Joan Rivers passed away Aug. 4 at the age of 81. Rivers was a unique voice, at once modern and classic—she was timely in her commentary yet refused to make apologies. Historically, she was one of the first female standup comedians, and 60 years later she was still the best.
Joan Rivers Funniest Moments
To this day Rivers was the first and last woman to ever host a late night talk show on network television. Incisive, shrill, xenomorphic, vicious, honest and brilliant, Rivers was a comedian’s comedian, and this is a list of some of her best moments. Naturally, none of this is safe for work.
#1 Joan Rivers’ Ron Bennington Interviews
Radio personality and brilliant interviewer Ron Bennington had three detailed interviews with Joan Rivers—in May of 2010, and in March and July of 2014. The interviews are masterfully orchestrated by Bennington who essentially lets his subject steer the interview, and carefully inquiring for more detail.

Kathy Griffin has starred in plenty of fine television series before, including Kathy's My So-Called Reality on MTV, Bravo's wonderful My Life on the D-List, and even Suddenly Susan, I say. But no format is a better fit for the comedienne than a talk show, and her new jam Kathy on the Bravo Network will hopefully reinvigorate the tired genre once and for all. Its first episode was lovely, and thus, it's time we reflect on Kathy's 10 funniest moments ever. You can claim that her D-list gossipmongering is just shtick, and you can even claim that the 51-year-old firestarter is a bit more aloof than she used to be, but you can't say that the woman doesn't get it. I consider myself a longtime Kathy superfan (though I prefer her older standup specials and mourn My Life on the D-List every day), so hopefully this is a comprehensive countdown.

Cannes -- Brash met business on Tuesday as Joan Rivers brought her brazen comedy to MIPCOM to promote "The Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers." The Cannes police squad met its match as the chief of fashion police hammed it up along the Croisette to promote the 90-minute roast.
"Funny is funny. It's that simple," Rivers said of the response to the show. The comedy genre has been a popular one at this year's Mipcom, which Rivers attributes to the uneasy global financial climate. "When you don't know if you're going to be working next week, or if your bank is going to stay open or if you did in fact invest with Bernie Madoff, you're glad to laugh," she said.
Rivers also is in town promoting TVLand's hit "How'd You Get So Rich?" from Mark Burnett and Zoo Prods. So how...

That red carpet was actually snow white, making the color scheme the only thing "clean" at the taping of the Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers. In fact, there were more insults than actual guests at the wild soiree, which airs 10 pm Sunday, Aug. 9 and repeats throughout the month. Legend Carl Reiner, and stars Mario Cantone, Jeffrey Ross, Tom Arnold, Greg Giraldo, Brad Garrett and Whitney Cummings handled grilling duties. (Watch for Gilbert Gottfried, who brings down the house.) Melissa Rivers, Jackie Collins, Michael C. Hall were also in attendance. Needless to say, the latest addition of the popular roasts will go down in history as the cable net's most savage endeavor. Barbs--most so far below the belt, you can felt knees buckling--flew with careless abandon. (It's a far cry from those Dean Martin roasts ...) "Joan knows what...

Fearful of neither surgical scalpel nor inflammatory comebacks, Joan Rivers is well-established in her role as an intrepid, unfiltered pundit. The tables will be turned on the woman with the ruthless red carpet tongue in upcoming "Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers" airing August 9.
The honorary roastee will field incisive, side-splitting quips from comedians such as Brad Garrett, Carl Reiner, Gilbert Gottfried, Lily Tomlin, Mario Cantone Richard Belzer and Robin Quivers.
Roast master Kathy Griffin will lead the barb-slinging pack who recently gathered in L.A. for the July 26 studio taping.
"I'm thrilled to be doing this for Comedy Central," says Rivers. Quick to follow the statement with a sharp, self-deprecating punch line she adds, "The last time I was roasted I was half of a two-for-one special: Joan of Arc and me."...

Joan Rivers has been tucked, pulled, and now she'll be roasted. Yes, the comedian known for her no-holds-barred comedy will be on the receiving end this time as Comedy Central hosts the "Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers." Who else will host but fellow brash female comedian Kathy Griffin?
Griffin will take time out from her heavily watched "D-List" activities to join Rivers as Roast Master. Griffin, as only she could, said that she'll be giving Rivers a "verbal pap smear."
"I will be roasting Joan with more gentleness and tenderness than her latest chemical peel and, on the other hand, I will give her a verbal pap smear and god only knows what I'm going to find down there," Griffin said.
Comedy Central has recently hosted roasts for Bob Saget, William Shatner, and Pamela Anderson. The "Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers" will air Sunday, August 9th at 10pm Et/Pt.
