Is it possible to make a documentary about the future? Following a widely-praised festival run that included screenings at Locarno, Tiff, and Nyff, Isiah Medina’s debut feature 88:88 was recently made available on YouTube. Since then, I’ve encountered questions asking whether or not 88:88 is a collapse or amalgamation of modern technology, and the seemingly contradictory nature of such inquiries emphasizes only a portion of the blurring of distinctions Medina’s cinema orchestrates. The Head of Programming at Locarno, Mark Peranson, called Medina the “most adventurous and contemporary practitioner of the avant-garde of his generation.” Perhaps the most contemporary avant-garde filmmaker is the most suited to draw the cinematic contours of our collective future. Medina is now in the process of adapting Nick Srnicek and Alex Williams’s Inventing the Future, a manifesto that insists on the emancipatory role of technology as we push towards the full automation of labor.

Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Captain Marvel and Inhumans are all put back...
You've probably seen the news by now that Spider-Man is officially part of the Marvel cinematic universe. Furthermore, a new Spider-Man film from Sony has also been confirmed, and it'll have a release date of July 28th 2017.
That, though, has had a knock on effect on four other Marvel movies. For July 2017 was when we were originally going to see Thor: Ragnarok in cinemas. That's been put back now to November 3rd 2017.
November 3rd 2017 had been the date originally earmarked for Black Panther, starring Chadwick Boseman, so that's now going to be released on July 6th 2018. The domino effect continues, as Captain Marvel then goes from July 2018 to November 2nd 2018, and Inhumans is bumped from November 2018 to July 12th 2019.
In case you're not following this, the changes are:

The domino effect. The greenhouse effect. The Graham Norton Effect. We live in a world of action and reaction, where simple operations lead to complex outcomes. No human endeavor is exclusive to the laws of nature, not even cinema. As with compounds, movies are defined by a combination of elements. Change one thing, and you have a completely different movie. A choice of direction, a casting decision, or a simple joke can all affect a film’s legacy. Just ask the internet.
The internet is credited with all manner of social phenomena, from uprisings to addictions. What it’s best at, though, is pointing out the flaws in movies. Like monkeys combing for insects, the wired generation can find something wrong with any movie, even a good one. It’s a natural extension of our desire to understand how things work. The danger lies in losing our ability...

He joins the previously announced Corey Stoll, Mia Maestro, Kevin Durand, Jonathan Hyde, and Richard Sammel. NBC’s broadcast of the Philadelphia/Dallas on Sunday game posted a 6.6 rating/16 share in adults 18-49, which helped the net to continue its winning streak on the night in the key demographic. CBS dominated in the total viewers race (23.9 million) thanks to a football overrun, but NBC finished Sunday with a winning 5.3/13 in 18-49, according to early results.
CBS came in second in the demo with the combination of the gridiron action and 60 Minutes earning its best ratings for the night with a 5.9/16. The domino effect continued at 8 with the 60 Minutes/The Amazing Race combo earning a 3.1/7, followed by...

Antonia Bird (Priest, Face) is directing one of the features Kees Kasander -- Peter Greenaway's regular producer -- is making with London-based Film & Music Entertainment and post-production house Molinare. The 4-film slate will cost $17.5 million to produce. One of the films, The Domino Effect, is already in the can and editing in the Netherlands. “This isn’t one of those fantasy slates that you read about,” F&Me co-principal Mike Downey tells me. “All 4 films are pretty much financed. We’re just bringing the last slice in.” Bird will helm Cross My Mind in early 2011. UK Film Council, Screen Yorkshire and the Netherlands Film Fund are backing this erotic thriller, which plays out between a married, older woman and a young wounded, blinded soldier – but the woman is not who he thinks she is... Arthouse favourite Greenaway will shoot Goltzius and The Pelican Company, about a 16th century Dutch...
