Here in sunny old Australia mother nature is enjoying Christmas so much she’s even brought snow. For the unlucky Nothern Zoners caught in the crazy cold weather, your in luck!! No, I don’t have salt, but I do have the latest round up of Six Degrees news.

Within the past decade, as my reactions toward Lewis Black's comedy slaloms from giggling to amusement and finally to a benign stare, I've come to realize that Black is not so much a comedian as he is a masochistic exhibitionist. His act centers—nay, depends—on Black subjecting himself to things that infuriate him, which he then shares with the world at large on the stage. We're not so much watching someone tell jokes as we are heckling a convulsing sideshow. I suppose both have their places in comedy.
Like many, I first became familiar with Lewis Black through his long-running "Back in Black" segment on The Daily Show. The thing that makes that segment work so well is that Black's rant is contained to one topic, accompanied by video context, and wraps within minutes with either an ending punchline or an accusatory conclusion. It's swift and effective. This...

Mystery Train (Criterion Collection) I already reviewed this latest Criterion release last week (read that here), but the short of it is to say that while I am not a fan of the Jim Jarmusch films I have seen, this one really captured my attention. I can't say it's one for everyone, but I would hope if you read my review you should get an idea if it is one for you and on Blu-ray it is a beautiful presentation for a slow-paced film you wouldn't traditionally think needs a high definition presentation, but the photography by Robby Muller is well worth it. The Book of Eli Here is a decent film and I've watched about half of the Blu-ray so far and can say it's a solid presentation though it is much darker than I remember. I think...

For thirteen years, Lewis Black has been ranting and raving as a correspondent for The Daily Show, venting about all things political and pop cultural. For much longer than that, he's been a an actor, a playwright, and stand-up comedian, playing clubs and theaters everywhere around the country.
He taped his latest special, Stark Raving Black, earlier this month in Detroit for a fall release in theaters October 8th before it heads to a new premium Hb cable channel called Epix, where it will debut December 5. (Black also filmed a documentary about his transition from a writer to a comedian - he's unsure where that will end up). And Big Bang Theory fans will be happy to know he'll be doing a cameo on the show September 28. I spoke with him by phone last week.
Why release the new special theatrically?
In order to... I think... I've got no idea.
