What happened to this great show? I remember sitting there staring at the credits with tears in my eyes.
But this is nothing like the series I once started watching! Of course La casa de papel never wanted to be a super realistic show. But it had one thing that always caught me: Interesting, unique and believable characters. But they all seem gone although they aren't! You can easily exchange everyone with another, cause they are just lame figures making random decisions to fulfill pointless objectives, just to stretch the plot. And this happens since the beginning of season 4!
Another thing that makes me sad over and over again: Nothing REALLY happens. Let me explain this. A lot of serious events just vanish like they never happened. Where is the impact of all of this? Military, a dangerous dude playing real life call of duty, Arturo screaming and doing annoying stuff again, and (last but not least) a grenade exploding in an elevator (S4) but in the end it all leads to: Correct - nothing. Nothing happens. Since the beginning of S4 this show is just a small circle repeating everything over and over again. Arturo burning Denver was the best joke in this episode. He provocates him till he starts shooting, then a little flamethrower action and again: A pointless event that happened one million times before just because the showrunners don't want to get deeper into these once beautiful characters. And they just seem not brave enough to let consequences really happen.
A prediction for episode 3 without having it watched yet: Arturo doesn't die, he just gets a doctor (to stretch the plot) and then apologizes just to do some Arturo-stuff again...
I think the best way would have been if they ended the series after season 2. The ending was nearly perfect. Season three was okay, especially the ending had one of the most emotional scenes in my opinion. But everything that came after this... You know what I want to say.
The worst thing is, that it still keeps me hooked enough that I can't stop watching it. The acting is still good and the production level also made a step up. So I still rate this 3/10. Maybe even because I'm still hoping for a positive turn - a surprise, anything new, as in the good old days of this once phenomenal show.
