Riley is comically hounded by an unrelenting insurance agent (John Brown, whose Digger O'Dell character has been absent for quite some time). Overwhelmed in a cramped phone booth, Riley signs for a policy and has a medical exam. The doctor calls for Riley, and Babs writes this down on a notepad by the phone. Hilariously, Junior writes underneath it a message from the butcher that says "the heart's all gone and the liver's no good". Riley reads the message and comically thinks he won't last much longer as he proceeds to talk with his family and Gillis. Riley confides in Gillis who is upset by the news. Peg meets an old boyfriend named Monohan (character actor Ray Walker) who comes over that evening. His only intention is to sell a book, labeling (and angering) Peg as a middle-aged woman who should look better. Unknown of the actual situation, Gillis talks Riley into allowing the man to come into her life, as she'll need someone to help raise the kids when he's gone. Riley begins thinking he is taking a turn for the worst. Can he snap out of it?
Hilarious! Personally, I find the funniest situations are those of misunderstandings, and the comedy here is very well done. The funniest episode to this point of the series.
