A dark, intriguing conclusion.

Who killed Elizabeth Nightingale? It's been the question running through this clever, intriguing three part mystery series. We learn the identity of the killer, and the motive they had for her death.

You have to applaud the writing of Ruth Rendell, this book was written many years back, I can imagine it would have been intensely shocking upon its release, many years later, it still goes to some very dark places, dealing with a taboo subject, one that isn't often brought up, it's very twisted. Rendell always was such a progressive writer.

Not many laughs here, it's quite a staid affair, the one scene that did make me chuckle, was the one where Mike is casually building an extension onto his house using hand tools.

Very well acted by the whole cast, from the very off, I found Nigel Terry very impressive, what a talented man he is.

Overall, this was a very good, revealing conclusion. 8/10.
