Chip....the hair!!!!
denise-8815210 February 2022
First: Chip....cut that mop called hair. You're an attractive man.....long hair makes you look silly and trying to hard to be cool

second: sorry, Chip, am on you this time. Your humor is silly, often times. Not sure who oversees that on set, but needs to rein you back.

Third: Love you , Jo, however sometimes you're TOO serious.... Lighten up a little.

Not interested in a cooking show
mikelewis-6816711 July 2022
As much as I like Chip and Jo I am tired of seeing reruns. Cooking shows are on the food channel and that's a good place for them. I thought Magnolia would improve this channel but I like DIY better.

When I saw the name change...
michaelbondsr16 March 2022
DIH would have been a better name, magnolia doesn't say "do it herself" .

The viewership amazes me but it's new, and the Jan 5, 2022 opening Fixer Upper had 3M viewers, Where Barnwood Builders first show had 3.6M viewers. Thankfully it is still being scheduled, but not for long probably because its not a cooking or house wrecking show, it is reality! A cooking or hit a wall with your body show can be good TV but never really used in the real world. So reality? No! It is not!

The change of names was a shock but I dont think the shock is over yet, soon what we loved about DIY will be gone. But we will be better cooks and worse house rehab people.

What's going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing but Nothing
valeriacoffee19 February 2022
This is the worst station on television if I wanted to look at cooking shows or country western singing I would turn to them I want to see housing shows not this nonsense, you are good with decorating stick with that and grow your shows on decorating or just leave things alone you are not getting people to watch this network you are getting people to run away from your network l was all for your new network until nothing good was happening, so I'm backing away and just sticking with HGTV cause you're not bringing anything new and exciting to the table.

Delicious Recipes// Relatable Host
guitar_girl9313 March 2021
I own both of her cookbooks and have made a bunch of her recipes and loved them! This show is great for fans of her cookbook. Now you can see the recipes in action and cook along with her!

I love that this show is full of real recipes, things people would actually make and enjoy in there everyday life. There's a lot of very common comfort food recipes that we've all had in some point in our lives, but maybe never knew how to make.

She's definitely awkward and laughable at times, but I think it endearing. She not perfect, she's a real person and it's nice to finally watch a cooking show that shows that. Most the ones you see now a days (ex. Pioneer woman) are so staged and 'perfect', whereas Johanna seems a lot more relatable.

Definitely excited to see more!!

Painful to watch
emimovie22 August 2021
I like Jo. Used to watch Fixer Upper religiously. This was a new venture and I get trying to branch out and attempt new avenues so you dont become bored but this... is not a good combo. I understand theres a settling period when changing work but she seemed out of place/ uncomfortable from the get go. The recipes seemed unfamiliar to her almost like there was need to do a run through at least before turning on the cameras. Energy seemed very off and I personally had a hard time watching more than a few episodes because it made me itchy. This isn't to say I wouldn't try to rewatch a later season sometime in the future but I'm not sure how this show as it is can get comfortable and make it that far in the future. The shows' crew doesn't even seem to enjoy what they're making.

Relaxing to watch
moffittswhey29 July 2021
I watch on Discovery+, so I pay for the channel. I watch a lot of the shows on this channel. I find her relaxing and fun to watch. My only issue is that many, not all, of the recipes have higher cost ingredients that so many folks can't fit into the budget these days. Not a cooking show for the family budget. Example is the guyere cheese she uses a lot. I constantly have to Google substitute products and guyere cheese doesn't have a good one. But I watch it more for relaxing entertainment anyway.

OK, not perfect
ruiz_bowie1 May 2021
But it is such a pleasant time to spend with these people. They are fun and friendly. Joanna makes the experience enjoyable. It is almost like hanging out with her in her family house. And the little bits of seeing family members, how things are pronounced, the including of the crew around her ... it all adds up to a pleasant show. Relaxed and fun. I've learned a few trucks in the process too!!

Ruined a good thing.
rick-8109620 January 2022
Now we have another cooking show network. I love Jo's design work, but her cooking skills are non existent. Now we have a secret kitchen? What happened to a network dedicated to construction work? Apparently this is another case of amateurs taking over what was a great viewing venue. Gotta go find another avenue to gain ideas.

Keeping it real
natashak-130255 February 2022
This is what real cooking in the kitchen looks like!! Who hasn't messed up hollandaise sauce? Or dropped a lemon on the floor? She's all about comfort foods and using real ingredients! Can't go wrong!

In Over Their Heads
georgiad-3700319 December 2021
Holy rollers Chip and Joanna unfortunately branch out to take over the DIY Network + add the most boring cooking show on the planet. Not Good, Not Good At All!!! I believe it's time for the holier than thou couple to say their prayers and reconsider going back to school for some cooking lessons.

I hate cooking...
javabeanas1 May 2021
I hate cooking, but this show makes me want to cook. After watching the first 3 episodes, I downloaded the recipes (for free) and start cooking. We have already discovered new family favorites! She is imperfect and real and awkward and adorable and makes the kitchen way less intimidating to me.

If you are a "good cook" already and enjoy watching professional cooking shows - this isn't for you. If you are someone who cooks because you have to and wonders why anyone might ever enjoy it, you will be inspired. J.

Gaines Family Keep Doing What You Are Doing
themadhatter-1153215 May 2022
Joanna & Chip are Wonderful, Warm and Genuine. This show is Not like other cooking shows. Joanne makes regular food with a kick that most family members would enjoy. And the recipes are easy! She is comical and I find myself laughing most of the time. Its like hanging out with my good friends. I do Not watch cooking shows but came across an episode and found myself drawn to them.

BTW - No shows on Rogers are free ... you have to choose which channels are part of your Ignite TV package. I am uncertain what the previous reviewers are talking about. (I am sure Bell is the same).

In regarding to branching out - what is wrong with that? Don't most people dream, grow and try to better themselves? Here is a family portraying a positive image, having some fun and helping their community. Before you make a blanket statement about them being money-grubbing, why don't you do a little research. What have you done as of late to help your community? Wouldn't you want to help your children and leave them a legacy. What an absurd comment.

Joanna and Chip - please continue to do what you do best and do not listen to this negative talk. Their comments are not constructive and it comes from a place of darkness.

Wishing you much success!

Greed is not a good look
holchie9 April 2021
Unfortunately, a lot of people will never see this show because you have to pay to see it. Not everyone wants to. Or can, pay for a show on top of their cable or satellite bill. They ended the 'free' show and now are raking in the money from making this new version exclusive to the Discovery+ cabal. She and her husband attempt to put forth a friendly, down-to-earth image, but they are as money-grubbing as you can get. I didn't want to give it one star, so I settled on 4.

Stiff and Unnatural
noladel19 April 2021
This woman is a horrible cook and a she plays to the camera. The best television chefs are more focused on what they are cooking than pandering to the camera.

Yummy Recipes, Great Tips!
rhiphilly13 April 2021
I loved watching Joanna in Fixer Upper, I knew she also had a passion for cooking (she released her cook book a few years ago and her and Chip own their own Café). I honestly binge watched every episode of this show and I need more! The recipes are delicious and Joanna gives tons of pro tips!

I see some of the reviews on her have given it low star ratings without even watching the show! Take it up with Discovery if you're that mad about paying an extra $5 for streaming content to numerous channels (plus other exclusives, not just the magnolia network!)

OMG Bring back DIY!!
elizabethveloz1 April 2022
Where to begin. I don't normally right reviews because they are often unfair. I could not however remain quiet for this. Every time I turn to the channel all I see is Fixer Upper. Not the so called new ones which are not really new if you look closer, but the old ones we have seen about 1000 times per episode. Honestly it looks like these people are so consumed with themselves, that they have blocked off all of the prime time spots with their overplayed episodes of a no longer current show. Joanna's cooking show is basic and her recipes are uninspired. I loved the old DIY network. This change was a disaster. I can't imagine it will last.

Magnolia Network stinks
rbrtngnt10 March 2022
I really enjoyed diy. This magnolia Network has only a couple shows it seems. I think it's terrible. Please bring back DIY. This magnolia Network is so bad I won't even turn it on. I enjoyed the programs on DIY. Especially shows like Barn builders. Again bring back DIY.

Refreshing to me
carenchadwick6 January 2022
I don't watch or didn't watch much DIY TV because I worked nights for over 35 years. I'm not much on the reality thing anyway because it is sooo fake. But to Joanna's cooking show was so different, she's real, not perfect and not fancy, just cooking for her friends and family, the stuff everybody eats. I like her and her cooking show, for that reason! Made me feel like it was ok not to be perfect for a change.

This network sucks
little-4488520 January 2022
Why did you turn to a cooking show, we have enough of them, now building off the grid is in the early am hours. Why is everything about chip and Joanne, I guess cause they own it. If they want to stay around they need to make some big changes. Really terrible tv.

This show is even more boring than...
jmariani-5979917 May 2021
... watching paint dry, and that's saying something. They're really good at home design and renovation, but this cooking how is just not working for me.

Update a year later: I like Joanna so gave her cooking show another try. There she was making an Italian dish and since I happen to be Italian, I was naturally interested in seeing where she took it. Garlic POWDER? Gag. And "fo-kah-sha" bread? Uh, no, it's "fo-kah-cha". Just couldn't deal with it and had to switch channels. ;)

PS: Too bad DIY Network has been ruined.
