Afm 2013 came to a close yesterday, but we still have a few tales to tell from the huge event... such as the latest on Hitchhiker Massacre, which debuted a new trailer and poster art at the show, both of which we have right here!
Retrofocus Pictures' slasher horror film Hitchhiker Massacre is directed by James L. Bills (Refuge of Last Resort) and produced by J. Horton (Monsters in the Woods, Edges of Darkness). Retrofocus is the brainchild of executive producer Ivan Nagy, who created the HBO series "The Hitchhiker" and directed Skinner.
The film stars Ely Lamay, Calista Carradine, John Barrymore, James Bartholet, Veronica Lavery, and Katherine Cronyn.
"Hitchhiker Massacre is a love letter to the slasher flicks I loved as a kid: Friday the 13th, Halloween, The Toolbox Murders, The Slumber Party Massacre. Gone is the self-referential, jokey comedy that infected so much horror post-Scream. I just wanted to make an honest,...

Here, the film, from producers Jason Horton (Edges of Darkness) and Ivan Nagy (Skinner), is showing to distributors. The film has also released a second trailer at the event. The clip shows more of the film's bare bones story and it focuses on what matters, bloodshed! Also, Hitchhiker Massacre stars John Barrymore, Calista Carradine, Playboy Playmate Veronica Lavery, Ely Lamay and Stephanie Gerard. The film begins with Sally (Lamay). She wants to leave her troubles behind by travelling across America. Things go wrong when Sally is picked up by a mysterious trucker. This driver is more cannibal, than good Samaritan. Now, Sally will have to fight for her life, or become just another meal. Hitchhiker Massacre is a throwback to slasher films of the past. Director James L. Bills says of the film: "[it] is a...

Director James L. Bills (Refuge of Last Resort) has recently completed work on the grindhouse slasher film Hitchhiker Massacre. This film was shot in Northern California, this year. Hitchhiker Massacre involves a roaming serial killer, who likes to serve up cannibal dishes, from those he picks up on backroads. This title was produced by Jason Horton (Edges of Darkness) and executive produced by Ivan Nagy (Skinner). As well, this title hosts an assortment of eye candy including: Playboy Playmate Veronica Lavery, Ely Lamay and Stephanie Gerard. Some of that sex appeal is shown in the film's first trailer. The film's official trailer sets that sexy tone early. Hitchhikers in booty shorts are the order of the day. As well, the clip shows a little of the gore that takes place after dark, in an isolated campground. Some strange culinary arts are also revealed in the film's first trailer. Hitchhiker Massacre...

Jason Horton, co-director and co-writer of the recently released zombie opus Edges Of Darkness, got in touch with news and an exclusive pic (see it below) from his new feature Trap. He describes the movie, which he scripted and helmed solo, as “a thriller following a brutal abduction that gets even worse when the middle-aged kidnapper falls for his 15-year-old victim.
“Trap is my third feature,” Horton tells us, “and it showcases my growth as a writer and director. Like my other movies, it doesn’t skimp on the violence, but it’s very character-based. I believe it is technically and creatively my strongest piece to date.”
The cast is headed by Alan Perada, Ashton Blanchard, Alonzo Jones and Annemarie Pazmino, and Horton’s Edges partner Blaine Cade co-edited with him and served as assistant director and production designer. Another Edges alumus, Robert Bravo, produced. “It’s his first solo gig in that capacity,...

Director: Jason Horton.
Writer: Jason Horton.
"Edges of Darkness" is a horror genre film, from director Jason Horton (Trap), that involves three separate character driven stories that center around an undead apocalypse with scripture from the book of revelations acting as a backdrop. Set in an overrun apartment complex the three stories are connected not only through location, but through a climactic ending. Unconventionally, a new group of actors are entered into the fray, at the films midpoint, as the unfocused premise attempts to tie up far too many plot devices late in the story.
The films central plot revolves around a religious end of the world involving several blood thirsty priests (Lee Perkins, Robert Kitchen) while several smaller plots look for attention in a quickly paced script. Fighting for survival in this murderous atmosphere are a small coven of vampires (Alonzo F. Jones) , a writer (Jay Costelo) in the midst of an alien invasion,...
