When the film was launched, Actor Sanjay Khan's daughter Farah Khan was to produce the film with Ad filmmaker Prahlad Kakkar directing it. At this point Umesh Shukla was the script writer. The film was titled " Flop". Due to some major problems, Farah backed out of the film, taking with her Prahlad. Zayed Khan was playing Sonu Sood's role when it was launched It was to be his home production film. When Farah left the film , Zayed still hung on waiting for new producer's. When the first advertisement for the film came out in paper, Zayed Khan was furious. UTV had given Kunal Khemu more preference and billed him higher then Zayed in the credits. Zayed decided to leave the film. UTV promised him it was a mistake and they would fix it, but by then he had already made up his mind.
Debut film of Umesh Shukla.
Inspired by Mel Brooks' comic classic THE PRODUCERS(1967).
The fake production company launched by Kunal Khemu and Paresh Rawal in the film is titled Charshubishi Films Ltd. While the name is an obvious pun on the Japanese global automobile giant Mitsubishi Corporation, the numerics of the name imply as Char(meaning 4), shu(or Sau, meaning 100) and bishi(or beesi, meaning 20), compiled figure being Char Sau Bees(420), which in Indian culture is a frequent reference to fraud and scam.
