Don't quit your day job
gunsnglitter2 May 2021
I was thrilled when I learned that a game show involving Crosswords was coming to the Game Show Network. I have often thought Crossword puzzles would make a great game show and have imagined a concept of how it would work. I'm hoping that the show continues, with some much needed changes. The way the game is played currently leaves a lot to be desired. I like Leah Remini, although her voice has always really gotten on my nerves. I think she should go back to her day job and stick to acting. She just doesn't have the upbeat attitude or enthusiasm that a show like this needs. She mostly just seems very uncomfortable and she lacks the people skills that one needs to pull off the job of game show host effectively. And for pete's sake, pick up the pace. She reads the clues SOOO painfully slow that the contestants always come SOOO close to winning, but rarely do. I have watched a number of episodes where she was clearly responsible for the contestant's loss due to her pace, not theirs.

Something strange about this game show.
krisblue-202822 August 2022
I love Leah but the lip thing catches me off guard. The music to the show is very dry and strange. Also the pink and blue seems to be the new game show thing. Very annoying To the eyes.

Also, for some reasons it seems like some of these contestants are very very weird. Some seem normal regular people, But the strange ones are very bizarre, Don't think I've ever seen anything like it on any other game show. All in all it comes across as sort of a freak show. One lady made clicking sounds woth her mouth. Are they auditioning for something? It's like they were pulled straight out of a looney bin. It's very hard to watch.

Leah needs to read faster
kabanks-2755922 December 2021
Leah takes way to long to read the clues. Also you people never say what does the 2nd place person get? Do the also get a subscription to people magazine.

If i was playing this game I'd tell Leah to read faster.

A Couple Problems
nilvedm7 May 2022
Yes...slow reading host.

But after round 1 player A (0 points) goes first followed by player on the right (B) . But what if player B has 500 points and player C has 200?... Order should change for 2nd round. Player A and B will take up all the long words, leaving C with 4 letter words. Even take into account who went first in round 1 toss up for ties.

And player behind should always go first in the head-to-head round (since player with 0 points goes first in round 2)

SPEED UP LEAH REMINI!!!!
geeshari15 March 2022
I'm sick and tired of Leah Remini wasting the contestants' precious time by reading the clues SO SLOW!!! Get with it and speed her up!!

She needs a lesson from Brooke on Master Minds. Come on, producers and directors, make this game fair!!!

Love Leah but as a game show host?
ChRiS-80324 March 2021
She's so dry, sarcastic and looks so uninterested in these idiots, I can't stop laughing at some of the looks she gives them. God love her. I am unsure why anyone thought she was a game show host. So bizarre. She looks like she wants to blow up the stage and call it a day😊

The show is enormously easy. The format and rules needs some work. Why get rid of someone after two rounds? What's the point of the 3 in a row nonsense?

Really dumb contestants
ajrae-774651 November 2021
Crossword is a pretty solid format for a game show but this one screws it up.

For starters, it's a commercial for vapid celebrity-worshipping People magazine so you know it isn't going to be "Jeopardy!" going in, but where do they get these people as contestants? An endless parade of ditzes who are completely stumped by anything that happened before 2015 or so. (One contestant didn't know Elvis is called "the King." No, really.)

Leah needs to read the clues faster in the timed rounds. And for the love of God, when a contestant in the finals finishes 5 or 6 clues short of winning, please stop saying "You were soooooooo close!" It is like nails on a chalkboard.

Lighthearted
cockezville24 November 2021
Ok this is not Jeopardy, but it isn't supposed to be. I find it a fun show and I like Leah. She has a New York humor. I wish she would ease up on the face fillers though and the lips. She can barely talk because of it.

Leah Remini is so very funny and cute. Too bad you all have no sense of humor and don't get her humor. At least all the contestants get her humor. All you have to do is watch the show to see how much fun everyone is having.

Interesting but seriously flawed
chasmitpayme22 February 2024
I still watch People Puzzler occasionally. I wanted to love it or even like it a lot but it's too flawed for that. As for the positives, I like Leah Remini and I like that the show has a rule that in effect corrects one of Jeopardy's two main flaws. Unlike Jeopardy, players essentially cannot run up the score. There is no instance of someone slaughtering the other contestants. This is because there is a wonderful rule in place that one can answer more than 3 questions in a row, even if they get everyone correct. There is no rambling off one answer after another and showboating. Perhaps the only drawback of the rule is that a person can lose because the puzzle questions all get filled in while he or she is awaiting his or her next turn. Still the rule is powerful and Jeopardy can learn from it. Now for the real flaws of the show. Two main flaws exist really. The players don't usually seem fairly matched aged wise. They'll do a puzzle like hit songs from the 60's but when 2 contestants are middle- aged but the third is 22 years old and was born in 2002 you can feel the mismatch and the decisive disadvantage for the young person. Likewise, the same happens in reverse when a contestant who is 60 has to try to fill in a puzzle about Gen-Z against a 20 year old who would obviously have the profound advantage in this instance. As for the 2nd flaw, it's the more commom flaw and to me as a viewer permeates every contemporary gameshow, especially stalwarts like Jeopardy and The Price Is Right but sadly it is also prominent here- a distinct advantage gender wise namely favoring male contestants. For example, I notice on People Puzzler when 2 of the 3 contestants are men, when they get to the showdown round where only 2 contestants remain it seems solidly both are men a good 80% of the time ( though I didn't do the math officially yet). Even when women are 2 of the 3 contestants, it seems like the one male player makes it to the bonus round for 10,000 dollars over 50% of the time. Also attending this problem is the seemingly different demeanors along gender lines. The male players seem more know it alls ( even though I think woman are more intuitive than men), and exude not only a tendency to be more animated in their responses but sadly obviously far more arrogant in their responses. Sadly, People Puzzler is not alone in this problem. Again shows like Jeopardy seem to feast on male contestant advantage. I hope one day there can be a new and improved People Puzzler that addresses these gender parity issues. Final analysis- watch as an entertainment but not with the ambition of looking for a show with a fierce sense of competition.

Can't watch
dgibbs-0513215 September 2021
I can't watch Leah Remini on people puzzler. Boring boring boring. She is so rude to the players. Can she read any slower? She has lost the game for the contestants many times by reading sooooo slow. Why can't the producers see that? If I have to listen to her (tawk) one more time I'll scream. Who in the world thought she would be a good host? Sorry until there is another host I'm done with the show.

Leah is Awesome
aloch-3032021 March 2023
People puzzler is my new favorite game show. And the reason for that is Leah Remini! I absolutely Love her! Ok so I admit to having a girl-crush on her ever since I saw her on King of queens the first time. Words I would use to describe Leah are saucy, sarcastic, funny, hilarious, and awesome. She just has this Lo-key, cool type of attitude and I can relate to it so much.

I am so glad she is on the show where she can just be herself and not have to act a part. I didn't really like her and Kevin can wait or whatever that show was called.. but she is just like her character from king of queens, Carrie. And she kind of low key insults the players, but only when they really deserve it. So be sure to give this show a chance. You won't be disappointed!

Slow and Boring Host
siteorg11 August 2021
I think the show is very boring and not a show that needs brains as a player. Looks like the host Leah Remini had surgery on her lip and now she cannot have a decent smile. She is not a host who keeps someone's attention. I also think the game is easy. Do not have to think very hard unless you do not watch TV or movies. If this makes a second season it is not because it is a good game show or the host is good.

Host is mater at wasting time
billbaxter-549328 June 2022
I enjoy the show but way too much time is wasted on idle chatting by the host with contestants in an effort to try and be funny. Contestants lose out on a chance for more points because of all the pointless goofing around. There is no reason for any round to run out of time if the host would allow them to introduce themselves once and then get on with the game. She could also read the clues much faster. Man, she reads like a turtle. She should watch Masterminds and take some lessons from Brooke Burns.

Host

Great show just quit dressing Leah like a 90 year old and get her to stop saying Oh you were so close when they get 2 out 9 in the final. That's not close. And maybe Leah should stop talking so much contestants get one away from getting bonus points and they say oops we're out of time. And quit dressing so bad.

Worst game show ever
jacquie-harris24 July 2021
There are so many things wrong with this show, I barely know where to begin. Here goes:

First, I'd like to think Leah Remini is not a totally uneducated person, but her vocabulary definitely needs improvement. Virtually every time a contestant answers correctly, Remini responds with, "Good job!" She appears incapable of saying anything but those two words. Frankly, I'm kind of amazed neither the director nor producer of the show has urged her to come up with a few other replies. Also, at the end of the show, if the contestants fail to win $10,000, must she always say, "Don't worry, you've still won $1,000." Why would they worry?

Third, giving the third-place contestant a year's subscription to "TV Guide" is fine, I suppose. Here's my BIG gripe: Exactly what is given to the runner-up??? It would appear that person gets . . . Absolutely nothing. I realize that on most game shows the runner-up leaves empty-handed. However, if a prize, however small in value, is given to the person in THIRD place, how can the runner-up be given not a cent? It defies all logic and common sense.

Fourth, and this is the worst issue with the show: there's something inherently wrong with the way it's designed. If I've been able to observe this almost every time I've watched, how is it the creator and/or producer hasn't also caught on? And herein lies the problem: Often after the first round, the person in third place is able to forge ahead in round two by virtue of going first. By the time the third player takes his turn, despite having ended round one with a much higher score, there are not even three words left to play! What I'm saying is that the person in third place after round one should NOT be rewarded for doing poorly, yet I see this all the time.

Fifth, don't contestants have to try out before being accepted as players? I'm stunned by the idiotic responses of some of these adults. Sometimes, five letters of a six-letter word are displayed, and they still stand there with a stupid look on their face.

In sum, this show offers nothing, and I can no longer watch this drek.

Fun show!
gcvhollister13 April 2023
I really enjoy this show and I think Leah is a good host. She's very good and natural at conversations with the contestants! She has fun with her contestants. The contestants are the ones that annoy me because they try too hard to be funny! They act silly and rumbustious, just trying to get the audience to laugh. Please stop! Also, Leah is such a pretty woman but who in the world picks her clothes?!? Half the time when she wears patterns she looks like she's wearing a house robe, ugh! Please hire a new fashion designer for her who will put her in solid colors. Solids bring out her beauty! Patterns drown her out and make her look like she is 80.

Dull host
marcelle-2197128 March 2021
Leah Remini isn't a good host. She just stands there stiff as a board and her facial expression seem frozen. She looks uncomfortable. The game is interesting but the host should be changed.

Love it!
ocashel16 June 2022
One of the reasons I love the show is because Leah hosts it! She makes it entertaining. The puzzle answers are pretty easy, and the flow of the show is perfect. It is true, sometimes, contestants lose time when Leah reads clues, but not enough to ruin the show.

LOVE Leah
deniseduf19 July 2022
I LOVE Leah but she's TOO SLOW reading the questions!!! I've counted up to 6 seconds it takes her to read!!! And if the contestants answer B4 she's done reading she makes a comment taking more time. I'm SO SORRY Leah I LOVE ALL you do. Especially the exposure of the slime bags in Clearwater. I was a witness to their criminal behavior.

Unfair Show
mainers-505852 March 2022
I get frustrated with how this show is arranged and how sloooow Leah Remini reads the clues. Besides looking like she can't even pronounce the words it's totally unfair to the contestants because they are being timed.

Questions: Why does the one with the lowest score go first in round 2. Why reward that person.

The whole show is unfair . Even on the bonus round, sometimes she picks the one with the lowest score to go first and some nights she picks the one with the highest score.

The whole show needs to be refigured. My husband feels the same way. He wonders "what happened to her lips because they look weird"!

We are not watching this holy mess anymore!

Confusion
normor-5008324 March 2022
Why is it that sometimes on the head to head puzzle, one day the highest score gets to pick first, other days it is the one with the lowest score. I love this show, watch it frequently but don't understand this policy.

Why does Leah act so silly
wfhassell11 July 2022
There are the silliest contestants on this show I have ever seen. But why does Leah imitate this silly antics? She would appear more like a professional if she would ignore the silly movements and actions of silly players.

Boring, bad host, & answers are too easy
jolney-963715 August 2021
The host always seems like she doesn't want to be there. She's very dry, emotionless, and just mean to the contestants.

The answers in the puzzles seem too easy, and they really shouldn't give them the first letter free-- starts to defeat the purpose of it being a crossword puzzles.

Also it's basically an ad for People's magazine-- they even have the lamest consolation prize ever--a 1 year subscription to the magazine. What is that, a $10 value for the company?
