- When a familiar foe descends upon Gotham, Batwoman and Mary find they must rely on each other more than ever; Alice has a new mission and gets an unexpected ally to join her.
- Batwoman and Mary come up with a plan to get Alice back from Safiyah. , Luke goes after Russel and meets John Diggle, who is visiting Gotham for reasons of his own. Meanwhile, Kate begins to regain her memories and turns to Roman for answers.—Gislef
- A lawyer leaves a building and gets into his car in a rooftop parking garage. Someone drives a sword repeatedly through the roof. The lawyer grabs his laptop case and gets out, and his attacker kills him. Batwoman arrives and fights the masked attacker, and the attacker knocks Batwoman back and escapes. Batwoman calls the Batcave requesting medics, but gets no response.
Luke is sitting on the balcony outside the office, and Batwoman arrives and tells her that the man is going to live. Luke finally says that he might need a little time alone, and Batwoman tells him that she's there if he needs her before rappelling off.
The next day, Dana reports from the courthouse that Russel has been released on bail. Protestors have gathered outside, and Dana praises Jacob. Roman is watching the newscast, and is furious that Jacob is being hailed as a hero. Safiyah is with Roman, and says that she wants Circe to help settle Safiyah's "affairs" in Gotham. Nathan doesn't want Circe involved, and says that Circe is to make her first public appearance His PR team has covered her imprisonment in Arkham, and shows Safiyah the new ads for his company's products that Circe is appearing in.
Safiyah learns that Roman put Alice and Kate/Circe together, and tells him that Alice and Kate are sisters.
Mary runs oversight and directs Batwoman to a government safe house. She explains that the lawyer was working with judges to place people in WITSEC, and the locations were stored on his stolen computer. After checking with Sophie, Mary traced all of the lawyer's outgoing calls to see which witnesses he reached out to. The witness Batwoman is checking out was the first one the lawyer called, but never answered.
Batwoman finds the dead witness, a sword in his chest. The assassin steps out of the shadows and the two fight. Knocking off her attacker's hood, Batwoman realizes that it's Tatiana. Tatiana ducks out the window before Batwoman can stop her.
Once Jacob and Alice have taken Circe to their base, they confirm that her DNA is match for Kate. Alice tells Circe that she killed two guards while escaping Arkham. Circe cuts free and Alice knocks her out, and she tells Jacob that they can reawaken Kate's memories with objects from her childhood. Ocean appears with Kate's childhood belongings, and introduces himself to Jacob. They explain how Enigma took Kate's memories, and how Enigma took away Alice's ability to love. As Ocean leaves, he and Alice kiss.
Ryan returns to the Batcave, and Mary confirms that the dead man at the safe house was Ezra Castellanos, who Circe gouged out eyes five years ago. Using Luke's hacking technology, Mary has learned that Circe claimed Ezra assaulted her at a party and gouged his eyes out with a spoon, and afterward she went to Arkham. Castellanos was afraid the Sionis family would come after him and went into WITSEC. Using Luke's hacker technology, Ryan and Mary find where Luke is so they can check on him.
Luke goes to a bar where Russel is, and joins him at the bar. Russel says that law figures Luke is still car thief, and Luke takes the drink Russel has bought him and challenges to a game of hold 'em. As Russel agrees and walks off, John Ramsey joins Luke at the bar and hopes Luke has a plan. Diggle says that some of them are just there to play cards, and goes to join Russel at the poker table.
At the now-abandoned Crows base, Jacob and Alice show Circe Kate's belongings, and she says that she doesn't want to go back to Kate, and a father who abandoned her evil twin. Alice shows Circe a mug and says that Kate wanted her to know that she was gay.
Circe has memories of being locked in Cartwright's room, and Alice figures that it's a metaphor. She tells Jacob that the cell is Circe's subconscious, and all she ever wanted is to be free. Alice takes Circe's hand, and Beth tells Kate through the door to the cell that she's not going to lose her again. Circe remembers that Beth found her but she couldn't find her, and Alice tells her that there's still time.
Ryan tracks Luke, who tell her that he's playing Russell. He figures that Ryan and Mary can handle Safiyah, and he didn't want to wake up. Luke figures that there's another bullet coming eventually, and there's no reason for him to go through it again.
Jacob calls Mary and tells her that Kate is alive, and Mary should give them time. He explains that Kate thinks she's Circe, and Mary warns Jacob that Circe is connected to Safiyah. Black Mask's gangers and Tatiana and knock out Jacob. Alice releases Circe and tells her to run, and the attackers break in and knock down Alice. Tatiana holds a sword to Alice's neck.
Batwoman drives to the Crows base as Mary tells her what she learned from Jacob. When Mary says that they need to tell Luke that Kate is alive, Batwoman advises her that they shouldn't add to Luke's pain. As Batwoman pulls up to the base, Circe runs out and tells Batwoman that she doesn't know who she is.
Luke goes back into the bar and plays hold 'em against Russell and Diggle. Diggle folds, and Luke raises Russell. Russell goes all in, but can't match Luke's bet. He borrows money from his buddies watching the game, and Diggle tells Russell that he's in town on a contract for ARGUS. Russel says that Gotham is the Crows town and the house always win. He reveals a pair, and Luke says that Russel is cheating and still manages to beat his pair with a straight.
As Luke collects his money, he tells Russel that running from a fight has gotten him nowhere. He leaves, as Russel glares at him.
The gangers take Jacob to Roman, who says that Gotham is about to find out that Beth Kane is Alice. Jacob threatens to go to the GCPD, and Roman has his men reveal that they're police detectives. They put Jacob under arrest for aiding and abetting Alice.
Luke walks away from the bar, and Russel comes out and asks if it's what Luke really wants. He punches Luke, and Luke removes his glasses and hits him back. the two men fight and Russel starts beating Luke. Diggle arrives and tells Russel that it's enough. When Russell says that Luke didn't show him respect, Diggle punches him and points out that Russel shot Luke the other day.
Ryan removes her mask and goes with Circe to the office. Mary hugs Circe, who has no idea who Mary is. Mary backs off, and Circe gets her a drink. Ryan tells Mary that False Face gangers and Tatiana raided the base according to Circe.
Sophie comes in and Ryan tells her that there's a lot "Kate" doesn't remember. Kate remembers Sophie and hugs her. Kate then asks where her father is, and she has more memories of her mental block. She remembers Kate entering the cell, and Circe with daggers coming at her with knives. In the real world, Kate shoves Mary down. The others hold Kate back while Mary injects Kate with a sedative.
Mary tells Ryan and Sophie that Kate and Circe are fighting it out in Kate's mind. Ryan figures that they can convince Safiyah to go back by offering her the Desert Rose to rebuild her empire. She admits that they don't have anything else to bargain with, and they should approach Luke so he can help them find Safiyah.
After Russel leaves, Diggle tells Luke that he lost his father young, and explains that his father died when Diggle was a boy. Diggle tells Luke that they all end up in the same place, and what matters is what Luke can tell Lucius he did in the world when he finally meets him. The older man tells Luke that he should use his anger, then wavers and says that he's having fogginess. Diggle says that he's in Gotham to visit the Gotham Hospital neurology department.
The Bat Signal overhead flickers in Morse code, and Luke realizes it's a message to him calling him to the Batcave. He says that he should go, and Diggle wishes him luck.
Alice is watching a newscast about Jacob's arrest, and how it's been revealed that he's Alice's father. On the newscast, Jacob admits that Alice is his daughter, , but she's a victim rather than a monster. He admits that he didn't continue his search for her, and Gotham should remember Beth rather than Alice. As Alice smiles, Tatiana brings Safiyah to Alice, and Safiyah tells Alice that she owes her an island.
When Luke returns, he, Mary and Ryan go to the Batcave and Mary treats his injuries from Russel's beating. They tell him they need Luke to find out where Alice is, and save her. Luke wonders what they're not telling him, and Mary tells him that Kate is still alive.
Safiyah tells Alice that there's nothing left of Coryana, and she only expected Alice to throw a tantrum. Batwoman arrives with the Rose and offers it to Safiyah, saying that the plant was her last connection to her adopted mother. Batwoman says that Alice has the key to getting Kate's memories, and Safiyah wonders Batwoman gets. Batwoman says that Kate is a symbol, and she owes a debt to Kate. Safiyah tells Batwoman that Batwoman would make Kate proud, and accepts Batwoman's offer.
Alice mockingly thanks Safiyah and says that she'll send Ocean Safiyah's regard. As she goes, she tells Safiyah that she has her boyfriend and her sister, while Safiyah only has a flower. Safiyah tells Alice that Alice believe she's deserved more than she's earned. Alice realize that Tatiana is gone, and Safiyah tells Alice that she can' be worthy of having it all. Furious, Alice leaves with Batwoman.
Kate wakes up, and Sophie is with her. Sophie tells Kate that Mary is fine, and Kate looks at herself in the mirror and wonders who she is. In Kate's mind, Kate tells Young Kate that they're going to have to do things the messy way. In the real world, Kate asks Sophie to get a bottle of vodka she had hidden away. Sophie goes to get it,
As they go out, Alice calls Ocean but she gets no answer. Batwoman tells Alice to get in the Batmobile, but Alice walks off figuring Batwoman won't hurt her. Alice goes to Ocean's subway hideout, finds Tatiana, and kills her. Going into the subway train, Alice finds Ocean dead and breaks into tears as she holds his body.
From jail, Jacob calls Mary and tells her that he's safe because the judge granted his petition for a change of venue. He's being transferred to Metropolis, and tells Mary that they won't be able to beat the charges with Roman pulling the strings. Jacob tells Mary that seeing Kate and Beth gave him hope, and he figures that if Circe and Alice go away, they can get Kate back. He hopes that Mary will save both of his daughters, and they both say that they love the other.
Ryan goes to bar with Luke, and tells him that he knows he wants to save Kate. She tells him that she's not sorry she made Luke leave using the Rose, and tells him that he's not leaving her. Luke smiles and hugs her. Sophie comes in says that Kate is gone.
Kate goes to Roman and asks him if she's Kate. Roman says that she isn't, and Kate asks why she has Kate's memories and fingerprints. She stabs Roman in the hand, and Safiyah comes in and tells roman to tell Kate the truth since she has the right to be who she wants to be.
