- Deathstorm talks about the universe burning, but there is life in some universes and it's an aberration, and says that he's come to end life., He tells Caitlin that he's complete because of her, and touches her with his black flame. Flash arrives and unleashes a lightning bolt, separating Deathstorm from Caitlin, and Deathstorm blasts Flash back. Deathstorm says that it's not enough, and he'll be back. Allegra and Frost come in as Deathstorm flies off, and Frost goes to the unconscious Caitlin. Flash recovers and tells the two women that his lightning didn't affect Deathstorm, and Caitlin lies gasping in shock.
Later, the team gathers in medbay and Caitlin says that she feels lucky to be alive. She tells the others that Deathstorm wasn't Ronnie, but doesn't know where Deathstorm came from or what he is. Caitlin says that Deathstorm told her that she made it whole, and she blames herself for not listening to Barry and summoning Deathstorm. Frost wonders why Deathstorm is trying to kill Caitlin now, and Barry says that they need to find out. Allegra reports that Chester is using satellites to try and track Deathstorm, and they need to keep Caitlin safe if Deathstorm comes back for her. Barry says that they will and send Deathstorm back to wherever it comes. Frost vows to protect Caitlin.
Cecile arrives and asks Barry how she can help, and Cecile senses with her empathy that Barry is emotionally hurting, badly. She asks what's going on, and Barry tells her that he doesn't know where Iris is. He gets a text, tells Cecile that Iris is back, and speeds to the hotel in Coast City. Iris is there with Sue, and Iris tells Barry not to touch her because the last person who did disappeared due to her time sickness. They wonder how Iris survived Tinya's attack, and Barry figures that Iris' time sickness pulled her into the Still Force at the same moment that Tinya attacked her.
Sue leaves to give the couple some space, and once they're alone Iris tells her husband that she didn't mean to make Tinya's mother disappear. Barry assures Iris that it will be okay, and touches her comfortingly. Nothing happens, and Iris says that when she was in the Still Force, she saw her past but not her future. She wonders what happens if she doesn't have a future, and Barry hugs her and tells her that she has a future with him.
In Central City, a man sits on a park bench holding flowers and crying. He hears someone moving in the nearby park and gets up, and drops his flowers as Deathstorm grabs him and soars up into the sky. A few seconds later Deathstorm drops the man's charred corpse back down to the street.
The next morning, Sue rejoins the couple and Barry gets a text alert from Kristin, the first time she's used it. They figure that it's serious and Sue tells Barry that she'll watch over Iris. Once Barry speeds off, Sue suggests they order in a five-course meal and distract themselves. Iris agrees and Sue uses her phone to order.
At the CCPD, the police are getting calls about Deathstorm appearances. In Kristin's office, Flash and Joe tell Kristin that things are going to get worse. Kramer comes in and says that they have more confirmed victims. Once Kramer leaves to call in reinforcements, Flash tells Kristin that they believe Deathstorm is feeding off of people's grief, and they don't know how to fight it. Kristin wonders how Joe managed to deal with metas, and Joe says that he was in her position once and had Flash watching his back. Until they figure out Deathstorm's weakness, Flash will patrol the city and Joe will help Kristin coordinate. Flash speeds off, and Kristin says that they have to lock down the city.
Kristin goes to the bullpen and tells the officers that the city is under attack, and the streets aren't safe for anyone grieving. She tells them no to engage Deathstorm, and they should keep civilians out of Deathstorm's way while Team Flash deals with the creature. Anyone who sees Deathstorm should call it in and then get to safety.
At STAR Labs, Allegra goes through Deathstorm's files and finds no clue to where he went. Barry and Chester have found nothing, and Allegra figures that Deathstorm just shows up to feed and then disappears. Cecile comes in and says that she can sense their frustration, and Chester explains that since Deathstorm took on humanoid form, Chester can no longer track the black flames. When Allegra wonders how Caitlin is doing, Cecile reports that Caitlin is still shaken up. Barry gets an idea and tells Cecile that she's going to help them find Deathstorm. Chester figures that if they can sync the lab's monitors with Cecile's empathy, and sync her mind up with Deathstorm, could let them track Deathstorm. Cecile agrees despite the danger to her.
That night, Caitlin and Frost are in the Speed Lab together. Caitlin still blames herself for creating Deathstorm, but Frost tells her sister that she's not to blame and Deathstorm used her grief to manipulate Caitlin. Caitlin isn't convinced why it hurts so much, and Frost says that she loved Ronnie and he's still a part of her.
Iris sleeps on the couch while Sue reads a book. Deon teleports in and Iris wakes up, and Iris tells him that her headaches are getting worse. She tells him about the woman she disappeared, and Deon says that he only saw what happened when it became the past, but he can't see the future. Iris figures her time sickness is spreading into the Still Force and has infected Deon, which is why he didn't see it coming. Once he gets his strength back, he'll look for Tinya's mom. Deon admits that he can see everyone's future except Iris, and if they don't slow down Iris's sickness then she could disappear for good. He suggests the use the same app that they used to track Tinya, to track Iris. Deon puts a bit of temporal energy into Iris and says that he can track her with it, then tells her to try and anchor herself to the present while he searches for a cure. He realizes something is wrong, collapses in agony, and disappears.
Chester finishes hooking up Cecile to the monitors, and tells her to focus on large pockets of grief. Once they have a location, Flash will take over. Cecile senses a pocket of grief coming from STAR Labs. The lights go out, and Cecile's eyes turn black. Deathstorm speaks through her and tells Chester and Barry that they won't find her until he's ready. He says that he and Cecile are one and Chester can't break the connection, and Barry warns Deathstorm against hurting Cecile. Deathstorm just laughs and says that they can't stop him, and they only will survive if they give him Caitlin. The villain says that he can feed on the tiny bits of grief coming from them, and Barry says that they've already faced their grief. Deathstorm tells him that there's only the smallest morsel left behind, and that's why they can't stop him.
Cecile reverts to normal, and tells her teammates that Deathstorm overwhelmed her emotions. She says that she could feel Deathstorm's determination, and he'll never give up on getting Caitlin.
Allegra is walking down the hallway when her sister Esperanza appears to her. Allegra figures the apparition isn't her sister, and figures that Esperanza is working for Deathstorm. The two of them blast each other.
Barry, Cecile, and Chester hear the energy blast, and Chester picks up the source on the monitors. Flash figures that it's Allegra and speeds there to find Allegra on the floor. Allegra warns him about the "ghost", and it's one of the "grief freaks" like Chester's father. She says that the two of them blasted each other, and then Esperanza disappeared. Allegra wonders why Deathstorm is haunting her.
Sue tells Iris that she shouldn't obsess about Deon, and tries to cheer her up. Iris talks about being married to a speedster made her think she has all the time in the world, but she doesn't and it feels like she doesn't have a future. Sue tells Iris that her time isn't yet done. Iris flickers in and out of the timestream, and clutches at her head in pain. Sue tells her to fight it, and she has way too much to live for. She reminds Iris of her family and tells her to anchor herself to them. Iris manages to stabilize herself.
Joe finds Barry in the lounge, and figures that he's trying to figure out what to do next. Sitting down, Joe tells Barry that once Barry was unprepared, faced supervillains, and defeated them all. Barry wonders how they stop Deathstorm when they don't know why Caitlin is his target, and Joe tells Barry that he has to be someone who fights the odds no once. He assures Barry that eventually he'll find a way to defeat Deathstorm, and until then he should do what he does best: run into the unknown and trust himself. Joe says that Barry is better prepared than he thinks.
In the speed lab, Caitlin dozes while Frost sketches. They hear Deathstorm and Frost looks for him while Caitlin wakes up. Deathstorm appears and blasts Frost unconscious, and then tells Caitlin that now her life ends.
Chester confirms on the monitors that Deathstorm took Caitlin, and he's heading somewhere fast but can't determine where. Flash speeds after Deathstorm through the street, but Deathstorm is too high for Flash to reach. Flash uses the kinetic absorbs in his boots to run up into the air, projecting lightning ahead of him to run into the sky after Deathstorm. Deathstorm disappears into a portal, and Flash loses his footing, and manages to break his fall. Chester has no idea where Deathstorm went.
At Ripley's Wild World just outside of Central City, , Deathstorm appears with Caitlin and scans the crowd for their grief. He unleashes a wave of black flame, killing four, and Deathstorm absorbs the grief from their bodies. Caitlin tells Deathstorm to go ahead and kill her, and he says that he's come to end his loneliness, and she'll become his bride. He touches her and surrounds her with black flame.
Caitlin appears on Chester's monitors, and Chester directs Flash there. When Flash arrives, he finds the corpses and Caitlin kneeling on the floor. Flash approaches her, and Caitlin tells him that Deathstorm told her that she's not ready.
Back at STAR Labs, Caitlin tells Barry and Cecile that she's not aging. Cecile senses a vast pool of grief in Caitlin, who figures that Deathstorm didn't intent to hurt her and they're changing her. She repeats what Deathstorm told her, but she wasn't ready yet. Caitlin figures that Deathstorm wants them to be together, and he's using the grief to change her and he needs more. She clutches at her head in sudden pain, and says that he has to rest. Barry tells Cecile and Frost to guard Caitlin while he finds a way to stop Deathstorm.
Barry meets with Chester and Allegra, and says that he saw inside of Deathstorm's portal, and what he saw inside as a singularity like the one that appear before. He figures that Ronnie's grief traveled through the singularity, creating Deathstorm. Deathstorm was trapped there, and now that he's complete he can move between dimensions. It took Deathstorm seven years to get there because of the distance he had to travel. Chester figures out he can use the Mental Augmentation Chamber to emit singularity particles. However, they need a person to contain the energy. Frost comes in and offers himself, and Barry says that they can't ask her to do it. Frost says that she was created to keep Caitlin safe, and that was what she was born to do.
At the hotel, Sue is sleeping and Iris senses something watching them. She gets up and looks around, and hears something snarling. She turns to find Eddie Thawne there, and he smiles and says that it's good to see her.
