The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in dire need for rejuvenation. In an era where ‘superhero fatigue ‘ is the buzz word, if the MCU has to scale the peaks that it once did, it will have to undertake some herculean efforts. Creators will have to think out of the box while retaining the core that made the fans resonate with the movies. It is in this period that Simu Liu’s critically acclaimed Shang-Chi is all set to begin filming after a gargantuan delay in 2025. While some fans would be baffled, it doesn’t come as a shock to many. After all, this isn’t the most delayed MCU sequel out there.

Kevin Feige has been shepherding the MCU since its inception in the late 2000s and came out guns blazing with the first Iron Man in 2008. The MCU soon expanded over the years, and more characters started to populate the narrative and make the universe layered and interconnected.

The MCU currently has numerous projects in development, both movies and shows, despite Iger’s announcement that their creative output will significantly decrease to 2-3 movies and 2 live-action shows per year.
Many projects were greenlit before the SAG-AFTRA strike and the subsequent failure of several ventures, and now they need to be completed.
One such project is ‘Armor Wars.’ Initially conceived as a movie, it was redeveloped into a show, and now it’s back to being a movie again. According to the production schedule, ‘Armor Wars’ is set to begin filming on January 6, 2025, in Atlanta, USA. Although details about the movie are scarce, the production listing has provided a brief synopsis:

Rumour has it Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler is being eyed to helm both Black Panther 3 and Marvel Studios' eventual X-Men reboot.
It's an exciting prospect given what a talent the filmmaker is, but one The DisInsider may have thrown cold water on. According to the site, Coogler is on a shortlist to helm both Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars.
While the post's author believes he'd likely direct only one of them, they also suggest the director could pass the reigns of Black Panther 3 to someone else to focus on Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Still, we'd bet on Marvel Studios wanting a single filmmaker for the next Avengers movies as, like Infinity War and Endgame, they could then be shot back-to-back (surely a necessity when they're being released only one year apart).

How much Marvel is too much? That question has hung over the MCU for more than five years, since Avengers: Endgame gave viewers an easy jumping off point. In that time, Marvel has released 25 movies, TV series, and specials, few of them pleasing all but the most committed fans.
It’s no surprise that, since he came back as Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger has talked several times about reducing MCU output. He hasn’t offered much in the way of specifics until now, but that still raises questions about the franchise’s future success.
Bob Iger Reduces Marvel Output
In a quarterly earnings call described by Variety, Iger clarified the company’s Marvel plan moving forward. “We’re slowly going to decrease volume and go to probably about two TV series a year instead of what had become four and reduce our film output from maybe four a year to two,...

Marvel Studios has several projects in the making bound to be released over the course of the next few years. Despite Iger’s recent comments that the studio should focus on quality over quantity and ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ being the only movie to release in 2024, they see no signs of stopping.
Now that the strike has cleared up, there are some projects that have been stuck in development hell for quite some time now, and some projects that need to be rushed in order for the MCU timeline to make sense without too many edits. It’s time for these projects to move on with the production.

Despite recent comments from Iger advocating for prioritizing quality over quantity and with only ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ slated for release in 2024, Marvel Studios shows no signs of slowing down.
With the strike resolved, projects that have long been stuck in development limbo are finally moving forward, and others must be expedited to maintain coherence in the MCU timeline. It’s time for these projects to advance in production.
One long-awaited project is Don Cheadle’s ‘Armor Wars.’ Initially conceived as a movie following the comic storyline of the same name, it was intended as a sequel to ‘Secret Invasion’ (released last year) and ‘Ironheart’ (release date currently unknown). Don Cheadle himself confirmed back in 2011 that a War Machine film was in the works, with Joe Robert Cole hired as the writer. Now, according to NexusPoint News, filming for the project is set to commence in January 2025 in the United Kingdom and Atlanta.

Marvel Studios has a lineup of projects slated for release or development in the coming years. While progress on most of these projects is clear, one movie has been stuck in development limbo for quite some time, with only sporadic updates emerging. We’re referring to the War Machine movie, ‘Armor Wars.’
‘Armor Wars’ was initially envisioned as a film based on the comic storyline of the same name. It was intended to serve as a sequel to ‘Secret Invasion’ (released last year) and ‘Ironheart’ (whose release date is currently unknown). As far back as 2011, Don Cheadle confirmed the development of a War Machine film, with Joe Robert Cole brought on board to pen the script.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is regarded as one of the top-tier MCU projects released after Avengers: Endgame. Simu Liu and the entire cast delivered an excellent performance, and the action sequences were heavily praised. The 2021 film hinted that the character will be a key character in the Multiverse Saga moving forward. According to recent reports, the actor can reprise his role in 4 major upcoming MCU flicks.

Marvel has had a plethora of franchises over the years but none of them could come close to the popularity matched by Ghost Rider, featuring Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze. The first film was released in 2007 which was a massive hit, and four years later, it got a strange sequel titled Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance. Though it was not a massive hit like the initial film, it was an intriguing watch as the film featured more action and watching Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze and his anti-hero avatar was an absolute blast.

With Jonathan Majors’ Kang out of the MCU’s scheme of things after his conviction last year, fans have been speculating who might be the perfect foe to replace the Conqueror in the multiversal saga. And while many have pointed to Doctor Doom as the perfect substitution following the scale of the upcoming Avengers, the MCU might already have the ideal solution to this situation.
Considering we are already halfway through the multiversal saga, setting up Doctor Doom in the limited time for the upcoming Avengers flicks isn’t going to be easy if the MCU goes that route. However, bringing back one Avengers foe from the past could work in the MCU’s favor, as he could effortlessly fill Kang’s shoes in the upcoming multiversal battle in Avengers 5 or 6.

Marvel Studios has a myriad of projects either scheduled for release or in development over the next few years. Amidst the progress of most of these projects, one film, ‘Armor Wars,’ has lingered in development for several years, revealing only fragments of its status.
Originally envisioned as a movie based on the comic storyline of the same name, ‘Armor Wars’ was slated to be a sequel to Secret Invasion (released last year) and Ironheart (release date unknown). In 2011, Don Cheadle confirmed the development of a War Machine film, with Joe Rober Cole hired as the writer. However, nine years later, during Disney’s 2020 Investor Day, it was revealed that ‘Armor Wars’ was being adapted into a television series for Disney+, with Don Cheadle reprising his role as James Rhodes. In 2021, Cheadle announced that the series would enter production in a few months.
In August 2021, Yassir Lester became the head writer for the series.

One of my favorite comic book story arcs is the “Rise of the Midnight Sons”, which saw Doctor Strange overseeing the formation of a team of supernatural heroes – Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze, Morbius, the Nightstalkers, and Darkhold characters Vicki Montesi, Louise Hastings, and Sam Buchanan – who were brought together to battle Lilith, the Mother of All Demons, and her evil offspring, the Lilin. There have been different variations of the Midnight Sons over the years, with other team members like Daimon Hellstrom, Jennifer Kale, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, The Hood, Doctor Voodoo, Elsa Bloodstone, Moon Knight, Iron Fist, Scarlet Spider, Kushala, Magik, Wolverine, and Nico Minoru coming and going. The latest version of the team was even called the Midnight Suns rather than Sons. Now Cosmic Circus has shared the Rumor that a version of the Midnight Sons might be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Note: Spoilers ahead for the “Secret Invasion” season finale on Disney+
“Secret Invasion” isn’t so secret anymore, with the finale dropping on Wednesday on Disney+. And, while it doesn’t necessarily set up a ton of stuff for the future of the MCU — at least not explicitly — there were a few things that director Ali Selim was told to include.
In the finale, we see Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) get almost fully back to his old self, saving the president — and in turn, the world — with the help of a small, but crafty team. It’s a grueling fight, but they do manage to stop Gravik and release the humans that the Skrulls had kidnapped and simmed.
All that accomplished, Fury headed back up to space, which is presumably where we’ll find him when “The Marvels” hits theaters in November. And that was one of just two...

This article contains spoilers for the ‘Secret Invasion’ series!
The latest series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ‘Secret Invasion,’ concluded this week after six episodes. The episode finished with G’iah becoming one of the most powerful MCU characters thanks to the Harvest and Gravik’s machine that transformed into a Super Skrull. She defeated Gravik and freed all his human prisoners, including Colonel James Rhodes.
One of the plot twists the series provided was that James Rhodes had been Skrull all along, but the series didn’t reveal when was the real Rhodes kidnapped by Skrulls and replaced with one of their own. We found out in the series that the Skrulls have been present on Earth since 1995, and that’s a pretty long period when the real Rhodes could’ve been kidnapped.

‘Secret Invasion’ director reveals when the Skrull replaced the real James Rhodes in the MCU timeline!

Marvel is bringing Secret Invasion to your streaming device, and we’re about to see what the Skrulls have been up to since we discovered that Nick Fury had been a shapeshifter at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home. Since then, it seems like a lot may have been going on. Skrulls have found their way into positions of power in the MCU and are ready to reveal themselves for a global takeover.
This series could reveal to all of us that some of our favorite characters have been Skrulls this whole time. How would the other MCU characters react when they discovered that some of their closest allies were Skrulls? It could be chaos. Of course, that was their plan the whole time.

Despite being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for well over a decade, Samuel L. Jackson and Don Cheadle have never actually shared the screen together. That will all change with Secret Invasion, the upcoming Marvel series which features both Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson.
Samuel L. Jackson reprises his role of Nick Fury as he investigates a conspiracy involving the Skrulls, a species of shape-shifting aliens first introduced in Captain Marvel. Fury will cross paths with James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Don Cheadle) during the investigation. Don Cheadle told Entertainment Weekly that the moment was a long-time coming. “Day one, we sat down and were like, ‘This should have happened a long time ago, but it’s great that it’s happening now,’” Cheadle said. “Sam’s a good friend, and I’ve known him a long time. It was cool to be able to sit across from him and go back and forth.

After many months of waiting, Marvel Studios has finally dropped a new trailer for "Secret Invasion." Starring the legendary Samuel L. Jackson as super-spy Nick Fury, the upcoming Disney+ original miniseries delves into an underground conspiracy unlike any the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever seen before.
When he learns that a radical group of Skrulls has been secretly infiltrating Earth's society, the former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. is determined to stop them by any means necessary. But with their shape-shifting abilities, these operatives could be hiding in plain sight, disguising themselves as crossing guards, doctors, government officials, or even Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Since our first look at the show from "Mr. Robot" creator Kyle Bradstreet dropped at last year's D23 Expo, there hasn't been a ton of talk "Secret Invasion." A few theories have surfaced about what exactly could be going on, and stars like Emilia Clarke...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is full of divisive characters, from Groot to Hawkeye. Fans have strong opinions about every character in the MCU — but one particular character, and one particular actor, has drawn an almost-excessive amount of ire. When Brie Larson was announced as the iconic character Captain Marvel, many fans were excited to see what the veteran performer would bring to the role.
However, alongside this came a lot of criticism and unkind remarks, with many slamming her performance in the 2019 film Captain Marvel. In the midst of all the negativity, however, one of Larson’s fellow MCU stars stood up for her, taking to Twitter after a body language expert slammed Larson’s demeanor on a Marvel press tour.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is setting up a new “dynasty,” and after 11 years of the Infinity Saga we’ve tossed aside Thanos like a drawer full of Infinity Stones at the Tva. MCU overlord Kevin Feige is back in the driver’s seat as we move at breakneck speed into the Multiverse Saga of Phase 4, 5, and 6.
This chapter sees the rise of Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror, but barely before things have begun, this sordid saga will be bowing out with Secret Wars in 2026. While some of us are looking beyond that to the arrival of the X-Men and potential big bads like Galactus, we’ve still got the Fantastic Four, Blade, and the timeline-shattering events of The Kang Dynasty to get through. The question is, are we reaching MCU saturation?
The MCU Is Reaching Critical Mass
In 2023 we’ve got three MCU movies and a currently unknown slate of shows in store.

The MCU has quickly become one of the largest and most successful film franchises in history and they have a track record of hits that has earned them the right to say so. But no franchise is without its faults. While the MCU has done its best to keep eager-fans in the loop about all of their upcoming projects, every now and then they stumble and drop the ball a bit. For example, the MCU has bombarded audiences over the past two years with a surplus of movies and television shows at a rate no other studio has come close to matching and they’re seemingly set to do so once more in 2023.
However, despite the long list of projects that the MCU has scheduled to release this year, fans have gotten shockingly little in terms of trailers or news updates on when exactly they’ll be releasing. One of said projects,...

Don Cheadle has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for 13 years now and finally, all of that time spent talking to floating tennis balls and acting in the presumably sweaty War Machine suit is about to pay off ... in about another year or so. Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes is on the verge of emerging from Tony Stark's shadow as the lead of his own movie. "Armor Wars" will finally give us the chance to dig into the life of the U.S. Air Force officer, as he navigates being a hero in the wake of his friend's heartbreaking sacrifice.
While the details of the story remain pretty vague, Cheadle did reveal what excites him about the project during an interview for the January 2023 issue of Total Film:
"I don't think we've ever really dug into him, and now it's an opportunity to really explore his emotional life, his interior life,...

Then, ahead of their appearance at this year's Golden Globes, where the movie has been nominated for Best Picture - Non-English and won the award Best Original Song for the absolute banger "Naatu Naatu," some west coast based team members were present at Los Angeles' legendary Tcl Chinese Theater with Rajamouli and star N. Don Cheadle is gearing up for his return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming continuation of Rhodey’s saga with Armor Wars. The actor is often relegated to a supporting role in the franchise but this will put him front and centre. Of course, the MCU isn’t the first time Cheadle would be part of a massive ensemble., Cheadle was also previously part of the A-list Ocean’s franchise as the explosives expert, Basher. Variety reports that Cheadle recently spoke about how often fans would say to his face that they hated Ocean’s Twelve, the middle of the trilogy.
Cheadle would already garner criticism in the films with his over-the-top British accent, and now, the actor talks candidly in an interview with GQ magazine that people are uninhibitedly vocal to him about their hatred to that movie as a whole.

Don Cheadle had to block out the white noise when it came to joining the MCU.
The Oscar nominee was cast as the replacement for Terrence Howard’s character Lt. James Rhodes (aka War Machine) in the “Iron Man” sequel. Cheadle went on to appear in seven Marvel movies, plus the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” and “What If…?.”
Yet, Cheadle is now revealing how he committed to the MCU before “Iron Man 2” in 2010.
“I was at my kid’s laser tag birthday party. They called me and said, ‘This is what’s happening and we’re giving you the offer. If you don’t say yes then we’re going to the next person. This is going to happen very fast,'” Cheadle recalled to GQ. “‘Why don’t you take an hour and decide if you want to do it.'”

For the first three seasons, Janet Hubert played “Aunt Viv” on The Fresh Prince of Bell-Air, dealing out wisdom to Will Smith’s Philadelphia transplant. Aunt Viv remained a constant on the show, but starting with season four, Daphne Maxwell Reid stepped into the role, giving pop culture enthusiasts a new term for sudden recastings. But to actors who replace other actors, the term “Aunt Viv” might have negative connotations.

James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy" films (as well as the accompanying "Holiday Special") have greatly expanded the narrative possibilities of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Audiences have been treated to countless characters, creatures, and worlds, all of which have been delivered with Gunn's signature combination of imagination and wit. Of course, as wild and fresh as the cosmic elements of the MCU are, there's been no shortage of heart. Gunn was given the unenviable task of making us care about a cadre of characters including a sentient tree and a foul-mouthed raccoon and pulled it off with flying colors. With the writer and director moving over to lead DC Studios, fans can't help but wonder about the future of the Guardians of the Galaxy and their unique place in the MCU.

Comic book fans got a surprise in September when reports confirmed that the Don Cheadle-led series "Armor Wars" wouldn't be a Disney+ series after all, but a full-length Marvel movie. In a franchise that's known for having a rock-solid plan years ahead of time, the change to a project that was already in development may have felt like a sign that cracks were appearing in the Marvel Studios machine. But longtime Marvel producer Nate Moore recently visited the podcast "The Town with Matthew Belloni," and revealed that the reason for the format switch-up is actually a good thing: the story just needed a bigger budget (via Games Radar).
"There were some great ideas that were coming out for that show, but that to be quite honest felt too big for that show," Moore shared, before clarifying that he meant "too big" in terms of both budget and concept. "Armor Wars...

After playing James Rhodes for well over a decade, Don Cheadle is getting the chance to headline his own project in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
