Transformers actor Josh Duhamel is re-teaming with Canadian director Allan Ungar for the new action comedy London Calling, joined in the cast by Game of Thrones star Aidan Gillen, It actor Jeremy Ray Taylor and Rick Hoffman (Showtime’s Billions, USA Network’s Suits).
Duhamel, who starred in Ungar’s 2022 crime thriller Bandit, alongside Elisha Cuthbert and Mel Gibson, will play Tommy Ward, a mediocre hitman who accidentally kills a relative of London’s biggest crime boss (Aidan Gillen), forcing him to go on the run and landing him in L.A., far away from his London-based son. To get back, Tommy makes a deal with his new employer (Rick Hoffman): In exchange for safe passage, he agrees to teach his socially awkward teenage son Julian (Jeremy Ray Taylor) to be a man. But Tommy’s teachable moments include taking Julian to work, including on his latest contract killing of a renowned assassin.

It’s that time of year again, folks. The 2024 Grammy nominations have been announced, and for fellow K-pop fans, it’s another season of “disappointed, but not surprised.” This year’s nominations failed to nod to any artists out of Seoul, despite the diversity of genre, sound, and style displayed in the submissions.
Historically, BTS paved the way and set the precedent as the first and only K-pop act to secure a nomination, beginning at the 2021 ceremony with a nomination for “Dynamite.” The following year, “Butter” earned a nod in the same category (Best Pop Duo/Group Performance), alongside their collaboration with Coldplay, “My Universe,” and a Best Music Video nomination for “Yet to Come.”
This year, perhaps encouraged by the fact that BTS were able to start making waves in the Grammys world, many K-pop acts followed suit in submissions: aespa, Seventeen, Stray Kids, Tomorrow X Together, Twice, Nct,...

Signature Entertainment has acquired U.K. and Ireland rights to writer-director Warwick Thornton’s Australian drama “The New Boy” from The Veterans.
The film follows a nine-year-old Aboriginal orphan boy who arrives in the dead of night at a remote monastery run by a renegade nun, disturbing the delicately balanced world.
Debutant Aswan Reid leads the film in the titular role, alongside Cate Blanchett, Deborah Mailman (“Sapphires”) and Wayne Blair (“Rams”).
“Inspired by Thornton’s own experience of growing up as an Aboriginal boy in a Christian boarding school, this is ambitious, tonally tricky filmmaking, bringing an unexpected dose of whimsy to social interests more austerely explored in Thornton’s excellent previous features “Samson and Delilah” and “Sweet Country,” Variety critic Guy Lodge said in his review of the film.

In a recent livestream on Weverse, Rm confirmed that BTS intends to reunite in 2025, reinforcing the vision the group originally shared when a “second chapter” was announced in June of 2022.
As the members of BTS are completing their mandatory enlistment period in the South Korean military and sharing solo projects in the interim, the leader of the world-dominating group turned an eye towards the future and a return for the septet in full. While viewing a recent fan project, “Love Letter from Army,” he interjected: “It’s ongoing, it’s not the end. You guys know that, right?” Ever philosophical, the writer and rapper continued, “I hope that it is a reminder that spring will come again. Please continue to keep BTS alive in your hearts, in this moment and perhaps throughout your entire life.”
Conducting the livestream from his studio, Rm also teased another individual project in progress, a follow-up to 2022’s stellar Indigo.

After a couple of lean years, Berlin is ready to feast.
Its European Film Market kicks off on Thursday, Feb. 16 with hundreds of finished films and scores of new packages and projects for every cinematic taste and budget. Even as sellers are still setting up their stands at the EFM’s Martin Gropius Bau headquarters, new packages continue to come thick and fast.
Black Bear International, which helped close a deal with Lionsgate (for domestic) and Amazon (for multiple international territories) for Guy Ritchie’s World War II actioner The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare on the eve of Berlin, added the buzzy musical project Fred & Ginger, about Hollywood dance legends Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, played by Jamie Bell and Margaret Qualley, to its EFM slate. Black Bear will handle international sales of the project, previously at Amazon, with UTA Independent Film Group and 30West co-repping the U.S.

In space, no one can hear you scream when Russians shoot down a spy satellite, causing a cloud of debris that destroys the International Space Station where you happen to be on board. In the spectacular opening sequence of Alfonso Cuarón's "Gravity," starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, a phenomenon known as a Kessler Syndrome catastrophe takes place when space pollution tears into the modules, trusses, and solar arrays of the Iss in a sudden, terrifying accident.
Bullock's character, Ryan Stone, is sent hurtling out into the deep reaches of space. Understandably, she's panicked, disoriented, and deeply shaken. In a hostile environment where sound doesn't travel due to the lack of oxygen, all Stone can hear is the deep gulps of breath she's taking and the sound of her own rapid heartbeat. Stone is utterly alone, foreshadowing her isolation and self-reliance later on in "Gravity" where she has...

K-Pop legend BTS may be on hiatus but fans are decidedly not. Concert film BTS: Yet To Come hit no. 5 at the North American Box office this weekend with 5.1 million on 1,100+ screens, for a cume topping 7.8 million from the first showing Feb. 1.
The group announced last year it was planning to take a break. In October, after their one-off live concert to support the bid by Busan, Korea’s second biggest city, for the World Expo 2030, BTS said its seven members were planning to fulfill the Korean government’s mandatory military service and reconvene as a group in 2025. That concert footage has been cut, re-edited and remixed for the big screen.
“The members of BTS are currently moving forward with plans to fulfill their military service. After the phenomenal concert to support Busan’s bid for the World Expo 2030, and as each individual embarks on solo endeavors, it’s the...

The members of BTS either attended or performed at the Grammy Awards in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Even though the septet is nominated in three categories at the upcoming 2023 Grammy Awards, there has been no official confirmation that members of the band will be in attendance.

Unless a few members make a surprise appearance, Suga, J-Hope, Rm, Jimin, V, and Jungkook of BTS will not be in attendance at the 2023 Grammy Awards. The most likely reasons are because the band is currently not prioritizing group activities, and because Jin is completing his military service.
According to The Korea Herald, BTS will not “be present at the event this year as the group is currently on an indefinite break due to military enlistment and solo career commitments.”
