- The episode begins with Zoe on Venus walking towards the Gamma object. The distance is too great for her to return safely. She is driven by the sounds of a baby. Donner and the crew realize it is Donner's baby. Zoe ignores instructions to return. She reaches Gamma, which appears to be a newborn. She picks it up and returns to the ship. On the way, her suit fails and some sulphuric acid from the planet reaches in. She is burned on 1/2 of her body but lives. Subplots: (1) Morales realizes her dog Hector was saved by a potential child rapist from whom she had run away. Zoe survives, and there is question about whether the genetic changes in the crew's bodies is helping them survive beyond typical human endurance; (2) the ground based crew member who ran over the girl locates her in the hospital, but then is faced with police; (3) one of the controllers tips off the prying journalist that the video feed of the Venus walk given to the press was fake, and pre-recorded; (4) the head of the mission ends up complimenting Zoe and Donner on having "real courage".
