This 1/2 hour documentary follows five first-time Oscar nominees as they navigate life in the days and weeks leading up to the 2009 Academy Awards. Mike Elizalde and Thom Floutz, nominated for Achievement in Makeup for "Hellboy 2, The Golden Army" - are finally getting the ultimate recognition after 20 years of making movie magic. Margaret Hyde, nominated for Best Documentary Short for "The Witness: From the Balcony of Room 306" a first-person account of the assasination of Martin Luther King, Jr., - has devoted her life to giving back and is incredibly honored to be nominated for the first film she's ever produced. Tia Lessin & Carl Deal, two longtime documentary filmmakers, made a film out of one of the worst tragedies ever in the U.S., and in doing so told a story about hurricane Katrina that needed to be heard. For all five this was their first journey to the Oscars...their personal stories as important as the films that got them there.
