Priyanka Chopra-Produced Doc Debuting On Prime Video India
Women of My Billion (Womb), a documentary about the forms of violence faced by women in India, will premiere exclusively on Prime Video India on May 3. Produced by Apoorva Bakshi and Monisha Thyagarajan’s Awedacious Originals in association with Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Purple Pebble Pictures, the documentary follows protagonist Srishti Bakshi on a walking pilgrimage across India – spanning 3,800 km over 240 days – to talk to women from various backgrounds about their struggles and dreams. “Women have borne the brunt of gender bias for far too long, enduring a silent struggle against entrenched social injustices that seek to suppress their voices. With Womb, the aim is to transcend these struggles – to be a beacon of hope,” said Chopra Jonas, Producer at Purple Pebble Pictures. “Womb is not merely a depiction of pain and suffering, but a rallying cry and call for solidarity and action.

“’I sacrificed my love on the altars of fame,’ Leonard Cohen said in the ‘70s,” “So Long, Marianne” showrunner Øystein Karlsen notes. Cohen was referring of course to his ‘60s decade-long relationship with Norway’s Marianne Ilhen, which shaped him for life.
One of the highest-profile and most anticipated world premieres in Series Mania main competition, “So Long, Marianne” is a coming of age love story which, in a quietly innovative, genre-breaking turn, asks whether the place in the world chosen by one character, Leonard Cohen, was always for his good.
Sold by Cineflix Rights as an eight-part series, “So Long, Marianne” begins in 1959 focusing on Norway’s Marianne Ilhen and Cohen’s love idyll on Hydra, a Greek island, which Ilhen reaches as the partner of budding Norwegian novelist Axel Jensen, and Cohen looking to find a place where, he says in Episode 1, he “can take responsibility for my own identity.

Paramount+ may have culled a wealth of international originals in the past couple of weeks but that hasn’t stopped it committing to a UK thriller series set in a world where men live under a strict nightly curfew.
Starring Sarah Parish, Doctor Who’s Mandip Gill, Mitchell Robertson and singer Alexandra Burke, Curfew is set in a society where all men live under ‘The Women’s Safety Act’, meaning they are bound by a strict curfew from 7Pm to 7Am every night, with their movements tracked by an ankle tag 24 hours a day. When a woman’s body is discovered, brutally murdered during curfew hours and left on the steps of the Women’s Safety Centre, veteran Police officer Pamela Green believes that a man is responsible. But in a world where men are bound by the curfew system, her theory is rejected.

Exclusive: The BBC is developing a drama series about Bible John, one of Britain’s most notorious unidentified serial killers.
The as-yet-untitled show is understood to be in early-stage development with the BBC drama division. Buccaneer Media, which produces the likes of Irvine Welsh adaptation Crime and Paramount+ series The Burning Girls, is behind the development. The Pembrokeshire Murders scribe Nick Stevens was writing but is no longer attached, we understand.
Nicknamed due to his repeatedly quoting from the bible and condemnation of adultery while in the company of his final victim, Bible John is thought to have murdered three young women – Patricia Docker, Jemima MacDonald and Helen Puttock – between 1968 and 1969 in Glasgow, Scotland.
He has never been found, although several suspects have been linked to the case, including convicted serial killer and rapist Peter Tobin, but this was eventually disproved by DNA evidence.

Taken into care, abused, objectified: the actor had a traumatic start to life – and her career. Why does she feel such a strong connection to her new TV role: privileged, notorious Catherine de Medici?
Not so long ago, Samantha Morton was given a relic from her past – her application form to join Nottingham’s Central Junior Television Workshop. It had asked her to list what she wanted to be when she grew up. Prime minister, she wrote, followed by novelist and actor. She laughs, remembering it. We had been talking about whether she might go into politics one day – not such a leap for an actor who is intensely political (the “novelist” bit might have to wait). But it also seems to sum up so much else about the young Sam I’m picturing, defiant blue eyes staring out from the scrappy passport photo that would have been stapled to the corner of the sheet.
