2nd review , first one was too mature to be rated properly .

Warning: Spoilers
This episode could have better , seemed that Bobby was directing it, stick to making great dinners and saving people's lives. Buck needs to be loved by a good woman , a understanding newsperson , who looks beautiful in a red dress. The beginning was typical of 911 something extreme happens , but was edited by Bobby. Stewardess jumps off plane with champagne bottle only to have the cork penetrate one of the baggage handlers and here is the kicker , this guy back in season 3 got stuck in the fuselage , talk about changing your profession. Another 27 minutes or boring stuff and then the end . Bobby stop directing you are making viewers turn to paint dripping off walls on the Home network.

big no for me

I don't understand the need to rush this thing with eddie and ana when they clearly have no chemistry and we've seen time and time again (especially in this episode) that she isn't the right person for eddie and that someone else is already filling that spot for christopher too. it's not about seeing things that aren't there anymore because they are there, in plain sight for everybody to notice. everyone was so out of character, eddie most of all. and buck using taylor to avoid the awkwardness with veronica and albert?? what was that all about?? 9-1-1 is one of my favourite shows ever but this episode was extremely disappointing and i'm sad they decided to leave us for six weeks with THIS.

Snoozefest

Warning: Spoilers
At first I couldn't understand what viewers were thinking trying to ship Eddie and Buck.. two straight guys but the women they are trying to force down our throats prove they would definitely have more chemistry as a couple than with these girls. I mean who tests these women? Make us believe it.

Just why?

Warning: Spoilers
Worst episode of the series to date. I'm not sure what the writers were thinking with this. Eddie was so out of character the entire time, completely disregarding his child's feelings almost the entire episode. Buck and Taylor would be better off as friends, and Eddie and Ana have absolutely no chemistry. The bright side is that things can only get better after this trainwreck. Really disappointed.

Warning: Spoilers
I really love 911, because they make you care about all of their characters, but who the hell wrote Eddie Diaz in todays episode so totally out of character?

Did they really made him introduce his kinda girlfriend to his kid after two dates in the middle of a pandemic while he hid Shannon (his wife) until Christopher asked her for Christmas, and now he's introducing Ana after a whole second? Also after telling Bobby not two episodes ago that he's not ready? Not to mention he didn't realize his kid was gone? Totally ooc for Eddie.

Whatever i guess the showrunners really must not like fans asking (begging) for a Eddie and Buck romance, otherwise i have no idea why they keep forcing this terrible Ana/Eddie storyline, where anyone with two eyes can see how zero chemistry they have. I already have nightmares about her calling him Edmundo. So my hope for the second part of the season is that her character gets written out. I just don't feel any connection between her and Eddie and to be honest i want Season 3 Eddie back.

I also miss the Bobby and Athena momens. Is it just me or are we seeing less Bobby this season?

Thankfully Buck at least saved this episode for me a little bit. You just gotta love this guy and he really deserves some happiness.

Seriously, who wrote this?
sandovalpsandrap9 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Parts of this episode (important character parts) seemed to be written by someone who's never seen an episode of 911. Mediocre for a 911 episode, even worse for a winter finale.

Spoilers

Ana and Eddie have zero chemistry, the decision to have a fake sex scene at the beginning was not only uncomfortable but not something that belongs in this series. Extremely disappointed to find out the actress they casted is not latinx which completely nulls whatever crumbs of latinx representation they think they're adding with her character. Having a single parent disregard his child's feelings about them dating again is so wrong, especially when the child's reaction is so strong as to runaway from home and don't even get me started on eddie wanting to introduce Chris to someone when they've been together just a few weeks (something that anyone who's dealt with children at all knows would not be a good idea).

If this is the way they're going to write my favorite character, I'm not sure I want to continue watching this show.

Total disappointment
ma_tgc11 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I've been following this show since day one and this was definitely the worst winter finale I've ever watched so far. Maybe even the worst episode...

Emergencies were nothing but boring, end of the episode was already revealed on trailer so even that wasn't a surprise. Felt like a filler episode you can watch on any average show which I would've settled for it, if 9-1-1 wasn't one of the most popular scripted shows right now.

Eddie/Ana relationship is nothing but stale. There is zero chemistry there to begin with. But even if there was, Eddie's reaction to Christopher's meltdown, bringing Ana to his home to meet Chris was definitely out of character. We're talking about the same man who didn't let Shannon see Chris for more than two months until he was sure it was the best for him. Now he doesn't even seem bothered by Chris's reaction, he is bringing a woman to their home after going out just two dates with her and we don't even see him have an actual conversation with Chris about it? Yeah, nobody's buying that. Also those "teacher-student" innuendos... Beyond disturbing and cringy. I don't know what writers are trying to prove there, but it's definitely not working. Don't let me even start about her ableist line on season 3.

Buck/Taylor scenes were bearable at most. Again, I'm not sure why they are so desperate to bring these random guest characters back as potential love interests, considering they know very well how fans reacted to them before. Clearly popular demands by fans are only reflected on the show when they're not coming from lgbtq+ viewers. For some reason(!).

Truly Disappointing Writing
hlamiga30 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I made an account just to be able to write this review because it was so disheartening to see one of my all-time favorite shows have such a poorly-written episode. The actors themselves and the soundtrack were great as usual; however, it was so clear that the person who had written this episode had no clue who these characters are fundamentally (with eddie's character development really bearing the brunt of this error).

Were there positives? Sure. The scene with Maddie and Athena was very, very sweet as well as the scene with Maddie and Chim. But it was so difficult to overlook the weak emergencies and the fact that a CHILD (with mobility issues!) somehow took an uber by himself?? On top of that, Eddie -- who has consistently placed his son's needs first -- is somehow more focused on this lukewarm-relationship with a woman whose only character trait seems to be that she's an English teacher (turned vice principal)? Which begs the question why they were even doing MATH homework? It was all very inconsistent.

I typically don't like procedural shows, but 911 had been an exception. Whatever happened in 4x08 in the writers' room needs to be corrected because the cast and the team surrounding the show are too phenomenal to be let down by their own scripts.

Huge 911 fan but Season 4 becomes more and more of a disappointment
Jocelyn7210 March 2021
...and now they're even trying to force the heart and soul of this show, which is the Eddie and Buck relationship apart by putting them together with other people?

No thanks, i don't want that. Give us our Buckley/Diaz family back!

So i am really not looking forward the the second part of this season.

Good Episode but not for a winter's finale
jimmyishere-377489 March 2021
The episode was pretty average. No action, no mystery, only (poor) storyline progression and jokes. The cliffhanger was interesting but still it's not enough for a winter's finale.

The writers must realise that 9-1-1 ain't a happy family "saga" show

Lame episode
fabfrenchy-2534212 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The opening seemed like a really long setup just for 20 seconds of pulling the cork from the guy's neck. The "standoff" was preposterous. A jackass waving a gun around with people right below him & no police perimeter? They could've taken him down with a tranquilizer dart & been done with it in 10 minutes. If it was so easy to distribute those thousands of vaccines, why were they just chillin in the freezer? I don't care about Albert & the bitchy girl. I don't care about the dumbass news reporter who thinks it's fine to stand directly under someone waving a gun. I don't care about Eddie dating the math troll. I don't know much about Uber, but do they really take unaccompanied children as passengers? I doubt it. This show is becoming really frustrating to watch. And it will be until Buck & Eddie get married and raise Christopher as a couple.

Very poor
moonlight_strand9 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
For a mid season finale, this was one of the worst out of the whole show. The mid season finale for Season 2 of 9-1-1: Lone Star was so excellent compared to this one it's laughable.

Personally I love 9-1-1 more than the spin-off but they dropped the ball with this episode.

I personally place most, if not all, of the blame on the new writer for this episode, Bob Goodman.

The emergencies were weak, first of all and weren't entirely exciting. Constant time jumps throughout the episode was mind numbing, but even that wasn't the biggest of problems.

Also, I don't really need to explain how boring Eddie and Ana's relationship is because even an average viewer can see that they were forced together for the sake of Eddie having a love interest. Not to mention they're lack of chemistry.

My main problem was Taylor's reintroduction to the show. Her last appearance was a negative one as she tried to ruin the image of the 118. Though Buck was hooking up with her at the time, he stopped immediately knowing that she tried to ruin the 118, who is one of the most important things to him I'll add. The writers bringing her back without addressing this key fact of Taylor being a snake is simply bad writing. Which is my prime problem with Taylor's character from a writing perspective.

In addition, Taylor overall is just not it. She doesn't have much flavor or personality to her character and all we see from her is that she's shady, and that she's a news reporter. And her news reports constantly being in the story is such an eye rolling moment. Like we really don't need a news report for an emergency that we literally see on screen when the 118 arrives, and when an emergency call comes in to the dispatch center. A news report is not only overkill, but gets dull very fast.

I sincerely hope that this writer never writes for the show ever again after this season because he dropped the ball for what was supposed to be a good mid season finale. And I'm glad that many can see that it was really plain and dull.

So when are we finally getting our Buck and Eddie romance?
e_fischer11 March 2021
I'm really disappointed that the showrunners decided that now is the time to split up the best relationship of this show (besides Buck and Chris and Bobby and Athena) and give them some annoying love interests. Holy smoke that teacher is so damn awful her only personality is MATHS and that she is looking good. How sad is that and i really never want to think or watch that dating scene ever again. It gave me the absolute creeps.

Anyways i like to point out that while i love the show, it's very entertaining, my main reason for coming back watching each week is Buck and Eddie and their special relationship. I wanna see more of it, wanna see it deepen and so on. It is intriguing and i want more of them.

And now the showrunners are telling me nah you won't get what you want after nearly two years getting invested in their storyline? I am just so disappointed. The winter finale couldn't have had ended any worse.

Loss of time

This series has been consistently active and interesting. Until this episode. The only thing close to a spoiler is to say you will spend more time in front of the refrigerator than the TV.

Bad
bobharler21 June 2021
This is one of the worst episodes of 9-1-1. Eddie and Buck's girlfriends are boring and the show can go without them. Just bad.
