Kathy Jones the student in this episode really stole my heart and won my admiration. I am a retired Soldier and she wanted to join ROTC to pay for medical school. The only problem is this was fifty years ago when sexism was still rampant in our society. I look back on my own military career and some of the finest leaders I ever knew were women. However, the leader of Whitman's ROTC is worried about a girl joining his team because she might not be tough enough and this girl's father is such a chauvanist boor that he feels a woman's only place is to get married and have babies. However, there is a happy end where he realizes how wrong he was and she gets to be a Soldier. Richard Bull (who played Mister Olson on Little House) co stars as the head of the ROTC and Ralph Meeker (who was the first actor to play Mike Hammer in Kiss Me Deadly) plays the father. There is a funny subplot with Alice getting into a fender bender and standing up for her rights.

Kathy Jones is a student who joins ROTC thinking she can get a scholarship and go to medical school.
An OK episode, the series is winding down and running out of ideas. Tannis J Montgomery gives a good performance as Kathy. Her father is against her joining ROTC, he is played by character actor Ralph Meeker, who appeared in many films like "Kiss Me Deadly" and "The Naked Spur".
