The Candid Candidate (1937) is the first Betty Boop cartoon to be featured on "Toon In with Me", as well as the first non-Popeye cartoon from Paramount/Fleischer Studios to make it onto the show. Other Fleischer Betty Boop cartoons had already appeared on MeTV's Saturday morning "Popeye & Pals" cartoon block. The cartoon is presented in an unrestored U.M.&M. television print.
Toony suggests he be called "FLOTUS" - "Fish Leader Of The United States".
At the time of this episode's broadcast, neither Popeye for President (1956) nor A Fractured Leghorn (1950) had been released on an authorized DVD or Blu-ray by Warner Bros. The authorized restorations of the Popeye cartoons by King Features and Warner Bros. had not yet yielded any releases of the 1950s cartoons, though many had been available on public domain discs. "A Fractured Leghorn" had not appeared in any Looney Tunes DVD sets, but was available in a restored print on the HBO Max streaming service.
