Great Little Gem!

I'll agree, the first episode was a little hard to get into, but once you do, its just so clever. Anyone who's been in a very co dependent relationship like this will fall in love.

It's funny because it's true!

The characters all work really well together and I love the fact that they always manage to stay in the flat and never leave it. I kept wondering how they were gonna keep them there and was constantly surprised.

Great real life writing and acting.

I'd definitely recommend it to people who like BBC shows. (not something all Americans will appreciate, but will surely find a way to rip off down the line!)

Genius comedy from the everyday minutiae of life

I love watching Steve and Becky. It's hilarious comedy of the first order. When you can take the small things and create character driven comedy that resonates, then you've got likable characters doing some crazy things and it's funny. Things which we all may be guilty of having done, at some time or another. In the hands of unlikeable characters, it's just cruel and nasty humour. But Steve and Becky deliver that fine balance of making you laugh out loud without the guilt. The Laura and Paul and Dan characters may be broadly drawn, but we can give them license to bring characters to life, which face it, we all know a few of. I've known Paul's and Dan's and Laura's, and a few Shelly's. They're out there. We all know them. The chaos they cause in Steve and Becky's world, is brilliant fun. So what they say is a little more outrageous (or is it?) than your average, but that's the titillation that makes this show so watchable, isn't it? More episodes please!

An Original and Refreshing Comedy,

Him & Her is a terrific television series with superbly written episodes and a phenomenal comedic cast. The concept is incredibly refreshing and unique, having the first three seasons take place entirely in a small apartment, it genuinely never gets boring despite the limited space, as the richness of these characters and the dialogue that ensues between them is brilliant. The final season then has a much bigger setting, which I will not give away, but the transition is almost seamless and the writers do not forget to maintain the subtle nuances of these characters when making their circumstances bigger.

The only really gripe I have against the show is that there was not enough development given for Dan. He is a terrific character, as well as somewhat of an enigma, and I would love to have learned a good bit more about him before the series concluded than we did.

The cast is all around spectacular and convey their characters with great realism, while also maintaining the comedic moments with terrific ease. Russell Tovey and Sarah Solemami deserve the most credit, delivering a beautifully real, pure and honest depiction of an adult relationship. Kerry Howard was also brilliant, I absolutely despised Laura, which means she was doing a good job, Ricky Champ, Joe Wilkinson and Camille Coduri also shine, among several others.

Sweet, funny and different. There really is no other show like Him & Her, each episode manages to take you on a journey without even leaving a small apartment space, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good comedy series.

Follows a working class couple in their apartment as they are constantly pestered by friends and family.

One of the funniest and natural comedy series about i think personally, if you can't take a joke with what happens in it simply don't watch it but for those who can you will find that you will have a real giggle.

It basically is how some people live and what funny mistakes they make along living in there own flat.

The reactions to some of the scenarios that happen are also hilarious.

Not for those who rule there life around manners etc and take things too seriously.

Absolutely brilliant!

Hope to see more of it!

Funniest British comedy for years

Him and Her is a fantastic comedy. The writing is very well thought out because it is so simple like The Royle Family and thats why it is extremely popular. Laura is twisted character of I'm sure everyone knows of in real life. her nasty and sly comments to everyone and how self obsessed makes her one of the best characters in the programme. Russel and Sarah are perfect for the main role, playing a convincing couple which are adorable. This programmes focuses on characters rather than one liners, you have to know the characters to understand this and enjoy it. It seems very realistic and the characters are makes you laugh because you know its ridiculous but it is very real.

You grow to love the characters over time

downfalls: story lines take way to long progress in later episodes. Also some episodes can be very slow as nothing really happens.

The Good Stuff: the comedy is very relatable and witty of what a real life relationship is like for some people. characters are very convincing (becky) (steve) (dave) (paul) (shelly) and the character Laura you actually grow to hate her kerry howard did an amazing job in her roll to be that one person everyone hates.

Best Sitcom Ever! SRSLY!!

Let's make it short: Concept, writing, acting, filming, editing, performing and just every single detail in this show is perfect. Even the theme song is. It is a sitcom and if you like stuff like How I Met Your Mother, That 70s Show, Big Bang Theory, The IT-Crowd, My Girl, 2 Broke Girls, etc. then you will adore this show. I stumbled on it in the net and could not believe how bloody awesome it is compared to those. In my opinion it much superior to practically all other sitcoms out there, also it is very compact and its story-line had not been extended for ages like it had happened with mainstream shows like BBT or HIMYM. In the way the concept of the writing was realized it reminds me of quality shows like Sherlock. It is bloody f******g brilliant, seriously 100%, if you are into sitcom comedy and humor, go watch it instantly! PS: If anyone knows other shows like this, please let me know!

Rings true, but can you be bothered?

'Him and Her' is a rather strange comedy series. Following the undemanding rhythms of the lives of a couple of lazy twenty-somethings, it's bleak but grimly humorous. While there are some of the conventions of the genre on show (the nerdy single neighbour, for example), it nicely captures a sort of contemporary coziness and rubbishness, in a manner vaguely similar to shows such as 'Pulling'. But whereas 'Pulling' was hysterically funny, 'Him and Her' lacks both the inspired lunacy, or any sense of plot: each episode is nicely constructed, but it's hard to feel like anything really matters. Rather, it's a series almost entirely full of those moments that make you smile (in a rather revolted way) while you wait for the real gag. I felt I ought to like it more than I did; but sadly, I lost interest before it was through.

I have to say i love the show. All the characters give something to the show and don't listen to other reviews about Becky's sister laura. She's intentionally annoying but somewhat hilarious.

This is a good show, and funny. But, the Laura character is TOO UNLIKABLE!!! She is so arrogant, disrespectful, conceited, mean, selfish, and just plain annoying that as soon as she appears on screen I want her gone. I'm sure that's not the desired effect the character is supposed to have. The way she treats Shelly is just disgusting. Perhaps it's just that my tolerance for that type of character is very low. In the real world, I wouldn't even last 5 minutes in the same room with a person like that. I'd either chew her out, choke her out, throw her out of the nearest window, or just leave her presence never to return. Paul is kind of annoying as well, but everyone else is great. Dan is the man.

Realistic Romance Comedy Series

Him & Her is, at least for me, the most realistic television portrayal of a millennial couple I've ever seen. Russell and Sarah do an amazing job of making you believe they are in a long term, super comfortable relationship and they're incredibly funny while doing so. Steve and Becky remind me so much of my now husband and I that I'm going to be immediately rewatching this series with him. I'm American but watch a lot of British series, especially comedies, because I find them to be more realistic than our shows that make it seem like everyone is flawless and rich (I'm looking at you Friends) which gets quite boring. I've enjoyed every UK comedy show I've tried and Him & Her is now a favorite.

Don't expect fireworks or overstatement

I think this is a fair sitcom, to be honest. Very much a "bottle job", by which I mean basically one or two main sets, small amount of main characters and not much in the way of variation, basically like everything is contained in a small bottle.

It's not usually laugh out loud funny, though there are some amusing moments. It's not incredibly heartwarming but there are some understated sweet moments. The plots are inconsequential but engrossing enough as they play out, though I'm having a lot of trouble remembering even one right now so I think it's fair to label them as forgettable.

Basically, as it stands this is very much schedule filler for the BBC - charming enough but hardly unmissable TV. The main reason I watch it is to appreciate the looks and acting talent of Sarah Solemani, a striking brunette who really deserves something more substantial in terms of acting roles.

Slightly above average, but not much, hence a mere six out of ten is more than fair.

Unbearable

What began as a brilliant, honest, real portrayal of an ordinary relationship turned into a complete dirge. The Laura character became so unbearable as to make the whole thing absolutely unwatchable. The fact that no one, apart from Shelley - and that was for a tiny, brief moment - was unable to call her on it was unbelievable. I give this 4 stars because of how good it was originally but it became the most disappointing tv I've ever seen.

Great Writing, Great Cast, well worth watching (potential spoilers)

I was 're-directed' to this sit-com from one of Stefan G's later sit-com incarnation: 'Mum' which I had thoroughly enjoyed.

What I think makes this and indeed 'Mum' so captivating is the real-world, 3D rendering of the characters, their foilbles and situation. Steve and Becky inhabit bedsit land and blissfully so. However, Laura; Becky's sister and her fiance / soon to be husband; Paul are tragically drawn to one another mistaking their initial (physical?) attraction for one another as love. Laura's pathologically low self-esteem drives her envious nature of others and constant need for attention at whatever cost.

I (like to) think in conclusion (having now watched the entire series), the take home on this is that happiness comes from within and is not related to money or status (Becky and Steve have neither money or jobs).

Watch this and then watch 'Mum' - you can see parallels in the characterisation, albeit with the different characters between the two.

Relatable sitcom, great actors, awesome

Absolutely fabulous and so reliable to my and my partner when we first got together; lazy and obsessed with each other, without a care in the world Russell Tavoy and Sarah Solemani are absolutely amazing and have such good chemistry on screen, Joe Wilkinson was made to play Dan, the nerdy, weird, awkward neighbour who's always there even if he's not wanted, and Kerry Howard is excellent as Laura, one of the most annoying characters in TV history.

The episodes don't have stories, but that's the point. Much like most young couples you go from one thing to the next without any consequences, nothing matters when you're young and in love.

My only downside is the wedding of Paul (played by Ricky Champ and Laura (Howard), I feel that this took away from Becky (Solemani) and Steve (Tavoy) and I for one would very much like to see another mini series in 2024, seeing how it all worked out for Becky and Steve.

Awful and unappealing "sit com"

I had heard and read that this was the best thing BBC3 had ever done, that its naturalistic style was a mature nod to the sorts of things we get from HBO, and that it was something any adult could watch and enjoy. What I saw though was one of the most excruciating, unamusing, dirty and unpleasant half hours of TV I've ever seen. There's not much to say, other than that in the opening episode the main recurring gags revolved around the Spice Girls and Titanic (has this script been on a shelf for 12 years?) and someone taking a dump and then not flushing the toilet. This is mature, contemporary, adult comedy?

The characters, which in my view ultimately make or break any drama or sitcom, are utterly repellent. We are supposed to be charmed by the easy going laziness of the central Him and Her, but in the closing minutes of the first episode they are both shown taking smug satisfaction in the misfortune of others, rendering them entirely unsympathetic, horrible people. The peripheral characters (from whom much of the plot, what there is of it, derives) are stereotypes, neither amusing nor credible.

Plenty of low-brow "Sit", then, but no "Com" to be found here. I can't think of a single positive thing to say about it. There have been innumerable vulgar, unfunny, juvenile "comedies" offered up by BBC3 over the years but if this isn't the nadir, it's pretty close. As it's on BBC3 it will be on about 18 times a week - but try to avoid it if you can.

Very Poor

I know we are all entitled to an opinion, but when I see 10 out of 10 for this when I think of comedies that had me hurting so much through laughter this was not it.

From Only fools & Horses to One Foot in the Grave to Porridge, well I'd happily watch repeats of these.

I watched the first episode and it was painful, awkwardly so, from the neighbour who kept coming round, to the spider bit at the end.

I smiled at one line, but really this won awards?

Started good, became a bit annoying

Started watching this after a lot of suggestions for UK Sitcoms. It started off quite good. However it being shot ONLY in their apartement can become a bit boring to watch, still since that was the essence of the show, I liked it. Sarah Solemani is a really good actor and brings out the chemistry in between them, However,Steve played by Russel Tovey becomes very annoying to watch after a while. Its only made worse by the role other supporting actors. It moves from funny to plain irritation. God forbid should it happen as such in real life, it makes no sense to continue being freinds with such people. Overall, it becomes REALLY annoying to watch after season 2. The characters are just too bloody irritating to be funny anymore. Really surprised how so many have liked it so far.

A load of bollox

For some reason all new comedies are about awkwardness and imperialist sense of humour, they are badly acted by the main cast and they think they are so funny. What is annoying about this one especially is that the actors are all conscious of the fact they are making a comedy and try too hard to make the emptiness and things that shouldn't be funny in the first place be funny simply by acting like a goon, thereby ruining any chance of it being a good show. The only good actor was the crazy guy from Wayne's world 2 who killed the man and his son with a shoe and he was also in Withnail and i, that's cause he's a legend, the rest of the cast duck monkey ding dongs. This show in general is just really bad and dispiriting to the human race
