- Miss Martian, Superboy, Beast Boy, and Martian Manhunter take a little vacation... to somewhat unfriendly climes.
- While Miss Martian and Superboy, accompanied by John Jonzz and Beast Boy, go to Mars to complete their wedding rituals, they encounter changing societal dynamics, increasing hostility towards Earth, and a royal conspiracy, being watched from shadows by some visitors.
- At Happy Harbor, a newscaster on TV announces that the Outsiders are welcoming Terra, Forager, and Superboy to their team. Megan turns off the TV and asks Conner if he's a public hero now, and figures she should give back Conner's engagement ring if he can't trust or forgive her. Conner hopes that Megan will trust and forgive him, and apologizes for dredging up old wounds. Megan kisses Conner and he kisses her back.
One year later, Conner tells Megan that he knows it means a lot to her folks that they have the religious ceremony on Mars with them. Megan promises they'll come back to Earth for the civil ceremony. Bug, Tara, and Violet arrive via the teleportation booth in the garage, and Tara and Violet discuss how Brion won't speak to them despite their efforts. Megan says that they're waiting for Gar, and Violet tells them that he's dealing with some last-minute logistics for the Outsiders.
Harper Row comes out of the house and greets Violet, and Lucas and his wife along with Cullen Row come out. Gar arrives via teleportation as Megan and Conner prepare to leave in Bioship. Harper confirms that Cullen hasn't told anyone, and he insists that he hasn't. Gar is on the phone to Cassie, making sure she's handling things for the Outsiders. He admits to Cassie that he needs the vacation, and joins Conner and Megan.
J'onn emerges from Bioship and tells Megan that all the supplies are aboard. Megan says goodbye to the others, assuring them they'll be back in three months for the wedding. The trio go inside and Gar takes the helm, and Bioship lifts off. A blonde girl wearing a Legion flight ring watches the ship fly into space.
A month later as Bioship approaches Mars, Megan tells Conner that 10 years ago she couldn't wait to leave the planet, and now she's glad to be coming back. Gar complains about being cooped up on Bioship for a month, Bioship makes it clear it wants to fly itself down, and they land as a sandstorm comes in. Megan has Bioship take them to the new Science Center, and the ship descend through a crevasse to the underground capital city. Megan dons her M'gann costume, and Gar transforms into a Ma'arzuu Beast.
M'gann telepathically downloads the Martian language into her comrades' brains, and tells them to watch their thoughts. A White Martian greets them, and M'gann is surprised to learn their greeter is the Chief-Scientist Bureaucrat. She then introduces the Martian, M'ree, to the others. M'ree says that she goes by "Em'ree" now, and J'onn goes to get the rest of the equipment.
Em'ree says that she wants them to feel comfortable in the city, and takes on the form of Gar's mother the actress. When she realizes that he's "creeped out", Em'ree transforms into Rita from 'Hello, Megan!'. Once J'onn unloads the equipment, M'gann tells Bioship that it's free to go and have fun. As Bioship leaves, the trio turn down Em'ree's offer to show them the city, much to her disappointment.
As the trio walk through the city, they hear the telepathic chatter from the Martians around them. Some of the chatter is insults about the Earthers and M'gann, and the trio notices that some of the shapeshifting Martians have taken on the form of TV characters based on the signals J'onn has been sending to Mars. Some of them have taken the forms of the Outsiders, and are eager to meet a real Outsider like Conner.
Some hostile Martians bombard Conner and Gar with their thoughts. M'gann puts up a telepathic filter and tells the hostile Martians to depart, and they do. She takes her friends to her folks' place, while a seeming-Martian with a Legion flight ring watches them from the shadows.
On the surface, the sandstorm rolls in. Bioship goes to a bio-cavern and changes shape to that of others of its kind. It starts giving off a light pattern, and the other forms join in.
When the trio arrives at M'gann's home, her parents M'aatt and J'ann greet them. J'ann assures Conner that they're all friendly, and M'gann says that they walked there and passed on Em'ree's offer of transport. She shows her parents her engagement ring, and J'ann explain to M'aatt that the ring is an important Earth custom, a precursor to matrimony.
Conner asks for the Martians' blessing to marry M'gann, and M'aatt says that the tradition on Mars is for the female to ask for the blessing. M'gann says that she asked all of Conner's "parents", and M'gann's parents give their blessing. Gar asks where the yellow priesthood cast of Martians comes from, and M'aatt explains that any Martian can become a yellow if they feel the calling. When Gar asks about M'gann's 27 other siblings, J'ann explains that they're very busy.
As J'onn and Em'ree assemble a Zeta Tube, the Consul-General R'ess Edda arrives and tells Em'ree to stop immediately, and that Mars has no need for a Tube. R'ess is upset that their children pretend to be Earthers, or that two Earths contaminate their streets, or that M'gann brought the Earthers there. J'onn confronts R'ess and says that he doesn't appreciate the consul-general talking about his nieces in such a tone, and R'ess says that he doesn't appreciate them building a Zeta-Tube to bring more Earthers to Mars and contaminating their culture. J'onn tells R'ess that he regrets nothing, and Em'ree points out that her orders from the Queen. R'ess says that he'll see about it and storms out, and J'onn tells Em'ree that he didn't think things had gotten so bad. Em'ree admits that things are worse than J'onn knows, and asks him not to tell M'gann and Conner, so the wedding goes well.
Conner privately asks M'gann why things have changed since the last time they were there. M'gann assures Conner that nothing will get in the way of them getting marries, while an invisible figure watches them.. The house shakes, and M'gann goes outside to investigate despite J'ann's objections. Martians are outside protesting the presence of Earthers, and Beast Boy turns into a far more ferocious beast. The protestors brain-blast him, and Gar collapses. M'gann scatters the protestors with her own brain blast, and Beast Boy says that he's dizzy but okay. A racist slang term is painted on the outside of the house.
In the bio-cavern, 'all of the creature turn to liquid and merge into one being.
Gar joins the others, complaining about his headache from the brain-blasts. M'gann asks her parents what is going on with the protestors, and J'ann explains that they didn't say anything so the couple could have a nice wedding. M'aatt says that things have gotten worse since the king's death. The king was trying to eliminate the caste system, and stated publicly that all of the castes were genetically identical. He believed in cooperation between planets, but he was murdered a month ago. The murderer hasn't been identified, despite the fact that Martians are telepathic, and the White and Green castes blame the other.
The king's widow, J'arlia, is in charge, and has rolled back her husband's reforms. Conner wonders if M'gann believes that her brother M'Comm killed the king.
In an underground chamber, M'Comm telepathically communicates with his followers, and declares that he is now and forever Ma'alefa'ek, and they are all Ma'alef'ek. He says that the Greens killed the king to stop them and the other Whites from gaining their rights, but the king only pretended to help to keep them in line. J'arlia hasn't rolled back the Zeta-Tube to Earth yet, because the Earthers are allied with the Greens thanks to J'onn. Ma'alefa'ek says that they must decide whether they will let the Greens and Earthers ally against them, or rise.
Bio-Ship emerges from the pool and then splits off a smaller bio. The two of them transform into ships and fly off the planet.
M'gann and the others go to the Zeta-Tube station, and J'onn tells them that the installation is complete and the Tube is ready for testing. The queen's representative tells them that queen has given them approval to proceed,
R'ess breaks into J'arlia's chambers and says that a thousand White have mind-linked and protest the insanity that is the Tube. In the Tube chamber, Conner and Gar are overwhelmed by the link and M'gann puts up another filter to block the telepathic presence. Gar snaps at M'gann for not establishing the filter earlier and then apologizes. J'onn is in contact with Superman at the Watchtower, and Superman tells J'onn that they're ready to go at their end.
J'arlia tells the Whites that their cause is misguides, and they must cooperate with Earth because the galaxy is full of dangers to Mars. R'ess and his followers insists that Earth is a danger to Mars,
J'onn tells his sister J'ann that he will Zeta to the watchtower and come right back.
J'arlia insists that most Earthers are not a danger to them, and they need their sister planet's help. M'gann telepathically senses M'comm invisible watching them, and the guards capture him. Meanwhile, J'arlia tells the whites that R'ess is wrong and Earth is not the danger, but Apokolips is. R'ess says that the queen is ignoring the danger to their culture. J'onn telepathically joins the link and says that Earth and its heroes will fight to protect their culture. M'gann scans M'comm's mind and tells J'onn that the intruder didn't have time to sabotage the Tube, so it's safe to proceed.
As J'onn enters the tube, J'arlia asks the Martians if they trust J'onn. The protestors depart the link, despite M'ress's objections, and accuses J'onn of bringing the "Earther corruption" to Mars. J'arlia insists that J'onn is a true hero.
As J'onn enters the tube, it blows up. In the aftermath, M'gann tells Conner that she can't feel J'onn's mind-touch.
Black Canary checks in on Violet on Black Lightning's orders to see how she's doing after Brion left. Violet admits that she doesn't truly understand her feelings, and is still mystified by his choices. She's considering her own choices, including her feelings about Islam that Gabrielle had. Violet determines to explore whether Islam has meaning for her or not as it did for Gabrielle.
