- Deathstorm triggers the griefs within each member of Team Flash, to empower his bride-to-be and make them suffer. While the others fight their personal demons, only Mark, and Frost can save the others and destroy Deathstorm once and for all.—Gislef
- Eddie tells Iris that he's missed her so much, and Iris insists that it isn't possible. He offers to make her tea, and say that he's not leaving until she's better. Sue wakes up and asks why Eddie is there, and Eddie introduces himself as Iris' fiancée.
In Central City, CCPP orders a citywide curfew Barry returns to STAR Labs and reports to the others that there's no sign of Deathstorm anywhere. Chester tells him that the Mental Augmentation Chamber is just like he remembered, and Barry explains that they'll use the MAC to beam particles from Deathstorm's home dimension into Frost, and transform her into a being like Deathstorm, consuming Deathstorm's fuel source and snuff him out for good.
Caitlin calls everyone to the medlab, and Barry speeds there. Cecile tells the team that she's getting another wave of grief, and Caitlin says that she keeps picturing her father dying in her arms. Barry figures Deathstorm needs Caitlin to feel more grief before he can transform her, Frost tells Caitlin to hang tight and calls in Mark as backup. Barry asks Cecile if she can feel Deathstorm, and she says that she can't, like he's disappeared.
Chester is walking along the hall way with parts for the MAC when the lights go out.
In the lounge, Allegra is pouring herself coffee when the lights flicker.
In the Time Vault, Barry is consulting with Gideon about Iris' time illness. He asks the AI to run a search for interdimensional energies, and the hologram of Gideon fritzes out. The lights go out.
Frost goes to the main lab, where the monitors show Deathstorm is there. Deathstorm appears as Ronnie and says that he's everywhere, and shrugs off Frost's cold blast when she attacks him. He says that he's the embodiment of death and entropy.
Allegra , Chester, and Barry see persons from their past; Esperanza, Quincy, and Barry's mother Nora. They tell each other what they're confronting over the comms, and Ronnie cuts them off. Frost threatens Ronnie, who says that the real Ronnie died in the singularity, and he "taught" Deathstorm loneliness, which is why he wants Caitlin as his bride. Frost rams an ice blade into Ronnie's chest, but Ronnie says that it has no effect. He tells Frost that his grief ghosts only appear to those who grieve them, and none will appear to Frost. He explains that Frost's grief isn't real, and says that her emotions are an echo of real emotion, like she's an echo. Ronnie tells Frost that he can't sense any loss inside of her, and all she has of her own is the rage, healing, and cyrokinesis Thomas gave her, and he copied Caitlin for the rest. He says that grief and pain are what make people truly alive, and Frost doesn't have them, because she's not a real person. Frost tells Ronnie to shut up, and he disappears.
Allegra runs to Chester, Esperanza blasting her. When Allegra runs into Chester, he has her duck into the main lab with him and seals the door. He says that he lost his father, and they wonder why the ghosts don't walk through the walls. The door lock heats up, and Allegra figures the ghosts chased them in there on purpose.
Barry says Nora isn't her mother, and touches the wall, but burns his hand. Nora tells him to stop and says that she loves him, and says that there's no cure for Iris' temporal sickness. She says that he's going to lose Iris, and he can't have a family, just like all of his family has died, and there's nothing he can do about it.
Eddie pours Iris tea and offers to get Sue a cup. She declines and glares at Iris, who suggest that Eddie make them some tea. As he goes to the refrigerator, Iris motions to a phone on the end table and Sue goes for it. Eddie says that he's what Sue is doing, and the phone burns her. Iris and Sue run for the door, but the knob burns Iris' hand. Eddie tells them that no one is leaving until Iris is better,
At STAR Labs, Frost goes back to the medbay and Cecile tells her that Caitlin is getting worse and she doesn't know why. Cecile senses that there's more grief coming, and Caitlin's eyes turn solid black for a moment. Caitlin's vitals spike, and Cecile says that she's feeling the team's grief, pain, and sadness. It's all pouring into Caitlin, and Frost figures Deathstorm send the ghosts after them because the more grief they feel, the more it pours into Caitlin. Caitlin growls that she burns for home.
Cecile says that she'll try to stop the wave of grief. Mark comes in with a stolen cryogenic part they can use with the MAC, Frost tells him that Caitlin will be okay once they get MAC working, and she and Mark head to it.
Allegra tries to blast a hole in the door but it's too thick because it's made of titanium. Chester's technology fritzes because of the heat, and Quincy appears in the room and tells Chester that they've got 20 minutes until they go into hypothermia. Allegra tells Chester that nothing the ghost says means anything, and Chester says that he's getting the door open. Quincy continues talking, saying that the results in science or black and white. He figures that Chester and Allegra love each other, and they'll watch each other die. Esperanza appears and tells Allegra that she'll get to watch her die.
Barry asks Nora what she wants, and Nora says that he wants to prepare him for the fact that once Iris dies, Bart and the younger Nora won't exist. Nora tells Barry that his legacy isn't heroism, but heartbreak. Barry tells her that she'll never understand is that love is a strength, not a weakness. He says that the people he loves makes them fight harder, and he's going to fight for Iris. Nora asks him why he didn't fight for her, and Barry yells that Thawne killed his real mother, and as much as it hurt him, he's accepted her death. Nora asks about the rest of them, and Barry clutches at his head in pain as he remembers everyone else close to him who died. She asks him if he's accepted their deaths as well.
Barry figures that "Eddie" is another ghost, and Eddie points out that Barry isn't there, and she's waiting to die. Sue says that Iris isn't going to die, and Eddie says that she is and Iris knows it just like he knew. He thought his sacrifice would mean something and he could finally be a hero, but then Thawne came back and he died for nothing, and now Iris has made the same mistake. Iris says that she saved Barry and stopped Armageddon, but Eddie tells her that the timeline got reset but she's still suffering the consequences, and her death will be as pointless as his.
Eddie realizes that Sue is happy, and she tells him that she managed to hit the panic button on her phone. Joe comes in and uses a blaster on Eddie, They try to run, but Eddie recovers and makes Joe and Sue suffer their personal griefs. Eddie says to Iris that with their grief, Caitlin's transformation will be complete.
Mark puts the component into MAC, and Frost enters the chamber. Working the controls, Mark feeds the particles into Frost. Frost staggers out and tries to activate her new powers, but nothing happens. She figures that the machine only works on people who are alive, and the problem is her. Frost explains that Mac won't work on someone who has a consciousness, and she says what Deathstorm said. Mark figures that Deathstorm is messing with Frost, but Frost isn't convinced and explains how she was trapped in Caitlin's subconscious for years.
Frost figures that it doesn't matter what she does, because she'll always be a copy of the original. Mark points out that she's the only person he's ever cared about equal to himself, and he's seen her have lots of emotions. The love she has from Caitlin is love she built for herself, and it's as real as it gets. Frost wonders why Deathstorm couldn't find her grief, and Mark suggests that she has it buried so deeply that Deathstorm couldn't find it. Considering, Mark realizes how they can complete her transformation.
Joe and Sue suffer their grief, and Iris tries to convince them it isn't real. She tells Eddie that he isn't going to get any grief from her, and Eddie collapses to his knees, his chest bleeding. He says that the real Eddie died, and says that Iris is also going to die. A bullet wound appears in her stomach, and Iris insists that it's not real. Eddie tells her that she's going to lose everything she's worked for.
Esperanza continues to taunt Allegra, saying that Allegra is not only watching Chester die but everything she could have had with him. Quincy tells Chester that he and Allegra are going to die because Chester isn't smart enough. Chester collapses and Allegra goes to him, and tells him not to feel bad because that's how they want them to feel. Allegra says that she's happy she met him, and Chester agrees as they hold hands.
Nora tells Barry to let his sorrow wash over him, so the bride can be born.
Mark and Frost go to the medbay, where Caitlin talks about the endless stars. Frost tells the comatose Caitlin that she was afraid she would only live half a life, but Caitlin makes her life complete. She's worried that she's going to lose Caitlin forever, and that bothers her and she's going to die.
The ghosts absorb the grief from their victims.
Frost transforms, and Mark tells Cecile that Frost's transformation needed the chemical reaction cause by grief. For it to work, Frost had to let herself feel it. As Frost finishes her transformation, Cecile can feel the power radiating off of her, and Frost says that she's now Hellfrost. She releases a burst of energy, destroying the ghosts and absorbing the grief into herself. Cecile senses that the rest of the team is okay, and Hellfrost says that it's time to kick ass and save her sister.
The others return to the lab, and Cecile confirms that Caitlin is getting worse. Deathstorm has been sent back to his home dimension, but he can come back and torture them again. Hellfrost says that she's the only one who can stop Deathstorm, and Barry will back her up. Mark works out that Barry is Flash, and Hellfrost kisses Mark to give him something to remember her by. He tells her to save her sister, and he'll be there when she gets back.
Mark and the rest of the team monitor the lounge. Deathstorm appears and finds Caitlin there, her back to him, and he says that he can sense that she's filled with grief and now his bride. "Caitlin" turns, revealing that she's Hellfrost using a projector, grabs Deathstorm, and flies up into the sky. The two of them separate and fight in midair, and Deathstorm slams Hellfrost into a building. She drops to the pavement below and touches Deathstorm when he drops down, releasing the grief energy in him. Hellfrost absorbs the energy and destroys Deathstorm, and Chester confirms that the energy is gone. Caitlin wakes up and Cecile tells her that Hellfrost saved her. Hellfrost tells the others that she's not feeling good and collapses.
Flash speeds to Hellfrost and finds her unconscious. He returns Hellfrost to STAR, and Caitlin checks her in the medbay. The others tell Mark that Frost will be okay and he needs to give Caitlin space to work. Caitlin figures Deathstorm has millennia to adapt to the power, but Frost didn't and it's overwhelming her. She injects Frost with cold fusion to kick in Frost's healing and bring her back. Frost transforms back to her normal self and wakes up, but then flatlines when her ice healing doesn't kick in. Caitlin tries to defibrillate her sister, but it doesn't work and neither does the CPR that Caitlin attempts. Barry finally stops Caitlin when it's clear her efforts aren't working.
CCPD lifts the curfews, and the others gather in the lounge to watch the news. Mark says that he's been thinking, and he and Frost had a lot of plans and talks about how he just wants to make Frost smile, and there's nothing better than that. Barry and Caitlin come in, and tell the others that Frost died. Mark and Caitlin break into tears, and the others mourn. Cecile goes to Caitlin to comfort her.
