Indie? (spoiler)

Warning: Spoilers
So we opted to see this one Saturday Night and although formulaic there was a surprising experience. The characters were predictable for this genre and the sound track had great moments - could have skipped the High Fidelity Homage. The Christian inserts were interesting and definitely unexpected and play, I think, nicely juxtaposed to the Eastern themes - my guess is they bug more than uplift.

Zach (Jeffery Frost) had some great scenes and was enjoyable as was Jolene (Anne Griffin). The surprising character portrayal of Derek (Trevor Zacharias) was remarkable - you really want to hate this guy - good job.

Overall - not a waste of admission - but probably not Sundance. Suggest go and expect a low budget entertaining show.

Boring Hipster Movie
TacoLover695 February 2011
So its a Friday night and my girl (friend) wants to see a movie. I want to go see 127 Hours or The King's Speech but she wants to see Little Fockers. After much arguing we decide upon this movie which we have never heard of. Yeah so pretty much this movie sucked. I was bored out of my mind and so was my girl. The main character made me feel very uncomfortable. The camera work in this film is awful and super annoying. The screenplay is weak and has much of the same dialog you would see from a Michael Cera movie.Lots of generic "indie" stuff and what not. This comes from a guy who enjoyed Juno. The only good thing I can say about this movie is that the chick was hot and a good actress. I should have just given in and saw Little Fockers.

Tries too hard

Title says it all. I honestly wanted to like this movie, but every time I'd start to be interested, it would fall flat and completely disappoint me. Riddled with clichés, it offers nothing new, and desperately tries to be a witty/quirky story with witty/quirky characters.

This film was obviously coined by some old geezer trying to reconnect with today's youth; but is just making himself look ridiculous and out of touch in the process.

If you're on the fence with this one, save yourself the money (or bandwidth if you're downloading) and see something else.

A Decent Movie With An Awesome Soundtrack
JaredRoySnyder26 October 2011
Campus Radio is an indie movie written and directed by Canadian filmmaker Aaron James Sorensen. I generally like movies that have music as a major theme in the movie, and this one is no exception. Its about a struggling band manager/ college radio DJ who is trying to piece his life together while getting his band, Meathouse, into the limelight. The acting in the movie is really believable and as mentioned the soundtrack is very well used throughout the entire movie. I don't think there is a scene without at least a little bit of music in it. Overall a decent movie with some really funny parts. Also loved the Led Zeppelin and Sega Genisis references! A little Earthworm Jim anyone? 6 outta 10

Independent film in central Texas

Warning: Spoilers
Campus Radio, director Aaron James Sorensen's second film. Now i'd like to dive right in on what i felt. The movie's pace seems to be pretty slow for the most part. It wasn't til the last 20 minutes did it begin to really pick up. I believe the ending should've ended when Xavier played Tommy's song on the radio. It would've been a pretty powerful ending instead of dragging on to the wedding part afterwards, though i think the scenes after "69 days later" should've been during the credits, edited a little quicker and off to the side while the credits rolled. The scenes with the uncle and his *SPOILER ALERT* death should've probably been cut out. It didn't really add much to the story, and it kinda dragged the movie. I think with doing that it could've blossomed more on Xavier's relationship with Tommy, Jolene and the band, and Zach and Dava. To me the key scenes are when Xavier is with Jolene, there was something sweet between them. Also him with Tommy, and Zach and Dava's relationship. The soundtrack was good, and the scene when Tommy played her song to Xavier was great and if the movie wanted to go more in the direction of dramatic territory, like when Xavier confronts the band after finding out he was fired, would've been fine and added more to the experience. You actually kinda felt bad for him. All in all with the right cuts and direction in this film, i believe it could be a great little indie with heart in the vein of Wes Anderson's "Rushmore."

Cool movie with an incredible cast of actors and great directing.
suzynicks9411 February 2011
This movie was recommended to us by our son and his band and we weren't sure whether they loved it so much because it was about a band or because it was as excellent as they said...but after their second night of seeing it we decided to go and we took our grandson with us. Three generations of our family all loved this movie... the cast is incredible...and the relationships in the movie are real and something you can relate to. The movie's engaging and fun to watch-no slow moments- and there's a message in it but it's not coined or sappy or shoved down your throat. We each came out happy and with our own interpretations. Definitely a two thumbs up movie!
