- Shakira performs two songs and the pro dancers give a preview of next week's Argentine tango and paso doble. The stress of the competition is seen in a taped segment, along with visits from the children of four contestants.
- The ladies came up huge this week on "Dancing with the Stars" as the remaining five women landed among the top six couples on the leader board Monday night. But as we know, the judges' scores only tell half the story. Tuesday night was time to find out which couple would be the next to go home.
To the highlights: Mark Decascos said he was feeling "manly" after a Country Two-Step that earned high marks; Kelly Osbourne said "there is no better feeling" than dancing and having fun and hearing the crowd go nuts; Kym Johnson told Donny Osmond he let his light shine bright on the dance floor -- and he agreed.
Olympic swimmer Natalie Coughlin vowed to work on more romance for judge Len Goodman; singer Aaron Carter, who was told he was hard to watch, said he still felt like he "did a really great job; and ultimate fighter Chuck Lidell said that if he makes it beyond this week he will have "definitely exceeded everybody's expectations."
NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin said "only in America" could someone dance with a beautiful woman the way he did Monday and have his wife in the front row, cheering, "Good job!" Olympic snowboarder Louie Vito was railed by the judges and said, "At least I didn't cry," a reference to Aaron Carter's reaction last week. Derek Hough had trouble adding up 9, 8, and 9. Melissa Joan Hart had the biggest week-to-week improvement in show history, jumping nine points from her previous week and scoring a 10.
Play it again: Head judge Len Goodman had said Monday night that he would want to see Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough's Lambada again, but when the time came, he asked to see an encore of Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas' Charleston.
Be our guest: Shakira stopped by to further promote her new album, "She Wolf," performing the second single from the album, "Did It Again." Shakira returned later to perform her smash hit, "Hips Don't Lie."
Leader-board check: Before getting to the results, a quick check of the leader board...
Melissa & Mark, 28
Mya & Dmitry, 28
Joanna & Derek, 26
Natalie & Alex, 24
Donny & Kym, 24
Kelly & Louis, 23
Mark & Lacey, 22
Aaron & Karina, 18
Chuck & Anna, 17
Michael & Anna, 16
Louie & Chelsie, 16
To the results: The first couple safe was Mya & Dmitry, followed by Melissa & Mark. The first couple in the bottom two was Aaron & Karina.
Follow their lead: Pros Alec Mazo, Dmitry Chaplin, Louis van Amstel, Edyta Sliwinska, Cheryl Burke and Karina Smirnoff put on a tremendous display of next week's dances, the paso doble and the Argentine tango. Next week will also feature a group Hustle.
Back to the results: In no particular order, the next couple safe for next week was Kelly & Louis. They were quickly joined by Natalie & Alec, and by Joanna & Derek. That meant all the women were safe.
Two more couples were safe: Mark & Lacey and Michael & Anna.
After a well-edited featurette about the stress of the competition on each of the stars, Donny & Kym were pronounced safe.
The bottom three: With Aaron & Karina already in danger, the next couple safe was Louie & Chelsie. That meant Chuck & Anna were in danger with Aaron & Karina.
Len said that Chuck has been a great entertainer, but the star who would cope with next week's challenge of two dances the best was Aaron.
With that, Tom announced that the couple with the lowest combined point total between the judges' scores and the audience's vote was Chuck & Anna.
