To contrary opinion i fully enjoyed this episode
bakepies4 December 2021
I like well played emotions and here are plenty of it. Its annoying to know so little about the aliens and some actions seem irrational. Despite all that this episode had some intriguing drama, action and feeling. I enjoyed it a lot. Btw the swimming in space was not meant to be real. Its imaginative so nothing to get angry about.

Best One Yet
the_nephilim715 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This was by far the best episode yet. The show certainly got off to a very rocky start but has improved a lot but some of the dialogue is really clunky. Anyway, she's not swimming in space....did you see any stars when she was "swimming?" NO! She's in the alien ship. If you'll recall, she was blown out into space and she didn't have a space suit on and the only way she could have survived is by the aliens taking her into their ship.

Too emotional
mauriciowsmith-902-9676399 December 2021
Why do the main characters tend to paralyse? Too many scenes with them just feeling emotions and staring when an action is needed. It's awful! Well, the rest of the plotline is very good.

you can swim in space
Invalid-User-Id3 December 2021
I've learned a new thing today. Apparently, to move around in space, you can just swim like back down on Earth... Somebody should tell all international space agencies, because they were all doing it wrong until now.

That thing that happened in space......
Pimilli7 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Swimming In Space.....Swimming....in...the vacuum of space...This show is a textbook of how not to construct a show. This show is so incredibly badly written. It's farce. It's pure farce.

Really? Even more torpid? This keeps getting worse and worse
random-707783 December 2021
"Full of stars" or "full of nonsense?"

Firstly there would be an army of NSA cryptologists, using the most advanced and fastest computers, plus perhaps a number of anthropologists to think outside the box, attempting to decrypt the alien language, not some girlfriend of a Japanese astronaut.

I mean yes, we suspend our disbelief on the root concept of an alien invasion -- but why is this show also asking us to suspend disbelief on everything else? Essentially all the situations are ridiculous, and the actions of the characters even more so.

I have had it with a "SEAL" who doesn't know how to hold a firearm, spray and prays with limited ammo, and who last week, flies to London and orders around the UK military like they are his btch. And who now continues to act utterly irrationally.

And please, tonight's soap opera with the Maliks and the "Angela"/ "Aneesha" "trick" make you wish the aliens would just kill and eat them already.

Why does it feel like non of the plot threads matter or are actually reasonable connected.
zachcreaghcoen3 December 2021
Firstly, I think the space suit was in her mind I think she's probably been induced into a dream like state and is being used by the alien (unsuccessfully it seems) because you can't "swim" through space like that. This show is a prime example of were show don't tell would be fantastic. We keep hearing about the scale of this invasion but we haven't seen anything to back this up. I have no concept of what is actually going on because all I have to base my imagination off of is a couple broadcasts and generals telling me how bad it is. That's not how do this kind of story. Also we get another episode so this opinion might change but if the nuke works and it's shut down the alien hive mind. What is the point of every other story thread. It seams like they wanted to connect the Japan and London story's but having Caspar should wajo. Doesn't connect them. Why do they Japanese delegates even tolerate this little brat who can't bare for things to not go her way. She is so unlikeable and stereotypical. The only way I could summarise this show is confused and boing.

Full of something other than stars
DrMarazanvose3 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Once again we are subjected to non-sensical events to move the plot forward. Painfully slow scenes that somehow make them more meaningful?

Anyone feel Mr Malik's self sacrifice redeemed him? - or just thankful that the useless, adulterous tool is finally gone? Although, the way this whole garbage has been going, it wouldn't surprise me if the opening scene of the next episode revealed him to have black belt martial art capabilities - turning the tables on the fake soldier cos the plot requires him to survive.

The only actor coming out of this trainwreck with any credibility plays Mitsuki.

Watching this show has become an absolute must for sheer comedic value. I am staggered that someone thought it was worth putting into production.

As for the reviews giving it 10/10 and saying how brilliant it is - how to spot a fake review 101. Invest in decent writers and you wouldn't need to skew the audience reaction.

From bad to worse, to awful, to resignation.
PlutoZoo5 December 2021
Having written some reviews about previous episodes, it has become a kind of duty to keep reviewing if only to combat those early reviews that criticised anything negative, saying it was a slow burn and they liked a build-up etc. Etc.. Well how's 9 episodes out of 10 as a build up? ... with several repeated scenes of attempted contact with a lost love aboard the JASA space station. I mean, how many episodes did we need devoted to that? Where's the story, where's the plot development?

It has confirmed it's predicament to me now as a series about practically nothing, a time filler, a hilarious(sarcasm) hiatus, a boring attempt at a woke people pleaser which isn't pleasing, isn't well made, and is most of all, terminally disappointing.

I feel sorry for the cast, who had to contend, as the audience did, with excitement and anticipation at this shiny expectation from Apple TV only to find out it becomes a hollow, lamentable mess, but in painfully slow, slow, slow doses.

Stupidly sad & intollerably bad attempt at sci-fi
gareth-754424 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
To think of the arrogance of writers over the decades to "better" the original "War of the Worlds" story & failing with every attempt as they have with this monstrosity "Invasion", at least in speilberg's movie version they kept the very thing that added the dynamic of tension & action, the Tripods, cutting a swathe through city's & countrysides decimating the human population, a striking & terrifying image, instead "invasion" gives us Kirby - like spores that seem to have no intelligence, this is the alien threat that's suppose to be super intelligent & has mastered intergalaactic space flight, absolute nonsense, add to that the nonsense storylines of some of the worse crafted characters in any TV show.

Each episode appears to have different writers, attempting to out do each other & ignoring the previous writers thread, the pointless American soldier that does nothing but complain, the disrespectful Japanese girl who only cares about her girlfriend & is oblivious to a so called worldwide invasion, the Iranian-American family that hate each other but have managed to find a "magical" object that can kill something alien & there's the very very pointless British school children that have been whittled down to just two that use dialogue no British person has ever used & the boy has a connection with the Aliens that seems to pose them a threat, this is probably some of the most idiotic storytelling ever.

This show is nothing more than tedious melodrama, it seems to be very poorly thought out with the least creative process where the aliens are concerned, for the most part the only evidence of an alien invasion is silly dialogue from a random character.

Very poor & very very boring drivel.

Worst episode so far.
jurabiker4 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Very very slow pace. Laughable scenes like swimming in the space or overturning heavy truck with single shot to the tire. I'm disappointed with the incoherent quality of all episodes.

More stuff happening for no apparent reason
sondermeer4 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is full of more stuff that seems to have no reason - and I'm not even talking about the aliens.

Who is, and why are they, hunting the doc and her family? Although the wife and kids could hear the husband scream, no one heard the kids scream. No explanation. Why are the few JASA scientists and bosses who seem to be interested in what's going on with their spaceship and crew listening to and taking commands from a love-struck former employee? Completely nonsensical. What's with the random kid who draws dark pictures and has epileptic fits? How is he talking to (controlling?) the aliens and why are they taking any notice of him? What about the US soldier who keeps shooting at the aliens when he surely knows by now that bullets have zero effect? Was it the US Space Farce nuking they don't know what just because they can, no discussion? Nothing new there. And finally, why did they have to drag this whole episode on and on and on ... I got so bored.

Let's hope that the final episode at least gives us a proper ending and not just a frigging cliffhanger and a promise.

Although it started off well enough, I don't think I could sit through another season of this show if it's going to be more of the same.

Watch out for the spiky balls!
fatewemake6 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Those spiky balls roll around and send a spike through when you are close enough. Except if you are a boy who can share his mind with the alien. If that happens then the aliens stop moving completely for hours and then plops down on the floor dead. They should call this episode spiky balls vs the emo kid's brain.

INCREDIBLE!
TheReview22century3 December 2021
This is not an action series. I think it is the most realistic series I have ever made on this theme. It is incredible to see the chaos that would be created in our society, everything would be out of control. As the producer himself said, this season could be called "the arrival", while in a hypothetical second and third season they will focus more on the aliens. Did you want the usual storyline where aliens come in, put a virus on their computer and win? That's why I argue that this series is really realistic, the aliens have arrived but we still don't know anything, we can't make contact, we don't know why; this is real drama, and this is how if we were invaded by an alien race with bad intentions it would turn out. I hope the renewal for a second season from Apple arrives as soon as possible, and I invite you to re-evaluate the series and try to identify with the characters. For heaven's sake, tastes are tastes, but there is no reason to evaluate 1 star out of 10 this series! You may not like it but voting 1 out of 10 means spitting in the face of the work these guys have done!

3 stars only because of Bowie
brianmccullom18 December 2021
Otherwise a 1. I can't believe I'm still watching this show. Classic sunk cost fallacy, hoping it will get good even though its almost over.

Aliens capable of interstellar travel but can't track and avoid or destroy a single object launched from the surface. Nuke it, instant win! Sure, why not. Might as well have just went with the "upload a virus" tactic .

Also, I'd like to see the orbital path that provides for line of sight to the ground in London, Eastern US, and Japan all at once, and I'm sure the guys at StarLink would like to even more.

Really weak episode
jimmyringkvist4 December 2021
Starts with swimming in space (although it could be a vision or a manifestation).

One of the shows few strong points at times are the actors and their stories, this episode lacks any connection to anything.

Just a jumble of stories that could been told in 10 mins or so, not really suspenseful or any new stakes on the line. Weird choices all over.

So bad ! Where the space suit came from ?
alexbalak3 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This show is so bad !

The acting is the worst I've seen in a mainstream show.

It's like very low budget acting in a show with big budget.

Where the space girl get a space suit ? She had none when the station exploded !

If the writers cant follow they own logic or story who can ?

Who the heck made this ?

This show is the worst scifi show I ever saw !

No logic or continuity.

And it's so boring.

Cancel Invasion !

What happened to the Subtitles when in Japan episode 9
ncatapano4 December 2021
I don't know what the logic was but the subtitles when the Japanese was happening stopped half way through episode 9. Why?

I do appreciate this show though. I enjoy the actors and the suspense. I look forward to it each week. I am hopeful to get some answers but not banking on anything. All in all solid show, but you can't just drop the subtitles. Imagine if Squid Game did that.

I can't anymore. This show is so poorly acted/written/directed. My doctor told me it's bad for my health. I'm gonna listen to him. What an absolute dumpster fire of a show.
