The stage curtains open ...
Well, I am halfway through Season 1 now having just finished watching Episode 4: "Just Let Go". After a slam-bang Episode 3, this one slows things down a bit to allow us to catch our breath. Sometimes during a season of just about any show out there, it is around the halfway point where the creators can tend to lose control. Not the case here. Things are still tightly reined in, well directed, and well acted - although Chucky himself is on a rampage.
We pick up the story in the local hospital where the surviving kids that were at Lexy's party (when the house caught on fire) have been admitted and are having their wounds tended to. Little Caroline is in intensive care, Chucky is missing, and low & behold - Lexy is still alive. In an effort to find and stop Chucky, Jake takes Lexy into his confidence and they reluctantly team up and head back to her house. It is here during a crucial moment that Jake is put to the test - to see if he is a killer or not.
There was plenty to like about this episode, like the others. We get more of a background on Charles Lee Ray and how he met his future partner in crime - a name you will smile to when you hear it. The scene in the burnt out house was pretty good as well as some of the hospital scenes. The story continues to get deeper and more detailed with tensions rising between parents and with the law.
Yes, this one slows us down, but then ends on a high note, effectively carrying us into the 2nd half of the series with Episode 5 right around the corner. I recommend Episode 4 at a solid 7 stars out of 10. So far so good for the first half. Time to get the next half going.
