Mr. Heckendorn comes in and Danny tells him they will stop making noise but Mr. Heckendorn says to continue. As they continue rehearsing Mr. Heckendorn keeps a close eye on his watch. Suddenly Mr. Heckendorn stops the song and informs Danny he has broken his lease by making excessive noise after 11 o'clock and will be evicted.
The next day after Danny unsuccessfully tries to reason with Mr. Heckendorn not to evict them, Linda decides to invite Mr. Heckendorn over for coffee and a rum cake. Mr. Heckendorn agrees to come up. While baking the rum cake Danny and Louise tells Linda not to scrimp on the Rum, with Louise going as far as adding extra rum to the mix when Linda isn't looking. Linda once alone and about to put the cake mix into the oven decides maybe they were right and adds more rum to the mix herself.
When Mr. Heckendorn comes over Danny and Linda sit down and try to charm him into letting them stay in the apartment. At first Mr. Heckendorn is cool to their charm but has they all start eating the cake everyone becomes overly cordial. When Linda mentions that they are being evicted Mr. Heckendorn, who now wants to be referred to as Hecky, is outraged that anyone would want to evict his good friends and assures them they have nothing to worry about.
The next morning Mr. Heckendorn shows up, with an obvious hangover, to try to piece together what had happen the previous night and is so overwhelmed buy how nice the family is to him that he agrees to let them stay. Later that night as the family helps Rusty rehearse again Mr. Heckendorn barges in and demands that he will evict them if Linda doesn't make another cake at once.
