- TriviaKarl Urban's character "Bob" is a reference to "Beach Bob", a label (usually derogatory) applied by the ARK multiplayer community to new or low skill online players of the video game on which the series is based. "Beach Bobs" are so named due to their preference to remain in the beach areas where it is safer, rather than venturing inland to more hazardous and difficult areas.

I'm all for girl-power but this show was kinda putting it in your face vs telling a straight up story. I've played the game, i was expecting a more "balanced" but it seemed like this story was, well, one-sided about certain things.
There are moments when you "know" that companies are making more of a platform statement than story-telling and this is certainly one of them.
I gotta admit, when i first heard about this show, i wasn't expecting the girl-power half-hour. I was looking for it to be more along the lines of the game vs female empowerment and males being just a side note. Yes, it was smart being very 'inclusive' with several races but that doesn't cover up what they are really doing here.
The art is good and the music is very good as well...i was just expecting some real 'balance' and it missed the mark way worse than i feared after watching the first episode. The guy she encounters, in the first 5 minutes, being a soldier from the 1940s would have been a far more interesting character and (considering he had survival experience) would have made more sense.
The idea of how she got here was stolen right out of the movie "Preadators" minus the sky-fall, you could tell they were stretching for original ideas there.
I think the people, who were doing this show, HAD to be involved with the "Fallout" TV show to some degree, it's just too obvious.
