Mix of Nostalgia and Contemporary automotive appreciation
It's nice that the product behind the program (Meguiars Car Care products) isn't rammed down the viewer's throat...they tactfully wait for the commercial interruptions. "Car Crazy" relies on a pure format and remains true to its title, unlike a lot of other automotive programs, which are thinly-veiled infomercials, punctuated by what else? More advertisements!! Ironic, because it is sponsored by the company which bears the host's family name. As for the show's host, he's also the Meguiars company's front man. He seems quite taken by both his subject matter and his interviewees. But I often get the impression that his up close and personal guests are about to get molested on camera (very touchy-feely). I don't watch Car Crazy much anymore, mainly because the host creeps me out.
