- Things go from bad to worse for Homer and Ned.
- Homer has been held captive by a ruthless debt collector and his two henchmen. Marge manages to rescue her husband from his captors. However, Ned has already took the money so he can save Homer from Kostas. Homer retrieves the money from Ned's burning car, everyone in Springfield praises Homer for rescuing the orphanage's money, but Marge is enraged by Homer's selfishness even further. The Springfield citizens deem Ned and his family as pariahs. Ned and his family are forced to go into hiding when Kostas tries to hunt them down. Three years have passed, since Homer was praised as a hero and he is running a successful business, but Homer's relationship with Marge has worsened. Homer secretly goes to Wyoming to provide provisions for Ned and his children, both Homer and Ned realize that the money has caused them to act ungrateful, Marge arrives and she notices Homer's selfless act on providing for the Flanders family. Marge forgives Homer for his thoughtless attitude. Kostas has already tracked down Ned, he becomes desperate to kill Ned and obtain the cash, but Ned turns the tables on Kostas and he drowns in the icy pond. Ned and his family are welcomed back to Springfield and they redo their house. Homer and Marge begin to rekindle their relationship.
