The Victim
Stars: Michael Biehn, Jennifer Blanc, Ryan Honey, Danielle Harris, Denny Kirkwood | Written and Directed by Michael Biehn
2011 was a busy year for Michael Biehn, with roles in Jacob, The Divide, Take Me Home Tonight, Puncture and Yellow Rock. And somewhere in between all that he managed, along with his wife Jennifer, to write, direct and star in the grindhouse-esque The Victim.
Biehn plays Kyle, a recluse living in a cabin in the woods, keeping himself to himself and spends his days and nights listening to self-help books and watching online self-help videos. However he unassuming life is shattered when Annie (Blanc) comes knocking at his door one night in a blind panic. You see Annie and her friend Mary (Harris) were partying it up in the woods with two cops, Harrison (Honey) and Cooger (Kirkwood), from the local Sheriff’s department when Mary, mid-coitus, is accidentally killed by Harrison.

There comes a time in every actor’s life when they have to make that choice, which is, to direct or not to direct. I’m sure that it’s not easy decision to make, but I would imagine that it’s the kind of decision that is well thought out and comes from a very creative place in the actor’s heart. The chance to tell one’s own story especially when the film in question is also written by said actor turned director. This is where we find Michael Biehn and his newest feature, The Victim.
Synopsis from Crimson Films:
Good time girls Anne (Jennifer Blanc) and mary (Danielle Harris) find themselves in a life and death situation. Annie’s life is put in jeopardy when she is witness to a violent act at the hands of two Sheriff’s Deputies. Fleeing from attackers (Ryan Honey, Denny Kirkwood...

As I sat in the Alamo Drafthouse last week, waiting to chat with Michael Biehn, I couldn't help wondering who exactly would show up.
In a career that has spanned more than three decades, Biehn has played every type of character imaginable. Would I be talking to the hardass Navy Seal from The Abyss, or the concerned dad from Havoc, or perhaps the crazy cowboy from Tombstone ?
Biehn was in town for SplatterFest, Houston's premier horror film festival, where he was presenting his debut as a writer/director, The Victim, a hard-charging revenge thriller that instantly morphs any theater into a smoky, sticky-floored grindhouse.
So, I shouldn't have been too surprised when the affable, low-key man who eventually sat down with me revealed himself to be neither a time-traveling freedom fighter nor a Special Forces soldier. No, the Michael Biehn I interviewed had assumed a brand-new role: filmmaker.

Yesterday Twitch ran a brief interview with Michael Biehn in which Biehn discusses his experiences as the director of The Blood Bond in which Biehn states that he feels the film was taken from his control and mishandled by producer Bey Logan. In the interests of getting both sides of the story we immediately forwarded this story to Logan and invited his comments, which follow below. From Bey Logan:I have noted Michael Biehn's comments in your interview, and would like to preface my own by thanking him publicly for his hard work on Blood Bond: Shadowguard.I am certain Michael did the best he could on the film. As his producer, I think I put an unfair amount of pressure on Michael by asking him to...

[Our thanks to The Night Crew co-host Thom Carnell for conducting the following interview.]Back in May James Marsh commented negatively about the then titled film Shadowguard (aka The Blood Bond: Shadowguard aka The Blood Bond) here at Twitch in a post regarding the domestic release of the trailer for Bey Logan's latest film, Beach Spike prompting a response from writer/director/actor Michael Biehn. In his note, Beihn said, "To call the movie referenced above my directorial debut is a farce. The role of Director includes several aspects of movie making which I had no part in. I was not involved in the casting, (nor did I write the script), I was not involved with editing, sound mixing, colorization, music, Adr, or any other aspect of...

Check out two trailers (including a red band ditty filled with an extra dose of the ol sex and violence) for Michael Biehn’s “The Victim”, his second flick as director (but first as writer) after “The Blood Bond”, his directorial debut that I’ve heard about and reported on, but haven’t seen much from. We’re getting a lot more on “The Victim”, though, including a snazzy poster. Check them out below, people who enjoy checking out Michael Biehn movies. Good time girls Annie (Jennifer Blanc) and Mary (Danielle Harris) went into the wilderness looking for a good time. But when Annie witnesses a violent act at the hands of two Sheriff’s Deputies, she is forced on the run and stumbles across Kyle (Michael Biehn), a recluse living in the woods. Watching Michael Biehn beat the crap out of people never gets old. I honestly don’t care what the movie is about or why Michael is angry — as long as he’s breaking bones or exchanging gunfire with a swarm of nameless enemies, I’m a pretty happy guy. “The Blood Bond”, which Biehn wrote and directed, looks like every action movie the guy’s ever made, minus “Aliens”. Of course, there might be a horde of homicidal extraterrestrials buried somewhere in the picture’s storyline, though I seriously doubt it. One look at the synopsis pretty much rules them out. Here’s the plot, courtesy of Far East Films: In a war-torn Asian land, peace lies in the hands of the Bagwun, a revered religious leader. When he is wounded in an assassination attempt, his sworn protector, Deva (Phoenix Chou), sets out on a dangerous journey to find the...

Though we're likely still a ways off from a proper theatrical trailer for Michael Biehn's directorial debut The Blood Bond a new sales reel has just arrived. And it's looking pretty fun, I have to say, in a very early 1980's sort of way. It's not that he's going self-consciously retro here but Biehn is, after all, a man who spent his formative years in a string of 1980s action hits and that influence is obvious here. And good on him for that because I miss those days.
For those who have missed our earlier coverage of this one, here's the synopsis again:
A world-renowned spiritual leader, Bagawans Muktananda, arrives in the Asian nation of Bandanesia to give a teaching to the faithful. Accompanying him is a retinue of monks and attendants, including his personal bodyguard, Deva (Phoenix Chou), a beautiful Eurasian girl with extraordinary physical prowess.

Oh, Bey. That's just not fair. With The Blood Bond - the debut feature from Bey Logan's start up production house B&E Productions - now in post production, the label has announced the rest of their upcoming production slate.
And what do you think is going to attract all the attention? Will it be animated feature Little Gobie? Michael Wong's Rogue Option? Or, perhaps, could it be Choy Li Fut, a period action film to be co-produced by and star the iconic Gordon Liu?
Nope. Not when the next film to go into production is beach volleyball themed action comedy Beach Spike, starring Chrissie Chau - pictured above - and The Blood Bond's Phoenix Chou. Let's be honest. This could be horrible and still make a big bag of money.

With production recently wrapped on Michael Biehn's directorial debut, The Blood Bond, we've gotten our hands on the first images from the film.
Welcoming Bagawans is security commander Chow (Simon Yam). As soon as Bagawans and his party reach their hotel, they are attacked by assassins from a rebel terrorist group.
Wounded, Bagawans needs to undergo a life-saving operation within 12 hours. However, his blood type is so rare that only a few donors can be found who can reach the capital in time to help. Rebel leader Lompoc obtains the same information, and has his agents kill off the donors one-by-one.
