Dr. Lightman's office is hired to resolve two cases. Cal and Torres have to find whether the gang-leader Manny Trillo may be released from prison or not. He claims that he has read many books in prison and becomes another man, capable to help to reduce crime in the city talking to other gangs. A board will analyze whether he may be freed on parole or not. Torres is skeptical with his change and Dr. Lightman has doubts. When the widow of his victim defends Manny, Cal and Torres question the woman's attitude. Meanwhile, Foster and Loker investigate whether a young black fireman died in a fire by accident or was killed by one of his fellow colleagues.
