Lie With Me is like those cheap made for television thrillers that Channel 5 puts on after Neighbours.
This is a four part thriller set in Australia. However it looks cheap either because the budget disappeared as the crew landed in Australia and Covid restrictions. There seems to be a very small cast.
Charlie Brooks who once shoved her husband off a cliff in Eastenders plays Anna Fallmont. She has given birth to her second child. She and her Australian husband Jake have moved to Melbourne from England.
It is a fresh start for them as a family. There are hints of his infidelity back in the UK. Anna has also suffered from depression but she feels it is time to kickstart a career after giving birth.
They have hired a young live in nanny Becky. She witnesses Anna and Jake immediately having arguments. At one point some pills are smashed through a window.
Anna suspects that Jake is carrying on with his secretary. She follows him with a driver. They both see Jake being rather close with his secretary but he has a plausible story to cover it.
Anna takes advice from Becky, even though Anna knows little about her and it is debatable whether she even got references.
Thye episode opens with Anna jogging and she spots a snake slithering across the road. A metaphor for the slimy people surrounding her.
The conclusion of the first episode reveals someone's game plan. It is ridiculous one which is all about getting custody of the children, as well as a young sexy partner who is willing to raise someone else's kids.
