Mezzo-soprano Abigail Wright, a professional opera singer more than accustomed to being on stage, recalls a humorous yet deceptively prickly exchange with her mother regarding her choice to appears in the 'Tableau', singing completely nude so showing every corner of her body (including her fully shaved vulva) in front of hundreds of people: "You know, my mother is having a lovely time with the nudity. I love my mother's first response: 'Well just be careful.' 'Be careful of what?' It's a slippery slope. 'What?' 'Well I don't wanna hear about you doing porn!' You know, as if the two were related."
Abigail Wright recalled how she accepted to sing in the nude during audition upon Sarah Small's request: "Interviewing with a talented male model, I had a chance to pose with him clothed while he contorted himself in the nude... My partner dressed, and we continued to interview as Sarah and Adam discovered some extra time for our process. I repeated a Hungarian folk melody in mostly chest voice and then sang an entire Bach recitative and aria with no accompaniment. "You shouldn't have sung opera to me. Now I want to see you nude," mentioned Sarah, as I took a short second to decide that I would in fact participate nude for the sake of such a project in which I could believe and find purpose. Feeling a bit nervous as I removed my fabric barriers, I talked and laughed to compensate before standing before creator, director, and interviewee to sing the Habanera from Bizet's Carmen. I sang fairly well, and I have to say that this certainly trumps every audition I've ever given in terms of vulnerability; yet, the experience gave me a feeling of life and enjoyment that both awakened and stunned me simultaneously."
