- Arlo Glass: [during an emergency briefing with Brian Hastings, Dana Walsh, and Cole Ortiz] Who's Jack Bauer?
- Victor Aruz: [Showing up at his apartment unannounced] what are you doing here? How the hell did you find me?
- Victor Aruz: I was always "resourceful", that's what you liked about me
- Jack Bauer: Get in here: take a seat. What happened?
- Victor Aruz: I need your help
- Jack Bauer: You need an ambulance
- Victor Aruz: No, don't call. That's what his waiting for: his listening to the emergency channels
- Jack Bauer: Who?
- Victor Aruz: Just listen to me, I have information
- Jack Bauer: The best I can do for is get you an ambulance, I'm out: I don't work for the government anymore
- Victor Aruz: Oh, this you want to hear
- Jack Bauer: Why?
- Victor Aruz: Why? Because you're the guy who always does the "right thing." There's a big hit going down
- Jack Bauer: On who?
- Victor Aruz: President Hassan at the UN: his getting "taken out"
- Jack Bauer: When?
- Victor Aruz: Today, before he can sign this "thing" with Taylor
- Victor Aruz: [after Jack doesn't say anything] you see? I told you'd be interested
- Jack Bauer: How do you know this?
- Jack Bauer: I got the hitter into the country and set him up with what he needs
- Jack Bauer: And he tried to take you out?
- Victor Aruz: You're the only one at CTU I did "business" with. I need you to call them: vouch for me, so I can cut a deal
- Jack Bauer: [after Victor tries to stand up] take a seat
- Victor Aruz: Look, I swear this is real. "Someone" is trying to make sure this peace agreement does not happen
- Jack Bauer: I'm not doing anything until you give me your weapon
- Jack Bauer: [Over the phone] I'm with an informant that I used to "run" who's "claimed" his got intel on an assassination attempt on President Hassan: he says it's going to take place today
- Brian Hastings: We've received several threats in regards to the peace conference
- Jack Bauer: I can only imagine. My informant's name is Victor Aruz, I used him in the Salazar Op: you should be able to his file. His been shot in the arm, his "claims" by the assassin. Look, I don't think this something you should take "lightly"
- Brian Hastings: And what does Mr. Aruz want in return for his information?
- Jack Bauer: CTU protection and immunity
- Brian Hastings: It's a lot to ask
- Jack Bauer: Have you pulled his file yet?
- Brian Hastings: No
- Jack Bauer: I know this son of a bitch and my "instinct" is telling me that you need to pay attention to this
- Brian Hastings: I need more than your "instinct." CTU isn't the "organization" you "knew"
- Jack Bauer: Ok fine, understand this: if anything happens to President Hassan, I will be obligated to call President Taylor and tell her I "tried" to provide you with this intel and you ignored it
- Chloe O'Brian: [Handing him a folder after entering his office] Aruz's file it was in a proprietary database: that's why it took so long
- Brian Hastings: Still, it shouldn't have "thrown" you, you've been here a month
- Chloe O'Brian: Almost a month and I've had to relearn the interface on every major system here, everything's changed
- Brian Hastings: You're having trouble adapting, I understand but I don't think it's a question of your intelligence
- Chloe O'Brian: Thanks
- Brian Hastings: I think it's "ambivalence"
- Chloe O'Brian: [Confused] ambivalence?
- Brian Hastings: I know the only reason you took this job because your husband was "downsized." Am I wrong?
- Chloe O'Brian: No, I mean yes. Please just give me a little more time to "get up to speed" here... I need this job
- Brian Hastings: Fair enough but I'm all about "efficiency" so if your performance doesn't improve, you may want to rethink working here. I "trust" this has been clarified?"
- Chloe O'Brian: Sure. If you really want it to be more "efficient", why don't you just say "if you don't catch up soon, you're going to be fired?"
- Stephen: [after overhearing her phone conversation with her father, referring to Jack and Teri visiting the zoo] sounds like they had fun
- Kim Bauer: They always do
- Stephen: What's wrong?
- Kim Bauer: We talked to him about moving to LA when we got here
- Stephen: And he said he'd think about it
- Kim Bauer: Yeah and he hasn't mentioned one word about it since and we leave tonight
- Stephen: Well, maybe he has to check with his doctors?
- Kim Bauer: No, they cleared him two weeks ago: his finished with treatment. I don't know... my father's been on he's own for so long. Maybe he doesn't know how to "live" any other way?
- Stephen: Why don't you just ask him again?
- Kim Bauer: My father's not the type of person "you" ask twice
- Stephen: If you want, I can do it
- President Allison Taylor: I believe that is a "reasonable compromise", Mr. President, let's move on to the issue of verification. The "language" in your latest proposal is vague
- President Omar Hassan: Let me clear: my country agrees to abandon its pursuit of nuclear weapon with full International Atomic Energy Agency safeguards
- President Allison Taylor: But our terms Mr. President, was that the inspectors themselves would be American, not IAEA
- Farhad Hassan: With respect madam President, your side pushed the point which we never conceded
- Ethan Kanin: With respect, "your side" refused to negotiate the point in "good faith." Without Americans on the ground...
- Farhad Hassan: [Interrupts him] surely, we're not going to let the nationality of a few hundred Americans...
- Ethan Kanin: [Interrupts him] verification has no "team"
- Farhad Hassan: So only the United States can be "trusted" Mr. Secretary? This is the message that you send to the rest of the world and then you wonder why we don't want to negotiate...
- President Omar Hassan: [Interrupts him] Farhad...
- President Omar Hassan: Madam President, please excuse my brother's passion: he only wants what's best for our country
- President Allison Taylor: I understand but we need to resolve this issue before we can move forward and "ideally" before the press conference, which gives us less than an hour
- President Omar Hassan: Madam President, what would your Congress say if my Revolutionary Guard was stationed on your soil?
- Farhad Hassan: I just talked to Secretary of State Kanin, his agreed to IAA inspectors
- President Omar Hassan: That's good news
- Farhad Hassan: There is a "condition" attached: their insisting the head of the verification team be an American
- President Omar Hassan: I think we can deliver that. Don't you?
- Farhad Hassan: You know where I stand: we've already surrendered too much in the name of peace
- President Omar Hassan: "Surrender" is a hard word, and what have we surrendered? Really? Apart from our nuclear ambition?
- Farhad Hassan: Isn't that enough?
- President Omar Hassan: Spinning six thousand centrifuges is good for "political maneuvering" but it's helping to bankrupt our country. The truth is: we are not the ones being so generous. President Taylor is lifting economic sanctions and offering an aid package worth billions of dollars, we've got everything we want from her
- Farhad Hassan: As long as it's not a trick
- President Omar Hassan: Reinstate Ms. Reed's clearance
- Farhad Hassan: I was only...
- President Omar Hassan: [Interrupts him] just do it
- Farhad Hassan: People are starting to talk about you and this "reporter"
- President Omar Hassan: And saying what? Ms. Reed is a journalist and she's profiling me for a newspaper
- Farhad Hassan: But you have "feelings" for her
- President Omar Hassan: I'm "friendly" with her: think whatever you like, this woman poses no threat to me or the peace process
- Farhad Hassan: Not here maybe but back in our country, you'd be torn apart, and many others will say you have been "corrupted" by the west
- President Omar Hassan: What do you say? Have I? Have I been "corrupted" by the west?
- Farhad Hassan: You know I don't believe that but you are married
- President Omar Hassan: Dalia hasn't been a wife to me for a long time
- Farhad Hassan: That's no excuse to be reckless
- President Omar Hassan: I've done nothing reckless, just reinstate Ms. Reed's clearance now
- Ethan Kanin: President Hassan "accepted" our counter proposals on inspections
- President Allison Taylor: That is great news
- Ethan Kanin: [after seeing her not as excited as he thought she should be] is something wrong?
- President Allison Taylor: I was thinking about Henry: achieving a comprehensive peace agreement with the Islamic Republic was something he and I talked about years ago. I wish he was here to share the moment
- President Allison Taylor: [When Ethan doesn't respond] you're surprised?
- Ethan Kanin: Considering his behavior during the divorce, yes I am surprised: he went out of his way to hurt you, especially in the press
- President Allison Taylor: He was angry, I sent our daughter to prison
- Ethan Kanin: You refused to cover up a murder. Olivia was responsible for what happened: no one else
- President Allison Taylor: Still, if the situation had been reversed, I "might've" felt the same as Henry
- Rob Weiss: [after entering the room] I'm sorry if I'm interrupting but I just talked to Brian Hastings at CTU
- Ethan Kanin: What's going on Rob?
- Rob Weiss: They have someone who has information about an assassination plot on Hassan
- President Allison Taylor: How "real" is the threat?
- Rob Weiss: "Real" enough to "loop" you in: this informant came through Jack Bauer
- President Allison Taylor: I thought Jack was out of all of this. How did he get involved?
- Rob Weiss: As far as I can tell, this informant came to him: we'll know more once the informant signs an immunity deal provided you authorize it
- Ethan Kanin: How secure is the venue for the press conference?
- Rob Weiss: Very and I just raised the alert level but we need to set up a call to inform Hassan about the threat "ideally" before the press conference gets started
- Ethan Kanin: We can't tell Hassan, certainly not before the press conference
- Rob Weiss: Why not?
- Ethan Kanin: Well, he might "scuttle" everything, out of concern for his own safety
- Rob Weiss: Hassan is a big boy, his used to taking risks or he wouldn't be here, you know that. Plus. if Hassan finds out we knew about this and didn't tell him, all the trust we built up over the last year goes out the window and then he'll pull out of talks and frankly, I wouldn't blame him
- President Allison Taylor: I'll think about it: thank you both
- Kayla Hassan: It's time to go
- Dalia Hassan: [while fixing her makeup] tell your father I'll be right there
- Kayla Hassan: I'll wait until you're done
- Dalia Hassan: He doesn't trust me to be on time
- Kayla Hassan: Of course he trusts you
- Dalia Hassan: When did you become such a good liar? You don't have to defend your father: he can take care of himself
