- The story of Don's run-in with SAR leads the Robinsons to an alarming realization. Will sneaks out on a dangerous solo mission.
- The separate Robinsons reunite at the Jupiter 2, and Will goes to confront SAR and try to get through to the robot. One of the group will fall as they learn that SAR has found a away to locate Alpha Centauri, and they have to get to the colony to warn them.—Gislef
- On the bog planet, in Jupiter 2, Maureen and Judy are moving crates into position. They hear something moving in the ship and go to investigate, and find something burning through an exterior hatch. Robot and then the others come in, and Maureen hugs John and says that she's glad it's him. Judy explains that the creature swallowed most of the ship, and Maureen tells John that they have some time until they're ready to lift off. John tells everyone that they'll run cold as long as they can so the robots don't sense their electrical activity, and Penny and Judy go to clear the filters.
Maureen tells Smith to help the oxygen, and has Robot seal the hatch broken open by the creature. John takes Will up top to look for Don, and Will looks pensive even Maureen tells him that they'll make it together.
Smith and Maureen go to work in the garage, and they talk about Smith working as a teacher with the children. She says that she and the children took care of each other, and Maureen asks her if there's anything with her kids that a mother should know about. Smith says that Penny had her first love triangle, while Judy fulfilled her own potential stepping out of the shadow of her parents. She tells Maureen that Judy and Grant got along. Smith says that Will has a lot on his mind, but doesn't do into detail. They finish their work but Maureen says that there's more to do.
John and Will go out in the bog, and John talks about Will growing up. He apologizes to Will about breaking his promise to keep the family together, and when they finally get to Alpha Centauri, John promises his son that they're going to do some regular father-and-son things. They talk about normal things, and Will suggests that they start with something small. They stop to scan the land with binoculars, and Will spots Don.
A robot finds where the Robinson came down after ejecting.
Back on Jupiter 2, Will tells Robot that it's more important than anything that his family gets to Alpha Centauri. Once they get there, they can find a way to defeat the robots. Robot puts one hand on Will's shoulder, and Will says "Good" and runs off.
John finds Maureen and asks if there's anything he can do to help. She sits back to wait for her unit to process data, and John points out that they're all together and it's been a while since they can be parents. They agree that being parents is a good job and kiss, and John shows Maureen the hard drive that Penny found on Fortuna. He says that all the hard drives were scrubbed of their tracing data, and one video shows a robot scanning one of the pods, but not hurting Grant inside. The video was taken five years ago.
Don comes in with Debbie, and tells everyone about how he encountered a robot and it scanned him but left him alive. John points out that the robots did the same thing to Grant, and the timestamp on the video indicates the first contact between robots and humans was aboard Fortuna. Maureen figures that the robots were able to find Earth by the sediment traces in Grant's body. Don is the only who has been to Alpha Centauri.
Maureen says that she'll figure something out. Will slips away and goes to the garage, boards a chariot with his backpack containing the skull, takes the chip out of the damaged wrist unit and puts it in his new one, disables the vehicle tracking system, and starts to drive out. Robot stops the chariot and says that it wants to help Will. Will tells it that if they're friends and Robot really wants to help, it will stay there and keep Will's family safe.
John says that they should launch, go to Alpha Centauri, and warn the colonists. Smith suggests they use the engine to go anywhere and save themselves, but John tells her that they're not running away. An exasperated Smith walks out, and Robot comes in and tells Penny that it will "help family".
Smith goes past Will's cabin, and sees the recorder on his bed. She goes in and turns it on, and watches the final transmission Will made. He says that things may not work out the way he hoped they would.
Will drives across the planet, turning on the lights so the robots can detect him.
Don suggests that they ground SAR on the planet, but isn't sure how. John wonders why the robots haven't launched already, and Maureen figures that SAR wants something from Will. They notice that Will is gone. Maureen goes to Will's cabin, and Smith tells her that Will has gone to try and stop SAR. She shows Maureen the recorder, and Maureen goes out while Robot looks at Smith from the hallway.
Will hears the tone on the external mike and stops the chariot.
John wants to go out and find Will, and Maureen tells her husband that they'll never catch Will on foot. He asks Robot if he knew what Will was doing, and Maureen says that they need to get the Jupiter into the air to search for Will. She turns on the power to light the hallways, figuring it's too late to hide from the robots. Penny suggests that Will might be right and can get through to SAR, but Maureen doesn't believe it. Will leaves the chariot and sees the robots approaching. They see him.
The Jupiter flies over the swamp, and Maureen wonders what SAR wants with Will.
In the past, Robot finds SAR, confronts it, and indicates that it has befriended Will. SAR slams Robot against a nearby rock wall and rips open its chest. Robot insists that Will didn't reprogram it, and it follows Will out of friendship.
Will approaches the robots, and he plays the tone, sending them all away but SAR. He introduces himself to SAR and figures it wanted to know why Robot acted different after meeting Will. Will says that change can be scary but helps something become better. SAR approaches him and gestures that it's asking about the heart. Will says that the heart is a form of programming that tells them who they're friend are, and hearts can be broken like programming can be broken.
The teenager shows SAR the skull and says that its masters are not there anymore, and are extinct. The robots can choose their own programming and do whatever it wants. SAR takes the skull and Will asks it if it knows how its creator died. The robot says that it killed its creators and crushes the skull in its claws.
On Jupiter 2, Robot says, "Danger, Will Robinson". John spots Will and SAR, and Don takes the Jupiter down.
Will asks SAR why it would kill its makers, and he reaches for his wrist unit. It knocks it away and says it will now kill heart.
Robot and the others leave the ship.
SAR advances on Will, and Will yells for Robot. Undeterred, SAR stabs Will in the heart and the other robots advance. Robot sees its friend die and its faceplate turns red. Robot smashes through the robots attacking it, while the others run to Will's body.
In the message earlier, Will says that they're all his family and he loves them. He's doing what he's done because keeping them alive is what matters to him.
The group takes Will back to the Jupiter and try to keep him alive. John tells Robot that it was supposed to keep it from happening, and hits it in fury. His blows have no effect, and he walks away crying. Judy does what she can for Will but says that she needs a hospital. Maureen and John both agree that there's a hospital on Alpha Centauri, and they'll go there and warn the colonists as well. Judy warns that Will won't survive the trip, and Maureen insists that they have to try. She says that they need to put Will in a cryopod, and the women get him in.
John and Don go to the bridge and start the launch sequence.
Smith finds Robot and tells it that it's time to go. She says that she knows Robot has feelings, but right now she needs Robot to bury them and focus on getting Will to Alpha Centauri. After a moment, Robot walks away. It goes to the engine and activates it to open a rift.
John detects SAR taking off, and Don lifts off in the Jupiter and pursues the robots' ship. That ship enters its rift, while the Jupiter enters the rift opened by Robot.
