All episodes of Twilight of the Gods are now streaming on Netflix, and the review embargo for Zack Snyder's adult animated Norse mythology series lifted around the same time the show premiered.
This isn't always a great sign, but the first wave of reviews have been mostly very positive.
Snyder's work has rarely gone over well with critics, but his last Netflix collaboration - the Rebel Moon movies - really came in for a drubbing. So far, Twilight of the Gods has fared a lot better.
Though there are some negative verdicts, the majority of write-ups praise the animation style, world-building, voice-acting and bloody action - although it sounds like Snyder may have overindulged in the graphic violence and sex a little too much for some tastes.
Have a read through the reviews below, and we'll be sure to update once we have a Rotten Tomatoes score.

Zack Snyder's adult animated Norse mythology series, Twilight of the Gods, is set to premiere on Netflix on September 19, and the streamer has now released an action-packed final trailer.
This full-length promo spotlights plenty of bloody battles, as a mortal warrior named Sigrid enlists the aid of Loki (probably not a great idea) to wage war against Thor after the vengeful God of Thunder murders her entire family.
"In a mythical world of great battles, great deeds, and great despair, Leif (Stuart Martin), a mortal king, is saved on the battlefield by Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks), an iron-willed warrior with whom he falls in love," reads the updated synopsis. "On their wedding night, Sigrid and Leif survive a wrath of terror from Thor (Pilou Asbæk), which sets them — and a crew of crusaders — on a merciless mission for vengeance, against all odds. This heroic story of love, loss, and revenge,...

The sequel to the blockbuster Joker is on the way, and Joaquin Phoenix and Todd Phillips have an intriguingly quirky reason for diving back in. Their previous film was nothing short of a cultural phenomenon, both critically acclaimed and a box office powerhouse, with Phoenix’s unforgettable performance still sending ripples through the industry.

As they now set the stage for the sequel, hopes are high for yet another home run. Still, there’s undeniable tension. The actor-director duo, Phoenix and Phillips are well aware that this film could either soar or stumble dramatically. But that’s the exciting gamble of the film world.

"They want a war... I will give it to them."
Following several brief teasers, Netflix (via Toonado.com) has released an action-packed full trailer for Zack Snyder's adult animated Norse mythology series, Twilight of the Gods, which is set to premiere on the streaming service on September 19.
This "blood, sex and dragons" promo makes it abundantly clear that this will not be a show for the whole family, as a mortal warrior named Sigrid wages war against Loki, Thor and all of their fellow Asgardian gods in extremely violent fashion while also taking care of some other business in the bedroom.

Warner Bros. has released a new poster for Joker: Folie À Deux, Todd Phillips' highly anticipated sequel to 2019's Joker. This follow-up will revolve around the twisted romance between Arthur Fleck and Lee Quinzel, a.k.a. Joker and Harley Quinn.
Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga are put front and centre on this latest sneak peek, though the fact they're both blood-spattered seems pretty ominous.
The actor recently spoke to Empire Magazine and revealed that he was only willing to play Joker again provided the movie didn't feel safe. "It's the only way that I can do any movie," he said. "If it doesn't feel like it's dangerous, if there's not a good chance that you're gonna fail spectacularly then what's the point?"
Phillips added, "That was literally the reason to do it. The only reason Joaquin would even do a sequel is if it felt frightening to him. One...

One of the most anticipated movies of the fall season is unquestionably "Joker: Folie a Deux." The film serves as a sequel to 2019's "Joker," which became the first R-rated movie in history to cross $1 billion at the box office. It also earned Phoenix an Oscar for Best Actor. That being the case, fans are eager to see Joaquin Phoenix return as the Clown Prince of Crime once more in director Todd Phillips' follow-up. The fact that Lady Gaga is also on board to play a brand new version of Harley Quinn only adds to the intrigue. However, it wasn't a guarantee that Phoenix was going to sign on for a sequel, despite the original's success. Getting the Oscar-winner back came with one major condition.
Speaking with Empire, Phoenix and Phillips discussed the sequel, which is due to hit theaters in October. For Phoenix, he was only willing to come...

Bad Monkey isn’t just the title of Vince Vaughn’s new Apple TV+ series; the phrase could also apply to his primate scene partner, according to the actor.
Crystal the Monkey — who has more than 30 credits to her name, including The Hangover Part II and Night at the Museum — plays the titular monkey in the show, which is adapted from Carl Hiaasen’s 2013 book of the same name. It follows a former Miami detective Andrew Yancy (Vaughn) who is demoted to a restaurant inspector in the Florida Keys; an unusual new case might get him back in the department if he can get past an odd cast of characters and one monkey.
Though Vaughn admitted Crystal is “a talented monkey,” he jokingly told The Hollywood Reporter at the show’s Los Angeles premiere on Monday, “I’ll never work with that one again. Talk about sucking up all the oxygen on a set,...

“Deadpool & Wolverine” has quickly taken its place among the highest grossing R-rated movies of all time after spending less than a week in theaters.
The Marvel blockbuster just reached spot #19 on the list, surpassing iconic films like “Saving Private Ryan” and “The Hangover.” It even bumped “The Matrix” down to spot #25. Both of its predecessors “Deadpool” and “Deadpool 2” sit at the fourth and third spots.

Everything about Joker was unexpected. The way that it nodded to Scorsese classics like The King Of Comedy and Taxi Driver; that it went on to bag Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix at the Oscars; that it made over a billion dollars at the box office – all while riffing on Batman’s greatest foe. And so, when it became clear that Phoenix and filmmaker Todd Phillips were going to continue the story of Arthur Fleck, the question beckoned: how could you catch audiences off-guard all over again? The answer was to take a series of unexpected turns – notably, casting pop legend Lady Gaga as ‘Lee’, the Joker-verse’s incarnation of Harley Quinn, and pitching her into a music-fuelled romance with Phoenix’s Fleck. Make way for Joker: Folie À Deux.
The resulting wild brew made the prospect of a second film compelling to its leading man. “It’s the only...

A year after the pop culture phenomenon Barbenheimer, Margot Robbie’s Barbie still seems to be part of the cultural zeitgeist. The existential comedy broke multiple records upon its release in 2023 and was the highest-grossing film of 2023. It also gained a spot in the worldwide box office records list with its $1.446 billion box office collections.
However, its spot at the highest-grossing films of all time list is threatened by this year’s breakout success Inside Out 2. The Pixar film reportedly crossed the $1.4 billion mark and is only a few thousand dollars away from beating Barbie. It is also reportedly $10 million away from being the highest-grossing animated film of all time.

Joined by Travis Kelce and Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper was seen attending Taylor Swift’s 87th Eras Tour on May 12 at Paris’ La Defense Arena. Hadid, who was previously involved in a reported year-long relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio, and is currently dating Cooper, was seen having the time of her life at her friend’s concert and so was Kelce.
However, while on one hand, Hadid and Kelce seemed to be enjoying the concert to the fullest, like every Swiftie in the arena, things appeared a bit off with Cooper. Opposed to Hadid’s energetic dance, the Guardians star’s dance moves were a little off-beat and fans did take notice of it.

"The gods started this war, now it's time to fight."
Netflix has released an exciting - and fairly gruesome - first teaser for Zack Snyder's adult animated Norse mythology series, Twilight of the Gods, which is set to premiere on the streaming service on September 19.

Deadpool & Wolverine‘s Hugh Jackman is set to star in Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie and I was not prepared for the synopsis. Let’s get right to it.
Based on Leonie Swann’s international bestseller, the film follows George Hardy (Jackman), “a shepherd who loves his sheep and raises them only for their wool. Every night, he reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand, never suspecting that not only can they understand, but they argue for hours afterwards about whodunnit. When George is found dead under mysterious circumstances, the sheep realize at once that it was a murder and think they know everything about how to go about solving it. The local cop Tim Derry, on the other hand, has never solved a serious crime in his life, so the sheep conclude they will have to solve it themselves, even if it means...

Netflix unveiled first looks at a whole host of its upcoming animated shows and features during an event on Thursday, and Rebel Moon director Zack Snyder was on hand to introduce the first footage from his Norse Mythology series, Twilight of the Gods.
“I love mythology,” said the filmmaker. "On a scale like this, I feel like animation was the greatest way to tell the story.”
First announced way back in 2019, it's taken quite a while to find its way to our screens, but we recently learned that the show will finally premiere on Netflix this Fall.
The project has been described as "Anime-influenced," but judging by these clips, we'd say the animation style has more in common with the Academy Award-nominated Cartoon Saloon studio.
“When most people think about animation, they think about Saturday morning cartoons, or G-rated movies,” said the presentation’s host, Christopher Sean. “But animation is...

Memorial Day weekend is upon us, and the box office is looking grim. The “Mad Max” prequel “Furiosa” is on track to score the lowest No. 1 Memorial Day weekend in nearly three decades, since 1998’s “Casper,” with an estimated $31 million take. But traditionally, the holiday weekend is a big one for moviegoing – kids are out of school, adults have three days off and the summer movie season is ready to roll.
For that reason, it feels like a good time to look back at the highest-grossing Memorial Day weekend box office openings of all time, dating back to 1996. Now it’s important to note these are Memorial Day weekend openings not Memorial Day weekend box office champions – “The Day After Tomorrow” pulled in over $85 million when it opened in 2004, but the top film at the box office for the holiday weekend was holdover “Shrek 2.”

The bad times at the summer box office just keep coming this weekend, as George Miller's post-apocalyptic road epic "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" lines up a historic low for the Memorial Day weekend. After grossing $10.2 million on its opening day (including previews), "Furiosa" is on track for a dismal $31 million four-day weekend (per The Wrap), significantly below the $45.4 million three-day debut of "Mad Max: Fury Road" in 2015. The good news is that "Furiosa" is in a close battle with "The Garfield Movie" for the No. 1 spot. That's the next "Mad Max" spin-off right there! (Jon Arbuckle's Wasteland name would be Jizzboy the Gronk.)

The Hangover was a monumental success upon its release, which was lauded by critics and fans and launched Bradley Copper, Zach Galifianakis, and director Todd Phillips into the limelight. Moreover, it made a blast at the box office, racking in $469 million on a budget of $35 million, which meant a sequel was inevitable, and two years later, The Hangover Part II opened in theatres.
Much like its predecessor, the sequel became a huge box-office hit, becoming the highest-grossing entry in the trilogy, but unlike the first one, the second one hasn’t particularly aged well.

Dev Patel's directorial debut "Monkey Man" is due in theaters on April 5, and reviews so far have been largely positive. /Film's own Jacob Hall praised the film for its efficient brutality, keen at Patel's abilities to wallow in emotions as he is capably murdering foes. Patel plays a character known only as "Kid," who seeks to murder a cadre of local bad guys as revenge for the death of his mother. In so doing, he unwittingly becomes a legendary hero for the locals, all beset by the same cadre of bad guys.
"Monkey Man" has been compared to "John Wick" in both its action brutality and lean premise. Patel also co-wrote the screenplay, produced the film, and likely did the catering as well, given his devotion to the project. If nothing else, "Monkey Man" seems to be Patel's proof to studios that he can handle major action projects.

On a recent episode of ‘The New Yorker Radio Hour’ podcast, Cooper spoke to host David Remnick about his directorial efforts, including ‘A Star Is Born’ and ‘Maestro’, and pivoting to more dramatic roles, reports Variety.
Remnick then asked Cooper: “Are you done with fun? In other words, if another kinda fun comic role came along, it was three months of your life, it’s not ‘Hangover 5’ but something of a similar spirit.”
“Well, I would do ‘Hangover 5,’” Cooper responded. “It would be ‘Hangover 4’ first, but yea You would do that in a flash? Not just to pay the bills,” Remnick asked.
“I would probably do ‘Hangover 4’ in an instant,” Cooper said. “Just because I love Todd (Phillips), I love Zach (Galifianakis), I love Ed (Helms) so much, I probably would.

Although Bradley Cooper is taking on more serious roles as of late, the Maestro star is not opposed to revisiting his past role as Phil in The Hangover franchise.
The actor opened up about reprising his role in the Tod Phillips comedy that he starred in 2009 alongside Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Heather Graham, Justin Bartha, Ken Jeong and Jeffrey Tambor.
“I would probably do Hangover 4 in an instant,” Cooper said during an appearance on The New Yorker Radio Hour. “Just because I love Todd, I love Zach, I love Ed so much, I probably would.”
Despite Cooper not objecting to returning to The Hangover, he doesn’t think the director would be down for another sequel.
“I don’t think Todd is ever going to do that,” Cooper added.

Craig Mazin recently told the Los Angeles Times that the script for “Pirates of the Caribbean 6” is so weird he is surprised Disney actually bought it. Variety reported in summer 2020 that Disney was in early development on two “Pirates” movies: A reboot led by Margot Robbie and a sixth film in the original franchise written by Mazin and Ted Elliott, the latter of whom co-wrote the first four “Pirates” movies.
“We pitched it and thought there’s no way they’re buying it, it’s too weird,” Mazin said. “And they did! And then he wrote a fantastic script and the strike happened and everyone’s waiting around.”
The last “Pirates” movie, “Dead Men Tell No Tales,” opened in 2017. Robbie told Vanity Fair last November that her movie, written by “Birds of Prey” scribe Christina Hodson, had been dropped, adding, “We had an idea and we were developing it for a while,...

Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" just crossed a pretty major milestone at the box office as the film gets ready to enter its fourth weekend in theaters. The biopic about J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb, can now officially count itself as one of the top 10 highest-grossing R-rated movies in history. But this movie still has a lot of juice left to squeeze out of it, meaning Universal Pictures is only going to watch it climb higher and higher on the all-time charts from here on out.
According to The Numbers, "Oppenheimer" has pulled in $578.6 million worldwide up to this point, which includes $238.1 million domestically and $340.5 million internationally. That's enough to kick 2015's "Fifty Shades of Grey" ($570.7 million) out of the top 10 lifetime grosses for an R-rated movie (not adjusted for inflation).
Nolan's latest now sits behind "The Hangover Part II" ($586.7 million), which it will pass as soon as Friday.

‘Barbie’ Is a Box Office Triumph With $155 Million Opening; ‘Oppenheimer’ Scores $80.5 Million Start
Not since the opening weekend of “Avengers: Endgame” have movie theaters had a box office weekend with such booming business. Warner Bros.’ “Barbie” and Universal’s “Oppenheimer” are to thank, as they are the first films to both earn openings of over $80 million in the same weekend.
Overall, the two films, along with contributions from “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning” and “Sound of Freedom,” have sent overall weekend box office totals soaring to above $300 million in North America. It’s the fourth highest overall weekend ever seen in box office history, and the only weekends that top it are the opening weekends of “Avengers: Endgame,” “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

Sin City- one of the most popular places for stag nights and hen nights, is the setting for many Hollywood films. However, one of the most famous – and, quite frankly the funniest of all these movies is The Hangover. The film brings to life all the worst fears of those men heading to Vegas to celebrate their (or their friend’s) upcoming nuptials… and the fears of every wife (or wife-to-be) waving off their other halves for that final celebration. Let’s face it, sticking to online casinos seems to be a lot safer… right?
But where would the fun be in that? Here, we bring you all the funniest scenes of The Hangover series, that made us very glad they didn’t…

Fitness personality and television icon Jack Lalanne is getting the biopic treatment, both in nonfiction and narrative forms.
Mark Wahlberg and his Unrealistic Ideas banner will partner with Wonderfilm Media and Lalanne’s widow, Elaine, and the Lalanne family on a documentary feature and a narrative film about the fitness pioneer.
Before wellness was christened an industry and fitness deemed a lifestyle, Lalanne was an exercise and nutrition guru. After opening a gym in Oakland in the 1930s (often credited as the nation’s first fitness club), he began to evangelize the benefits of personal health, later hosting the fitness TV show The Jack Lalanne Show from 1951 to 1985. A longtime bodybuilder, Lalanne also became synonymous with his feats of strength, including, at 60 years old, swimming to Alcatraz while handcuffed.

Adam Sandler has just expanded his coterie of comedic filmmakers with Murder Mystery 2.
The new Netflix action comedy is a follow-up to the 2019 Kyle Newacheck-directed film, with this one counting Jeremy Garelick at the helm. Sandler and Jennifer Aniston reprise their roles as Nick and Audrey Spitz, now working as private detectives, who find themselves embroiled in a case that leads them to Paris after their friend, the Maharajah (Adeel Akhtar), is kidnapped at his own wedding. Mark Strong, Mélanie Laurent and Jodie Turner-Smith also star in the sequel that debuted in the top spot on the streamer’s English-films list.
Garelick directed such films as 2015’s The Wedding Ringer, an early starring vehicle for Kevin Hart, and 2020 teen comedy The Binge, but Murder Mystery 2 definitely includes his biggest action set pieces yet, which makes sense when a movie involves someone getting...

Dan Futterman, who wrote ‘Capote’ and ‘Foxcatcher’, is adapting the script. Jean Castelli, Alex Law and Mabel Cheung and Wells Tower wrote earlier versions of the screenplay, reports ‘Variety’.
Bruce Lee, who died in 1973 at the age of 32, had a brief but lasting presence in Hollywood as an actor, director and martial arts expert.
His films, including ‘Fist of Fury’, ‘Enter the Dragon’ and ‘The Way of the Dragon’, as well as the TV series ‘The Green Hornet’, popularised martial arts across the globe in the late 1960s and early ’70s.

Mason Lee, the son of famed filmmaker Ang Lee, will play Bruce Lee in a forthcoming film of the same name for Sony’s 3000 Pictures. Ang will direct the project from a script written by Dan Futterman. Futterman is taking over scripting duties after Jean Castelli, Alex Law, Mabel Cheung, and Wells Tower penned previous versions of the story.
It’s challenging to overestimate Lee’s astronomical impact on the martial arts film genre. Already a star in Asia, Bruce Lee’s Enter the Dragon catapulted his star into the stratosphere in the West. Had he lived beyond the age of 32, Lee would have achieved the success of actors like Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Donnie Yen, and more. Still, Lee is a household name despite his early passing, and few martial artists have risen to his level of notoriety since. Lee’s death was labeled “death by misadventure” by authorities,...

Martial arts legend Bruce Lee is getting the biopic treatment. Oscar-winner Ang Lee is set to direct a film about the late actor, simply titled "Bruce Lee," for Sony's 3000 Pictures. What's more, the filmmaker has actually tapped his own son, Mason Lee ("The Hangover Part II") to star as the Hollywood icon in the upcoming biopic, making it a high-profile family affair.
According to Deadline, Dan Futterman ("Foxcatcher") is currently working on the script, a script that has already passed through many hands up to this point. Lee, in addition to direction, will produce alongside the likes of Lawrence Grey, Shannon Lee, Ben Everard, and Brian Bell, with Elizabeth Gabler and Marisa Paiva overseeing the project for the studio. Ang Lee had this to say about it:
"Accepted as neither fully American nor fully Chinese, Bruce Lee was a bridge between East and West who introduced Chinese Kung Fu to the world,...

Following Life of Pi, released a decade ago this fall, Ang Lee dabbled in the transportive cinematic technical experiments Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk and Gemini Man that, unfortunately, failed to connect with audiences. The director is now set to return with a film that should hopefully garner some widespread attention.
Deadline reports he will direct Bruce Lee, a biopic of the legendary martial artist and actor, who will be played by Ang Lee’s own son Mason Lee. Set up at Sony Pictures and currently being scripted by Dan Futterman.
Ang Lee is no stranger to the world of martial arts with his record-breaking Oscar-winner Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. For quite some time he tried to get his 3D Muhammad Ali fight film off the ground, but it never saw the light of day, so we’ll be curious to see if any technology or planning developed for...

Law on taxing performers has been the subject of a long campaign.
Foreign actors will soon be exempt from taxation for work in Thailand following a move by the government to boost international production in the country.
The Thai cabinet passed the law on Tuesday (June 22) with the new measure valid for five years and expected to come into effect within the next three months.
All employees in Thailand are subject to a withholding tax, which varies by occupation and nationality: 5 for Thai performers and 10 for foreign performers. The tax is based on where the work is performed, not where they are paid.

Thailand boosted its film incentive scheme on Tuesday by approving a tax exemption for all foreign actors who work on movies or television productions in the country. The new measure will remain in effect for a period of at least five years.
Thailand has operated an incentive scheme since 2017 to lure international productions to shoot in the country. The existing measures include a cash rebate of 15-20 percent on all in-country production spending, up to a maximum of 75 million baht (about 2.1 million at current exchange rates). But foreign actors previously were required to pay tax to Thailand from their earnings during their work in country, in addition to whatever tax obligations they might have in their home country (the United States requires its citizens to pay tax regardless of wherever they work and reside in the world). The new exemption is expected to...
