What makes someone vulnerable enough to fall victim to a cult and how deep into it do you have to be to commit heinous and deadly acts in the cult’s name? The scripted true crime series based on Jonas Bonnier’s novel, The Congregation explores the real-life Christian cult in Knutby Sweden where a young woman falls into the grip of a cult in the rural town.
Springboarding off of the HBO documentary, Pray, Obey, Kill, The Congregation dives even deeper as it explores what draws someone into a cult, and how hard it is for them to leave even once they’ve seen the darker side of the group.

Twisted, out there, and definitely disturbing only begin to describe the occurrence that took place in Knutby Village back in the early 2000s, especially since the occurrence feels so convoluted and hard to decipher in the trailer. But anything that tends to involve murder, sex, and religion tends to get complicated very quickly and has a huge chance to turn deadly if things are allowed to continue. That appears to be the case here since everything that was just mentioned was in place and was allowed to play out in a grisly series of events that is bound to shock

"It sounds so crazy now." HBO has revealed an official trailer for a mysterious, compelling new true crime doc series titled Pray, Obey, Kill. Yeah this one joins the ranks of many other religious cult / crazy sect stories before it. On a cold night in January 2004, gunshots rang out across the remote Swedish village, Knutby, home to a small, tight-knit Pentecostal congregation, leaving a young woman murdered in her bed. Attention soon turned towards the community – the victim's husband, also the sect’s pastor, the victim's 26-year-old nanny, and the sect's leader known as "The Bride of Christ." The case gained instant international notoriety when the nanny confessed within days, claiming she was told to commit the acts through a series of text messages from God. What soon emerged, however, was a wild tale of a scandalous love triangle and details of another suspicious death that had occurred years before.
