to have a home and live a happy life.
Zap2it: It seems that whatever fate or the railroad throws their way, they just can't quit each other. Why is that?
Common: They can't.

Looking like Katie Holmes' very own “mini-me,” daughter Suri Cruise was decidedly unhappy on the set of Miss Holmes’ movie “Miss Meadows” Friday (August 23). As the pair walked together, Suri had a mini-meltdown, crying and tugging at her mommy’s skirt.

Dear Internet,

I wish I could say I was surprised, but that emotion too has long since gone out the window, right alongside your collective sense of shame, class, dignity, logic, and most importantly, patience.
No, what I really feel right now, less than 24 hours after seeing Twitter, forums, and entertainment websites all explode at the news of Ben Affleck’s casting as Batman in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman vs. Superman film, is exhaustion. Exhaustion tinged with anger and bitterness, because this cycle of overreaction during largely uninformed circumstances is slowly driving me crazy, but exhaustion nevertheless.

One man's junk is another man's treasure. That's certainly true on the smash reality series "Pawn Stars," where people venture into Las Vegas' Gold and Silver Pawn Shop to sell their bizarre and unbelievably cool possessions for big bucks. There is plenty of wheeling and dealing, but the show's main attraction is the guys running the establishment.
The entertaining staff -- which includes owner Rick Harrison, his son Corey, his father Richard [a.k.a. "The Old Man"] and Corey's childhood pal, Austin "Chumlee" Russell -- regularly quip and deliver brief history lessons on each item.
Chumlee is attending the Toronto Fan Expo over the next four days and spoke to HuffPost TV about the banter, loving his job and supposedly being dead.
HuffPost TV: For people coming into your store, is "Pawn Stars" an accurate depiction of what goes down, or is it all in the editing?
Chumlee Russell: It's an accurate depiction of what happens.

Hulkamania is about to run wild all over Toronto's Fan Expo when Terry "Hulk Hogan" Bollea opens up like never before for a no holds barred, falls count anywhere, no-disqualification Q&A session he's calling "Hulk Hogan: Uncensored."
Moderated by former WCW president Eric Bischoff inside the Metro Toronto Convention Centre's John Bassett Theatre, the Friday night event requires a separate ticket from Fan Expo proper, but will give Canadian Hulkamanics the opportunity to go one-on-one with The Hulkster and ask him anything they want.
Turns out they deserve it, because when we caught up with Hogan for our own Q&A, he revealed that fans played an important role in bringing him out from his post-divorce depression and his son's legal troubles to what is now the happiest time in his life.
