“House of the Dragon” showrunner Ryan Condal recently acknowledged that he’d heard the complaints: The Season 1 cinematography was too dark and he promised to make adjustments in Season 2.
“We went into Season 2 very conscious of that feedback,” Condal told The Hollywood Reporter. “Season 2 is much more in line with my particular aesthetic and what I think the show should look like. It’s not a massive difference, but I don’t anticipate getting the ‘it’s too dark’ note again.”
After watching the first four episodes of Season 2, IndieWire can confirm there have been significant adjustments made both to the lighting and color grade. Fans who complained can take comfort that they have most definitely been heard. The adjustments should move the series out of the danger zone of being “too dark” for poorly calibrated televisions and the cruel variance of compression (although is any non-daylight contrast ever “streaming safe”?). However,...

Matt Smith and Emma D’Arcy play the roles of Daemon Targaryen and Rhaenyra Targaryen in the Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon. While the two have great on-screen chemistry, the love and respect they have for one another in real life is what wins our hearts.

Recently, Matt Smith had social media going all “aww” with his sensible yet adorable act of defending Emma D’Arcy when an interviewer unknowingly misgendered them in front of the actor. The best part is, that Matt Smith was not rude or snobby about the interviewer using the wrong pronouns for his friend. Instead, he decided to take a more subtle route to correct her.

Netflix has said it will clock more than 30 Spanish-language projects across film, series, and non-fiction documentaries by the year’s end. The news was unveiled by Verónica Fernández, Director of Series for Spain and Portugal at an event to mark the expansion of the streamer’s production hub in Tres Cantos, Madrid.
Netflix has been available in Spain since 2015. The streamer’s Tres Cantos campus opened in 2019 and has since doubled its stage capacity and now features ten sets and a multi-purpose space that includes the company’s first in-house post-production facility.
Fernández said the new facilities “guarantee” that creatives in Spain will have the “means to continue to tell their stories.”
“No one thought we would have so much ongoing production and Spanish content,” she said at a Q&a session during the opening event. “We are 500 million Spanish speakers, but this content has gone beyond.”

Although the 80-page giants generally have been pretty good, especially the wave of books we had celebrating various character anniversaries, DC of late have struggled a little with the anthology books. I should say it’s not just DC, but as once upon a time they were the masters of the format it is most noticeable with them. The mix of creative teams isn’t the issue either. A blend of known names and up-and-comers was always the way DC’s mystery books operated, and it served them very well. What drew me to this book the most was Paul Levitz writing Phantom Stranger (that alone is worth the entrance price), and Tom Mandrake and Kelley Jones illustrating two tales. Let’s hope the other stories can add some scary fun as well.
The know the score with these books,...

Legal drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” is living up to its name following its international success on Netflix.
Domestic Korean audiences for the series have spiked, in line with its streaming growth.
The drama stars Park Eun Bin as a young female lawyer with Asperger’s syndrome who, thanks to her powerhouse 164 Iq, exceptional memory and creative thinking processes, graduates top of her class. When she joins a major law firm, she uses her particular skills to deliver results that others would not be able to achieve. But she still struggles with social interactions.
Already the top non-English-language series globally on Netflix for the past two weeks, the show claimed a 13.1 share of the Korean TV audience last Thursday, halfway through its 16-episode run. That was a nationwide audience of 3.4 million viewers, according to data from Nielsen Korea, cited by Content Asia. The season’s production budget is reported to be...

Ahead of its much-anticipated Q2 Earnings reveal, Netflix debuted its Top 10 ranking for the week of July 11 to 17, with “Stranger Things 4” leading the pack. “Resident Evil” — based on the popular horror video game of the same name — snagged the No. 2 spot upon its premiere July 14. Also on the list and occupying spots 7 through 9, respectively, are “The Umbrella Academy” Season 3 (which released June 22), “Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight” (which premiered July 14) and “Boo Bitch,” the limited series starring Lana Condor that debuted July 8.
In its eighth week, “Stranger Things 4” pulled in an additional 102.33 million hours viewed, making it the most viewed title of the week. In total, the zeitgeisty series has amassed 1.31 billion hours viewed on the Most Popular list. Previous seasons of the show made it onto this week’s Top 10 as well, occupying the middle spots at Nos. 4 through 6.

A new month has arrived, which means a fresh batch of movies and TV shows streaming on Netflix. Most monumentally, the beginning of the month saw the conclusion of “Stranger Things 4,” which began back in May but is just now finishing up. (There’ll be one more season before the series winds down.) Other new Netflix original series this month include the horror-comedy “Boo, Bitch,” the fourth season of “Virgin River” and the fifth season of all-ages animated spin-off “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous” (which we’ve heard has some surprising connections to this summer’s blockbuster “Jurassic World: Dominion”).
On the Netflix original films side of things, the biggest new release is undoubtedly “The Gray Man.” A nonstop action extravaganza from Joe and Anthony Russo, the directing duo behind “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgmane,” it stars Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling as dueling spies. There’s also a new...

Remember that dark period on the 2022 calendar called June that didn’t feature the release of any new Stranger Things episodes? Well that nightmare is now over, friends. Netflix’s list of new releases for July 2022 is highlighted by the arrival of Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2.
The two episodes that constitute the “back half” of Stranger Things season 4 both premiere on July 1. And lest you think Netflix is shortchanging you with only two episodes, please be advised that the combined runtime of these two installments is pushing four hours! That’s a lot of minutes but then again, Stranger Things season 4 still has a lot of ground to cover. Will Eleven be able to help her friends and stop Vecna once and for all? We shall find out soon.
