You can predict the story, but the acting and plot twist shines!
villadsrasmussen-425845 December 2021
It is basically that what the title says. If you have seen the episode, you know what I am talking about. Something of those types of episodes can you almost guess how its going to turn out, though after the story is finished, an plot twist accrues that would blow any Flash fan away!

But the acting in this episode were so much better than the other ones. Iris has a lot of emotion, which is handled mildly better than how she normally reacts, and all the other characters that are going through tough things also shines more than what they may need to show, but for the sake for the episode, they really do a good job. I especially like Barrys and Jeffersons dialogue scenes, which were a treat.

You surely wouldn't want to miss this episode like all the others, and others to come in the event!

Frustration.
wetmars13 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Barry vents to Black Lightning, and that his powers need to be removed, but Black Lightning warns him if he takes away his power, it will be permanent. Meanwhile, the Team talks about Joe's death. Iris shows them the footage of Joe's final moments, and in the last possible second, it seems like he disappeared. Cecile shouts at Iris since she is upset since she's been trying to move on from Joe's death, and had to watch his supposed "final moments". Cecile explains some wacky complex explanation- Iris and Allegra arrive at the same train station where Joe supposed died. Iris sees something, but she has recent time sickness. Neither can Allegra detect anything in the electromagnetic spectrum. The two question a train monitoring fellow. After watching the actual footage, Iris changes her mind to thinking of it as an accident.

Cecile seeks mental help from a strange woman known as Dillion. Barry and Black Lightning have a decent discussion about losing their loved ones. Although I wish I could watch more of Black Lightning, I just don't "vibe" with the overall tone. Barry finally finished constructing the final conduit installing it on Black Lightning's tech. Black Lightning uses his voltage powers on Barry. Iris again sees the strange stuff floating on top of the report document on Joe's death. Iris immediately heads to the station.

Meanwhile, the experiment begins as the two try to pinpoint Barry's location until Cecil finds him. The amplifier breaks. Chester has no problem with this and can take an hour to construct a new one. Deon returns. Iris tells him to remove all of the "bad stuff" out of her, he does so by the snap of his fingers. The two see temporal isotopes, but they're decaying rather than growing. Deon realizes that someone has tampered with the Negative Still Force to rewrite the timeline. Chester checks on the phone informing the Team that someone has turned on the particle accelerator. Oh god, NOT AGAIN.

Despero absorbs all of the power from it. The second experiment begins. Despero appears behind the two. Dillion creates vertigo confronting Despero with him cursing Dillion's mind to the point of bleeding to death. Holy sssssshhhhhh. Despero looks inside Cecile's mind with her fighting it unleashing her powers on Despero making him disappear. Chester's phone detects Barry, so does Despero. Barry lashes at Black Lightning for not helping him. The two have an epic stand-off. The stand-off concludes as he finally understands the potential dangers, grabbing a hand out for Barry, and then the two make a major mess.

The two have a brief discussion until Despero comes and ruins the discussion. Deon and Iris come through some kind of portal. Black Lightning clashes with Despero holding off the other three. Deon unleashes his Still Force to Barry sending him to 2031. Despero uses his teleport device, too. Barry stumbles upon some party until everybody stares at him. Thrawn is there, too!

Thoughts?

This was great. Despero still continues to be a compelling villain. It was nice to see more interaction between Barry and Black Lightning relating to each other about loss and their experience. Of course, Barry's character has devolved in some aspects, loved that he lost an argument against Black Lightning and their music taste which was pretty funny.

The plotline wasn't that bad, and it was pretty easy to follow plus intriguing. All of the characters actually did something for once, but Dillion. Oh my god, I just can't with her. Blondes, blondes EVERYWHERE with degenerate personalities. Besides the small rant, the pacing was good, a stronger build-up, did a good job showcasing the five stages of grief.

With the side characters. Iris wasn't annoying for once. Allegra is eh. Nobody can find her relatable, but at least she isn't annoying anymore. Chester almost did nothing, but the episode was focusing on other characters. This can be said the same as Caitlyn.

8/10.

The Flash provides us with another great episode
theyokester30 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The Flash continues to surpass my expectations. The beginning of this episode was on the slower side, but definitely had some good side story with it. On a side note, I gotta hand it to Danielle Nicolet, her acting was phenomenal in this episode! The fight between Jefferson and Flash was super cool to watch, with some great acting from Grant Gustin. Now the ending.... OMG!! I was not expecting that at all! This season has really hit us with the plot twists for sure. Once again Eobard Thawne continues to prove he is always one step ahead of Barry. Another 10/10 from me.

How is this only an 8.1?!
b_yocum3 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There is no reason this episode is rated as low as an 8.1. There were less eventful episodes in season 1 and 2 that got rated way higher. Yes the beginning was on the slow side, but the last 10 minutes alone should have made this episode no less than an 8.6. It's a shame people hate on this show simply because it's a trend. That being said I'm going to be rating this episode and 8.7-8.8. The acting I thought was great, especially from Grant and Danielle Nicolet. The fight between Flash and Black Lightning was awesome, and that ending could not have been a bigger cliffhanger.

Last 10 Minutes made this one!
chancelormayfield1 December 2021
I was going to rate this episode a 7/10 because i found it to be boring and just lackluster, but HOLY COW. The last 10 minutes absolutely saved this episode!! Those last 10 was the best flash content we have had in this show in YEARS! Great action, great acting, and a shocking twist!! I haven't been this excited to see the next episode in so long. If this show continues on this level after the 5 episode event is over, than THE FLASH IS BACK BABY!

8.5/10 or an 8.6/10 really
prometheus198701 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode began a bit slow mainly because of cecile. Her emotional reaction to Iris when iris wanted to investigate Joe's death was TOO much. I understand that it must be traumatizing and even more worse to be an empathy in this situation if you consider the fictional logic. But it's very irritating to see her crapping about her emotions on and on. I don't like cecile as a character in this show, so hence I might find her irritating, but those of you who have a positive or neutral view of her may not.

Anyway now to the good stuff... Barry initiated the injustice protocols(pretty cool) with black lightning. So Jefferson needs to take away Barry's powers as per the protocol. Most of Barry's speed are taken away. Meanwhile iris and allegra investigate joes death and iris takes Deon's help. They find out that Joe died due to some timeline changes. Cecile locates Barry in the Hall of justice and iris and deon arrive there. At the same time a Flash vs Black lightning brawl takes place which was epic. Despero also arrives and tries to kill Barry but Jefferson slows him down to make sure Barry runs into the future to see who really causes Armageddon when iris tells him about Joe.

And now the ending...... Those 3 minutes really shot these episodes rating from a 7 to an 8.5 for me. Barry finds thawne in 2031 at a party with a "twist" .Probably the biggest twist I have ever seen...... I won't spoil that, but despite most of this episode being on a bit of a mediocre side, I still have good expectations for the next episode because of that ending. Hopefully the next episode won't have the mediocre elements(like cecile)of this episode.

This was the Black Lightning we Should've Gotten During his Final Season! Where was the CW Hiding THIS Guy?
demigodshmurda30 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, look. This episode wasn't without its faults. There was some lazy writing and retcons from what I saw, but it was much better than last week. Also, get over the "nobody's aged a day in 10 years" thing. That's one of the things you just have to accept while watching tv shows.

It's also worth noting that I FINALLY got Flash Trope Bingo this week! Looks like the writers have fallen back on a lot of the Flash's tropes like "That's Not How The Speed Force Works!" and "Iris is Secretly the Main Character". However, I thoroughly enjoyed crossing off "Barry Loses an Argument" this week since it was during the best scene this show's had in years! I'll talk in depth about it later.

Throughout the episode we get to see a lot of Cecile handling her grief over Joe's death. And I'm sorry, but I just don't care. Cecile should've stayed a background character like she was during season 4, because she's just not compelling to follow. I appreciated the scene of her and Caitlin talking about Ronnie, but I've never bought the relationship between Cecile and Top. It just kinda seemed tacked on and out of place in the grand scheme of the season. The scenes were acted fine, but did we really need an entire major plotline dedicated to Cecile in the middle of a five episode crossover? The entire plotline could've been cut out by just tracking Barry's comms or checking the cameras at the Hall of Justice, which they clearly have access to as shown by last episode where the team accessed the STAR Labs satellites, or at least Barry's comms, from Chester's garage!

Also, last episode Despero knocked Cecile unconscious with a dirty look, but in this episode she can overpower him for no reason? Whatever.

Oh yeah, and let's not forget that Rosalind Dillon becomes half of Cecile's support system during this episode, so everyone make sure to cross "Forgiving Known Murderers" off your Flash Frustration Bingo Cards.

The Iris storyline about her searching for her dad's killer felt natural, and I actually found myself siding with IRIS of all characters in an argument against Cecile at the top of the episode. Yeah, that really happened. IRIS came off as a more rational human being during an argument, and I'm just as shocked as you are. It's not enough to save the character by any means, but if the writers are trying to make her a more tolerable character, maybe this is a nice first step.

I didn't even hate the stuff about Iris's "time sickness", though it did lead to one of my favorite little tidbits in the show's recent history. First off, "time sickness" isn't a thing, and the writers still have yet to explain what it is or how Iris got it. And two, Deon says that somebody tapped into the "Negative Still Force" in order to change the timeline. And... Yeah, no, the "Negative Still Force" isn't a thing. If memory serves, Thawne CREATED the Negative Speed Force to be the opposite of the Speed Force. The writers reinforce this point during season 6's "Death of the Speed Force". So tell me... WHO CREATED THE "NEGATIVE STILL FORCE"? Deon (and maybe OG Wells) is the only person that we know who's been chosen as a conduit of the Still Force. So unless there's another character that we've never met that created the Negative Still Force, who created it? I'm sure that when the writers figure that out, they'll let us know.

As for the best part of this episode, Barry Allen and Jefferson Pierce. For starters, I loved all the nods to Black Lightning's style of filming. There were a lot of shots taken at an angle, which was commonplace during Black Lightning's final two seasons, and I ate it up! Maybe it's because I miss when Black Lightning used to be good, but the crew pretty clearly watched Black Lightning and took notes. When Barry and Jeff had their fight, it was a perfect mix of modern CW Flash and Black Lightning's styles! I got a real kick out of it!

And it wasn't just the way the episode was shot, but it was the writing as well! This is the Jefferson Pierce that the final season of his show was missing! Where was the CW hiding *this* guy? I missed seeing Jefferson Pierce inspire hope and teach people. Plus, that moment where Jeff said "Where's the future?" and Barry responds with "Right here", and then they went through Jeff's entire mantra was my favorite moment of this show since season 6's "The Last Temptation of Barry Allen, Pt. 1". Maybe this means that Barry's finally making some headway as a character? Doubtful, but the scene was great regardless.

Also, the Flash writers respected Jefferson Pierce more than the Black Lightning writers did, and more than the Flash writers respect Barry Allen. Just let that sink in for a moment.

I do however have an issue with the way that Barry's powers are getting removed here. I understand that without Barry asking Jeff to remove his powers in this way, then the rest of the episode couldn't happen, but couldn't Barry just take the Metahuman Cure? It does canonically still exist after season seven's "The People vs Killer Frost", so it is a viable option for Barry to use it on himself. They even made a big deal about the cure being a choice as far back as "King Shark vs Gorilla Grodd", so if it's an option, why isn't it on the table? This is like Despero saying he knows the exact amount of force it take to kill Barry and then not doing it all over again! And yes, I'm still mad about that!

And then we get to the end of the episode where we get the big reveal that the one behind all of this is... Eobard Thawne. Honestly, I don't know why I didn't predict this to be the outcome from the start. I mean, Thawne is the Flash writers' favorite plot device to use to create tension. I mean... The most I can say is that this appearance certainly felt different from any his previous ones. This was a side of Eobard Thawne we haven't seen since the first season of the show, and I can't tell if that's because the writers are trying to tug at our nostalgia, or if they're legitimately trying to do something new and exciting with the character for once. I'd definitely be more intrigued to figure out which is the answer if there wasn't only TWO EPISODES LEFT OF ARMAGEDDON! This is the same problem that last season's Godspeed arc had. There just isn't enough episodes to tell the story with Reverse Flash here, and it shows! It doesn't help that we're wasting time on pointless characters like Cecile, Chester and Allegra.

Overall, this was a pretty solid episode despite the stuff with Cecile taking up more time than it needed to. I think this wasn't exactly great as part of a crossover event, but as a standalone episode it was pretty good. There's still some issues with pointless characters being forced on the audience, and also just some straight-up lazy writing, but where the writing needed to be good, it was! Jefferson Pierce was fricking gold and carried this episode pretty hard, and though I don't think there's enough time to tell Thawne's story, the reveal was still intriguing in itself. Do I think the writers can pull this thing off?... I'm skeptical.

7 / 10.

Not again
pauli_gomez1 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Oh, surprise. The big villain is Thawne. *Yawn*.

Jefferson Pierce was great, and for once Allegra did her actual job to investigate but all the rest were so out of character than no amount of grief can explain it. Cecile became irrational more times than needed for the episode. Iris changed his mind a couple of times with no real good reasons for that. Everybody did a lot of complicated, elaborated schemes to find Barry who was in the Hall, a building who he owns. And they did not even think on search for him there, not even after Cait saw him with Jefferson Pierce. Oh, by the way, she disclosed the name Jefferson Pierce for Black Lightning in front of an ex-con meta. Despero decided to prevent Barry for doing something that would actually was good for his plan, like losing his powers. And the end...the guests to the event where totally random and, yes, it was Thawne all along, again.

Besides all that, I still don't know why Team Flash decided it was all right to believe Despero as if the future he mentioned was the only one possible, when they know very well that there was at least one future where XS and Impulse (and their parents) are alive and well way beyond 2031.

Good but...
antcharats7 December 2021
Finally this season is a little bit more serious. The flash got a few extra pounds though. I personally prefer him with the skinnier version. Definately he plays his role better. But the script...not the best. So flash wasnt him self lately and hurt a few people which very important because flash suppose to protect people. Why we dont see him talking with the people and the families that he hurt and apologize to them? This is what a hero should do. And they need to saw us that.

Last ten minutes were what?????
terrylarosa1 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Much ado about nothing again. These childish fans keep duping me since I watch the episodes late and read the ridiculous fawning reviews. Nothing happened. Thawne ( groan ) again with some nefarious overacting plot. Nobody's aged a day in ten years?? Black Lightning barely registered a pulse. Just a boring character. Only thing of note was the actress playing Cecille got to act and looks mighty good; especially for her age. Speaking of acting Despero comes just short of twirling his mustache. At least the cartoonishness is still missing. Except for the gushing fans.

It's getting better.. but it's still the Flash..
lifeatedge1 December 2021
Listen, i love the flash. So much. It's a comfort show... truly. But the dialogue is embarrassing.. has been for the last couple seasons. The only reason these episodes are better than last season is because they have a story that works and the CGI has been upgraded because of the ending of supergirl. But the dialogue and writing are still ew.. watchable.. but could be SOOO MUCH BETTER! The show is good but nothing compared to shows people actually take the time to write real enjoyable stuff. Also, the cinematography is so basic and I feel like it makes the Flash seem way less professional. First season was amazing.. just actually amazing.. second season good.. but it just goes downhill from there. This season has so much potential. I hope they can correct some things and make these last season worth it to watch.

Part 3 - THINGS ARE HEATING UP!
lukewharris-1333530 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Ok so this season has been off to a great start, but this episode just blew me away! The Injustice Protocol scenes??!?! WHAT WAS I EVEN WATCHING bro. Last season was so bad compared to this but by some insane chance the writers have improved heaps!

Iris wasn't too annoying this episode, really intrigued to see where here time sickness storyline will go from here! At least we know now why she was on the poster for this event.

Black Lightning has got to be my MVP for this episode. THE DUDE IS SO SICK!

I think next episode will be even bigger judging by the synopsis, but so far I have been very pleased with the quality of these past 3 episodes. Maybe this is redemption for the show?

I'll give it a 9/10.

Stay Safe Flash Fans

Luke.

Great episode
ldamena1 December 2021
The first episode of Armageddon was pretty bland and awful to me but I get to admit the last two have definitely picked up the pace and packed a punch! This ep kept me on the edge of my seat. Loved seeing Jefferson kinda be that mentor to Barry, that Oliver was. All and all loved seeing Black Lightning and The Flash working side by side. Awesome episode for Iris too. Loved seeing her as more than just Barry's wife and enabler. And that ending? Man was that crazy! Can't wait for next week. Won't expect much from S8 but it is starting on a strong note.

A good episode but the ending though
hakshay-874002 December 2021
I loved this episode. It started off with a bang continuing from the previous episodes. I especially loved the "injustice". No one would have guessed the meaning of it. The episode as a whole kept me at the edge of my seat. But unfortunately I cannot see the whole series of events of armageddon is all to cause an event as meh as the end of the episode. To understand what I said watch the episode yourself.

Decent Episode, Decent Season So Far
Anonnamus11 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Not quite as intriguing as the last episode, but still a solid one overall. Barry continues to act impulsively and throw temper tantrums like a toddler but the real bright spot in this was the appearance of Jefferson Pierce. I have never watched Black Lightning but I think I will start. Pierce seems like a smart, level-headed hero, something that is in short supply on The Flash. Rosa Dillon has come a long way since the throwaway average villain she always seemed to be in the past, and I hope that she makes an appearance again in the future.

Say what you will about Iris (I have hated her since like season 2), but her tenacity and constant nosiness and busybody personality really paid off this time, even to the dismay of Cecile, whose shriekiness and severe anger was really quite startling. Chester is again able to just whip up any tech the team needs just by digging through trash cans. He really is very resourceful, give him two weeks and a box of tampons and he could probably rebuild Star Labs from the ground up.

The villain got power hungry and decided to act like every other villain and say he's saving mankind and is willing to kill everyone who stands in his way blah blah blah, whatever. The real gem of the season is the fact that someone is rewriting reality and changing the present. Obviously it has to be Reverse Flash, but still it's something different we hadn't seen in previous seasons. The fact that he decided to make himself the new love of Iris's life was nothing short of hilarious.

I cannot wait to see where the rest of the season takes us. I really wish Barry would for once learn from his past mistakes and stop doing whatever he wants whenever he wants and whines and cries when he doesn't get his way, that kind of behavior is really unbecoming on a hero. I wish Iris would wear a name tag so Allegra would know what to call her instead of "boss" since she isn't actually a mobster lackey. I'm pretty sure Caitlin was in this episode somewhere, I think? I really hope KF and Caitlin rejoin forces, Caitlin is completely lost without her and is just human background scenery. I can't wait to see how Barry vows to take down Reverse Flash but not kill him or hurt him and motivational speech him into surrendering. Season 8 is shaping up to be better than anything we've seen since season 3!

I definitely felt the momentum picking up in this episode. It was fantastic to see Cress Williams return as Black Lightning. Williams and Grant Gustin have natural chemistry that really shows on screen. I certainly hope we'll see them interact more in the future. Barry's conflict is starting to hit home even more as we see his internal and external struggles accelerate and clash. And that cliffhanger... WOW!!!

Once again, The Flash proves itself to be one of the Greatest Shows of All Time.
THEARROWFLASH2 December 2021
The episode was absolutely perfect. The story was so incredibly well-written I'm still in shock yet again. GRANT GUSTIN'S, CRESS WILLIAM'S, DANIELLE NICOLET'S, TONY CURRAN'S & CANDICE PATTON'S performances, among all the other cast members, are ABSOLUTELY PERFECT (As always ofcourse). And the cinematography shown in this episode, as well as in the entirety of Season 8 in general, is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. This episode, just like The Flash Season 8 Episode 2: Armageddon, Part 3. Was one of the Greatest Episodes of Television literally EVER & proved to everyone why The Flash is easily one of the Greatest Shows of ALL Time.

This story is getting so damn incredible from so many angles and I swear I had goosebumps throughout the entire PERFECT 42 minute runtime of this Incredible Hour of Television. Everything was perfect & I could not be more happy with it all. The Finale of this Episode was, just like the previous episode. One of the Greatest Plot Twists of all time, and one of the Greatest Endings to Any Episode of Television EVER. Thank you so much to everyone who worked on this for making me, and millions upon millions of people across this beautiful Earth so damn happy with this masterpiece. Next week's episode is one of the most hyped up things EVER for me & I have no doubt in my mind it'll be absolutely perfect as well. And, I can't wait for next week, but until then, Thank you & Goodbye! And once again WOW that Ending was AWESOMETACULAR!
