As usual, Giti is the most annoying character. She's an hypocrite, a liar and a terribly meddlesome shrew. I can understand why hubby Lipa left her, not so sure why he went back.

This time Giti doesn't approve of Lipa being fascinated by a movie set, she lies to an old friend and pushes her son into a match even if he is interested in another girl and way too young and inexperienced to be able to manage the situation.

Akiva messes up with his daughter and you can see how pitiless bureaucracy can be even for a small mistake.

Finally Nukhem, who was so proud and antagonist with his brother Shulem is now a shell of a man, destroyed by grief because of the loss of his wife and daughter (Akiva's wife). The most touching moment is Akiva showing to the art dealer a sketch of Nukhem laying disconsolate on the sofa.

Shift of tone in S3

Warning: Spoilers
S1 and 2 were character driven whilst S3 (which seems to have a bigger budget and more expansive location shoots) is plot driven. S3 of Shtisel is still v good but sometimes it feels like the characters we grew to know so well in the earlier two series have become inconsistent. For example Akiva's aggressive attitude to the art dealer and also Kaufman as he tries to reclaim the paintings of his dead wife strike a discordant note. Akiva was a gentler soul before. Also Yossa'le's matches look like they've stepped off a modelling catwalk. The series has become more glamorous and the quietness, meandering plot and intimacy has suffered slightly as a result.
