Jared Scott Mercier thought he could shoot Madison Hall in 17 days. By day 3 he realized how wrong he was and had to completely reinvent the schedule, which ended up clocking in at 38 days.
Madison Hall is based on real events that took place at Arizona State University from the Fall of 2002 to the Spring of 2003. The actual dorm, Sahuaro, was demolished in 2007.
Director Jared Scott Mercier and actor 'Colin Chan Redemer' where actually arrested for going in the tunnels underneath ASU along with one of their friends on April 24th, 2003. Their friend wore the same model air filter seen in the film.
Almost 70% of Madison Hall is ADR. (dialog recorded in post production)
Jared Scott Mercier started writing the script in 2004. Pre-production started in November of 2005. Shooting started in September of 2006 and wrapped in December of 2006. There were 8 days of re-shoots in April and May of 2007 and the edit was finally locked in February of 2008. It then took 14 months to complete all the sound work, with the project being completed on April 9th, 2009.
