Few works of modern fiction have the kind of legendary reputation or the wealth of stories as "One Piece." Whether the original manga by Eiichiro Oda or the anime adaptation of the same name, "One Piece" has outlasted many of its would-be successors and several of the titles it inspired.
"One Piece" follows Monkey D. Luffy, a young boy who dreams of becoming king of the pirates and finding the titular One Piece, a legendary treasure left behind by the previous pirate king, Gold Roger. To achieve his dreams, Luffy sets out to assemble a crew and navigate the Grand Line, a treacherous ocean route home to many dangers, and occasionally gets involved in toppling local governments and inciting revolutions.

Fuji TV announced last week that a television anime special, One Piece Episode of Luffy: Hand Island no Bōken (One Piece Episode of Luffy: The Hand Island Adventure), will air on Saturday, December 15th, 2012 at 9:00pm. (The One Piece television anime series normally airs on Sunday mornings.)
This Hand Island no Bōken special is separate from the four consecutive television episodes that will start airing on December 2nd with a tie-in story to the upcoming One Piece Film Z. (The film will also open on December 15th, 2012.)

Paris -- The Annecy International Animation Film Festival will blow out its 50th birthday candles this year with a different toon thanks to a colorful slate of all-star guests, including Jeffrey Katzenberg, Matt Groening and Ari Folman, plus several international film premieres and professional conferences, organizers confirmed Monday. The fest kicked off Monday.
Folman will head the Feature Film Jury, which will vote on competition titles from across the globe -- this year with a particularly Asian flare.
